My favorite of which were the A.P.I. rounds. I liked to think of them as a little bit of HELL packaged for a great delivery system. It’s not just the tomb that is any honor guard inspection. It’s an awesome thing to see and to see the little bits of flair that individual soldiers put into it as a show of strength, pride, etc. is one of the best things about this that I love seeing! Obviously there is a certain way it’s preformed to drill properly but there’s subtle differences that I can see (others that didn’t serve probably can’t see them) that make each individual ceremony unique! It’s similar to the way you can add to cadences in some units as long as you sound off and it sounds good when you’re doing it (it helps if you’re not the only one doing it but you can still get away with it if you are loud enough and it sounds good)

    • @thedude8128
      @thedude8128 Год назад +8

      That's not what muscle memory is.
      Muscle memory is remembering the shape it was through both repetitive isometric and isotonic exercises. It actually goes away after about 5-7 yrs if you don't repeat it.
      His regular memory is what is reminding him of his movements but his muscle memory is why he isn't dropping the rifle. The fact he can catch it but he's clearly still in shape so his muscle memory is in tact. But his minds memory is what completed this task.
      Interesting fact: if you work out properly for many years and stop for about 6-12 months. Go off diet etc you can go back and it would only take about 1-2 months of your same training program to get back to where you where. Even if you cause yourself entropy.
      That's what muscle memory is.

I am getting the notion that is a certain set of acts that had to be remembered in a particular order, which is much more impressive than I had first realized.
      The hand-eye coordination is fairly awe-inspiring, too. It's not like he is twirling it like a baton. It is very deliberate and strong.
      Either way, this is a man of the brotherhood, a man that served his country. Not much more on this Earth you could do that would capture my appreciation and admiration than that. This tradition is performed to example that he can never ever drop his gun under any circumstance because this is performed at the rifle inspection at the tomb of the unknown soldier. If you drop the gun you are dismissed forever.

      @@user-cn8me5nh8g in 2015 Tomb Guard Commander accidentally losing his grip on the rifle and putting the bayonet through the guard's foot.
      The look on the guard's face never changes. There's clearly a shock to the system as the bayonet slides home, but all you ever see from the guard is a very slight wince.
      The Old Guard is trained and drilled meticulously to maintain their professionalism, military bearing, and discipline. Accidents and outbursts from the Sentinels are extremely rare. As a matter of fact, if you weren't watching this incident closely, you may even miss what happened.
      Instead of running away, being carted off, or even being relieved, the Sentinel who was stabbed carried on with his shift. He marched back and forth along his route, blood oozing from his foot as he walked.
      Neither he, the commander, nor the other Sentinels ever missed a beat. They sharply finished their watch.

      @@user-cn8me5nh8g No he's correct that did happen in 2016(?). Wasn't a terrible cut but during the guard changeover ceremony the sentinel fumbled the inspection, and the tip of the bayonet went through the other dudes foot before he caught it.
