  • The gel pads that I showed are called ToeSavers Mini Pointe Shoe Pads. I wouldn't recommend them since the adhesive was of poor quality. The lambswool and Big Tip (from Bunheads) worked best for my Morton's feet.
I was wearing Russian Pointe Bravas before switching to Gaynor Minden shoes. I'll let you all know how I feel about the Gaynors next time!
I hope you are all doing well~

Hi! Gaynors also have sleek and sculpted cuts where the box is the same, but there is less fabric on the sides :) not sure which ones you have here’d but something to maybe look into!

I am not a pro, I'm in my 50 and started again ballet two years ago and reprise pointe shoes last years. By the the first two months I used eu.bal. , it's been painful and my feet are too flexible and weight too much (80kilos) so I broke them quite soon. I changed to heritage. Lovely but they lasted 20 days🙄 I finally decided to take GM (green because of my weight) and they are WOW still there! And those are simply perfect!🤩

This is so, so helpful and good to know. My second toe is longer too and I've read in textbooks that this could cause problems for starting pointe, but watching the things you've tried and documented and brought up with your fitter are eye opening. Your new shoes look so great on you too.
I'm gonna remember this video a couple years from now when I go for it!

I have the same second toe issue! So painful! But Gaynors do the trick. They are sooo comfortable I’m afraid of them if that makes sense!

I had the EXACT same experience with Gaynor Minden. Got a pair 15 years ago and they never felt right. Tried a pair recently and they felt fantastic en pointe. The shank fit my arch like it was made for my foot. I was perfectly supported and roll-through was so smooth I was stunned. I like to feel the floor, so I wear my shoes a bit tight, but my toes hit the end too much in plié so I need to wait until my size comes in- just 1/2 size up. Like you- I have a long 2nd toe and thin feet. I’m wearing Suffolk Silhouettes for now but I can’t wait for my Gaynor Minden Fitting!!! So excited.

Thank you for the comparison. I've had the old Gaynors & have thought about getting them again. So this helps.

Me too. The old ones were always beautiful but they never felt right. The new ones feel fantastic. Definitely get fitted- they’ve made a lot of changes so the fit is really excellent if it’s done right. Best of luck!

How are your feet handling the new satin fabric/material? I've heard a lot of complaints regarding the new stiffer material (post covid). I love Gaynor's. Used to use Blochs and once I swapped to Gaynor's have never looked back. But I'm now very hesitant with all the negative reviews about the stiff material hurting and blistering heels terribly. So I'm curious to know how your heels are handling the material months later?

Hi I was wondering if you could help me with a size question in regards to Gaynor Minden new ballet slippers in Canvas . I take a size 8 to 8/ 1/2 in street shoes on their website I they run to size . I don’t know if I should get a size 38 or 38.5 which would be a 81/2 I reached out to Gaynor in their website and they told me a size 8 would be fine for me because the canvas stretches . I’m not sure what to do any thoughts

It looks like GM improved the overall aesthetic of the shoe as well. They used to be so strange looking compared to traditional paste pointe shoes.

It looks like you need a different shoe fit! Maybe a sleek. The new GM don't gape at the sides like that for me, in a sculpted fit. They look very good on you en pointe!

My teacher wouldn’t let us put anything in our shoes except for lambswool. I’d love to try silicone pads and “cheater shoes.”

Hello Ballet Misfit! I have a favor to ask you. Can you please post a calorie burning ballet workout! That way I’m doing what I like, and don’t get unmotivated.
