This thing was almost as horrifying as the SA-X. Though for very different reasons. The SA-X was something you were just scared shitless to face, but this thing... it leaves one to wonder simply what it used to be, WHY it's in that metal casing and WHY it has that face. "Why" was the only thing I could really ask myself when fighting that thing.
I think of the nightmare the same way I think of the RE Tyrant; a biological terror built by humans. It may have been an innocent creature once, or not, but whatever it is now, it's an abomination. And it can and will destroy everything in its path; maybe because it wants to, maybe not, but it will. Killing it is both an act of kindness to the beast and a favor to the universe. With all the damage Nightmare did to that station in Fusion, I shudder to imagine what it could do if it had escaped.
DemiGreyPup Also would be awesome if Kenji Yamamoto joined up alongside Fusion's composers; the music he did for the Prime trilogy was phenomenal, and he did a great job in "recycling" his compositions from Super Metroid.
Yes! Oh my gosh, when I was little I'd watch my brother play super metroid, and the norfair theme just stuck with me; then, when he played metroid prime and stepped into the entrance of magmoor caverns, i was hit by nostalgia!! same goes for the hydro dynamo theme in mp2, which used the theme for red brinstar (one of my favs)
Star Bro Mmm, I thought as much! LOL! Perhaps it was originally a piece of Chozo technology that fell into the wrong hands (these being the Federation, who were also breeding metroids under Samus' nose). It's not just the Space Pirates who are carrying out shady operations it seems ;____;
Fusion was my first Metroid game. I played it when I was like 8 years old, and to this day I still think about this boss fight, cause it didn't feel like a boss... It felt like putting down a rabid animal
How many of you think that this should have been Nightmare's theme in Other M during your first encounter with him? It would have been much more dramatic and suspenseful.
+Christopher Kariotis If GPM can mod mario galaxy to have custom music, someone could literally replace its original theme song with this in dolphin. its totally possible. Infact i'd do it if i wernt lazy
When I came upon this boss, I found myself feeling rather sympathetic for the Nightmare, as strange as that sounds......! My first impression of it was that it looked almost like a long-discarded, home-stitched doll, like something out of a gothic or industrial slums setting. And it didn't help that the song itself was haunting, or that the noise it emitted sounded much like a wildcat (and the two top corners of the casing around its head resemble cat ears, oddly enough).
whitemana i agree with you on this, I mean i never played the game but nightmare looks and sounds like its in pain. almost as if by killing it you are doing the best thing for it
This remix is fantastic. Man... the Nightmare. Best Boss Fight in the game. Nightmare itself is still shrouded in mystery, to why The Federation had this thing in the first place.
This arrangement of the song was great! Honestly the biggest flaw I noticed was that it was too short! I wanted it to keep building that sinister energy because that, like you said in the description, is exactly how the fight felt. Your own increasing terror at fighting Nightmare is matched by the soundtrack. Great job here dude.
This is old as hell but I still listen to it. I always wonder exactly what purpose did nightmare serve as a weapon? Even other m with it's stupid looking version had that vibe that it wasn't normally something that would take orders. I found it the creepiest Metroid enemy for the sole fact there is no explanation as to WHAT it is. Such a tortured looking thing. From all the federation technology seen, nothing comes close to even resembling the tech the nightmare was kitted out with. Especially gravity manipulation. I know artificial gravity would be something in a sci Fi game, but for a biomechanical weapon to posses the ability to crush people with it's presence, what exactly were they planning on using nightmare for? I've always found that interesting
Well defiantly does brings back raging memories. This was probably my most hated boss but I did love the sound track. This remix you've done does make it sound more scarier. To me at least the orignal song didn't give that feel as much as the boss itself, but here it does.
I hope Fusion receives a remake on the Nintendo Switch. Zero Mission and Samus Returns are outstanding remakes of Metroid and Return of Samus, respectively. Fusion is already pretty much perfect but a faithful remake with voice acting would be awesome. I don’t feel that Super Metroid needs a remake just yet, though. Fusion could use one just to be more horrifying.
I can totally see nightmare trying pull you into inferno with the road your standing on gets drag into it from his gravity powers and you have no choice but to run until he runs out of energy giving you enough time to show him that he should be afraid of you
Everything about the Nightmare just screams "What the fuck?" in a mysterious way. Not the "What the fuck!?" kind of way as in an expression. More like a "What is this?" kind of way. It's unsettling. I guess it's unfair to call it unsettling, since it's Metroid Fusion and there's nothing in Metroid Fusion that isn't unsettling, but the Nightmare just adds a whole new level of unsettling to the game. And I guess the reason people got scared by the Nightmare was because they didn't want more unsettling feelings in an already extremely unsettling game.
I kind of liked how the music in the fight wasn't particularly upbeat or creepy. it just sounded like normal factory themed level music until the piano started as if to remind you that this is not what it seems and it's definitely been infected
Although I agree, keep in mind, Metroid doesn't do fan service haphazardly or for nostalgia. It has to make sense within the timeline and the game. Even AM2R knew this with Serris, Motroid Fusion mainly had creatures from SR388. So it would make sense Serris would be a boss in AM2R. But how would Nightmare fan his way into the game without it being nostalgia.

I feel like you could have added a little more. Less of the same thing over and over and more original additions/ changes to the song. Listen to "Gravity" From the Harmony of a Hunter 101% Run to get what im talking about. This is still a great remix though! 7.5 out of 10. :) Just trying to help out!

@RedEyedSlimeBoi actually Klara's creation was before sword and shield Also Klara and Christina are not actually from a game at all, they are my original characters
@RedEyedSlimeBoi well that's kind of thing with character intros sometimes are related sometimes they're not and considering that klara and Christina are not from a game I just hand pick some good remixes like both of their boss theme are related to Legendary Pokemons specifically the regi Trio and Deoxys
@RedEyedSlimeBoi none taken I can understand two girls fighting each other doesn't fit with a remix of nightmare but technically klara and Christina are let's just say otherworldly... after all they are the guardians of their perspective Megaversus

Nightmare....
Well, I guess if you're calling a creature Nightmare it's gotta live up to it's name...
And it does...
too bad the Nightmare from kirby sukz, and he is not even a treat,
BUT this thing? nobody can kill it in their first try.

+SnazzyMudkip I never thought about it like that....
It was already dead before Samus got there, so don't wory about feeling sorry for it. You're just fighting the X recreation of the creature!
Two words: space jaws
This is probably the most likely to actually be put in a Metroid Game.
Personally I think this is the best version I've heard, precisely because of the progressing atmosphere you created.
I give this remix 20/10.
I'll be doing many Metroid fan projects and Fusion is on my to do list. This song will be great for Nightmare boss fight (remade)
This remix is fantastic.
Man... the Nightmare. Best Boss Fight in the game.
Nightmare itself is still shrouded in mystery, to why The Federation had this thing in the first place.
how about we just call this - Nightmare Fusion ?
This arrangement of the song was great! Honestly the biggest flaw I noticed was that it was too short! I’m guessing space combat
Congrats! Scooterboot is using this for the upcoming Lunar Boss in Terraria in his Wavebank!
Man, this has to be his theme in the remake of Fusion.
In my opinion for the enviroment, the nature and impact that this boss inflicts is 10/10.
You did the 'evolving' part perfectly!
+David Hulatt Which one???
I think I'll give this a 7/10, because I've heard better. Still, not bad, considering you did this from scratch.

This is really cool sounding. Action blended with horror. Well done.
Hard to believe it was a newborn
as weird as this sounds, does anyone else think this is good homework music?
Definitely!
Not to me. If it was extended for 15-30 minets (I can't spell), it would be a near perfect homework song!
Jeffrey Webb Sector 4 theme is a homework music
llasz I'll give it a try.
Yeah is awesome, the sector 4 give the ambience for a hard homework
This arrangement is simply a master piece. Truly well done. 👏
The music still sounds like what plays when someone's sanity gradually decays
This is freaking A++. From now on this is my mood music before FL Studio time.

The remake would need to be dark. Not as bright as the samus returns remake was
This I have to say sounds like something right out of the Prime series
Can you make a longer version of this?
I'm sorry I don't think I have the sound files anymore
This sounds amazing! If only it were extended.
It took me a good 3 minutes for my eyes to make out what was on the screen, now i see it.
What were they thinking making a green slime blob in a suit of armour that manipulates gravity?!
This boss nightmare and nightmare-x is amazing game villain alien machine gravity is powerful but me I take him hard battle but was awesome.
Very good i Guess this is hard to make this theme epic so gg
You did a fantastic Job!

Always wondered why they thought it would be a great Idea, to let a creature called the nightmare. Just roam around as it pleases.
Dude you remix the finest shit.
Thank you much kind sir!

is there a download link to this???

EPIC
Excuse me, but what the hell is that picture? All I see is the Nightmare's gravity sphere thing.
Wait, wait, sorry.
Go fullscreen. It's face is as big as its orb. Not to game scale.
Only complaint? THis needs to be longer (10 min. if possible). Overwise, Definitely nails Nightmare's "good" side
Cool song but it's a bit off the odd 12/8 time signature and you tried to recreate it in 4/4?
I wonder if this boss could be in the new samus
best music.
😌😄
I agree that this should be put in other m because better and good
I think the best place to put Nightmare would be in a Prime game.
Why?
