Sonny was a beautiful person too. We were very close friends. He was highly principled, dedicated to music and to being a force for good. I was deeply saddened by his passing.

Sonny Fortune was indeed very special. He listened deeply, was extremely observant, humble, and strong. Although no one could fill the void that Trane's ascension left, to me, Sonny filled that ache by being true in his own way, you dig. THANK YOU SONNY -- you have made my days brighter!
