I'm kicking on 60 yrs old. Was supposed to go on from school and do a music degree..well that was never happening. That said. Songs from the Movie still rates as the best album I've ever heard. Pure poetry and musical genius. Beautifully crafted.
I just listened to this...after hearing MCC discuss the experience during an interview this past weekend. The idea of listening to my musical/lyrical idol performing with a live symphony was intriguing.....& I must say that I am simply speechless. It was everything just as she described. I was transcended for those few minutes while listening. Thank You, Mary, one more time!
This is a truly wondrous album - buy it and experience it. We are barely four weeks into 2014 and it is already my Album of the Year. Whoever reads this: do yourself a favour, buy this album and play it on huge speakers!
Already listened to the streaming of it and ordered it on the spot. Chapin's albums and songwriting are masterful all on their own. But to hear "I Am A Town" or "Only A Dream" with such tasteful orchestration is like discovering music for the first time. A+, Mary Chapin Carpenter!
I am, and will always be, in love with Chapin; it's a long-distance relationship, even though I was just 26 rows away in St. Louis recently with their magnificent Symphony. Just lean back in the seat, close your eyes, and let the songs take you there, live in a place, Powell Hall, that was once the St. Louis, a movie palace. Although my favorite of hers, "Where Time Stands Still", wasn't on the playlist that night, it's OK; I have it on the CD and the love affair continues.
Woow I Have Never Seen This Till Now ... After All The Years ... All The Pulling My Heart Strings Going With Me On In So Many Highs & Lows Issues Life Happenings Thank YOU GOD & Thank YOU Mary GOD BLESS KEEP YOU CAUSE HIS FACE TO SHINE UPON YOU & GIVE YOU PEACE SHALOM 🌈🌈💚😊❤
This will no doubt be phenomenal. I remember the chill when she did Mark Isham's 10000 miles. Glasgow would be amazing. Will let the Bose thunder this as soon as available. I fell in love with her music at 8 years old and 23 years later she never fails to create music that one way or another creeps it's way through your soul.
"10,000 Miles" from the Fly Away Home soundtrack is at the pinnacle of movie music. My soul goes soaring every time I listen to it. After watching this video, I can't wait for the new album to arrive in the mail.
Going to see this live in Ohio. Have a little drive to get there but look forward to it. Love her so much since I was 8. Glad to enjoy the accoustic night last fall with Shawn Colvin in Champaign, IL. Going to bring plenty to blow my nose on for this one. My #1 artist of all time.
Saw her Friday with the NY Philharmonic. An incredible experience and I have had the pleasure of enjoying lots of music for quite some time. This is an outstanding album/project/concept. I am so happy I saw her perform this live and bid you to grab the music if you have any desire to...you will be thrilled that you did!
Im in complete amazement at the beauty of this album. It is truly a master piece of emotion and sweeping arrangements of MCC's work. It is a must have even for the purest. To hear the orchestra take these songs to new heights is breath taking. Thank you for your amazing talent!
What a great concept and presentation of it here in this video. The outcome -- the orchestra & Mary Chapin Carpenter are wonderful. As a singer, this example of how songwriting, a singer, an orchestra, and director can create musical heaven is a new, clear fabulous formula. I also am looking forward to finding out who did the arranging -- so, so pretty.
& " EVERYTHING is connected" really,? whoever said that before? thought that before? knew that before? only you? or maybe others too? all one creator, all one creation there is nothing that was not Created, by A Creator. just One nice music MCC, very inspired and inspirational
I thought she gave it up long ago. But, considering all she has been through, she may have fallen off the wagon a few times. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/mary-chapin-carpenter-countrys-unlikely-star-184498/

How absolutely beautiful
I am so looking forward to this album. Since I will never be able to go to one of her shows, this will be my treasure instead.

All these years later she looks much younger and happier during covid. This may be presumptuous but I'm thinking "looks like she quit drinking".
