This is better than waking up on saturday morning to watch your morning cartoons in the 90's lol. Am going to try this RIGHT NOW!! Thank you you SEXY BEAST! Great stuff
Hi Jesse, PhysX works well, I've just found that the Tyflow interaction makes reasonably fast Phoenix sims painfully slow. Still getting the hang of it but it certainly looks promising, thanks for the tutorial!
Does it? I haven't noticed a drastic slow down unless the water is interacting with a huge amount of objects. it does get a bit slower but shouldn't be painfully slow
@@RedefineFX Yeah it's only 2 thousands spheres atm and it went from 20s/f to 2mn/frame. I have a powder dissolving in water kind of effect to do and I'm a bit worried about what's gonna happen when I crank up the Tyflow object count. Might have to look for an alternative solution.
Thanks for this amazing tutorial. I have one problem, I'm dropping an object (around 30cm height and width) into the water but no matter how much I adjust the mass of object in Tyflow or the buoyancy, I can't get my items to float! They just sink, am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.
@@RedefineFX Do not get me wrong. With your remade scene ~ 1: 1 it works well, in a way. But I changed it with a 2000% sphere, just one and it behaves like a stone. The water collides with the rock, it's ok. but don't move it in any way, not to mention it doesn't float. the idea was to put 3 beach balls on the water. BEACH STONES. :)))
@@RedefineFX If your scene interprets the spheres as ping-pong balls. works. something else that seems bigger, volume. it seems that others need to be changed. and here I mean the force with which the water strikes the object or the scale of the scene. I will never move a bus with a bucket of water, even if their size seems right. I'm still researching, I think it depends on the scale of the scene and / or the objects. or the relationship between them.
thank you so much for your tutorials I have a question. how can i use the foam particles from phoenix in tyflow, so i can replace the foam with a particle shape? i use birth flow and it doesnt let me select the grid object. what am i doing wrong?
Question about the wall.. is there a way for it to not break until the water builds up behind it, like a force and then it collapses. Currently the wall is breaking as the water hits it.. would be nice for the water to hit the wall, build some volume and then the wall gives away - or am I over thinking that waaay too much?
Hey Jesse. instead of generating spheres/particles I use the birth object node to bring in my two teapots. Everything else is setup as the tutorial, BUT.. , the teapot dont get pushed by the PheonixFD water.. I do see that the fluids interacts with them as they create swirls/splashes around them, but they dont move..Please advice
Hey Jesse, thanks for this. In your tut, you mentioned that "particle interface" should be on, also Tyflow should be solid object in Phoenix properties. In my previous tests, I kind'a skipped that (because haven't seen that in help) , and it seems that it's working. What are your thought's on this? Also, do you think that PhysX mass have an influence in PhysX fluid solver? Cheers. :)
It's possible! I was convinced the interaction wasn't working for me unless I made it a solid object. I'll test this out later. And yes, the mass makes a difference for something like destruction but with these balls it didn't matter.
One issue I found here was that if you output your Phoenix FD cache as VDB format then Tyflow doesn't read it and you don't get any velocity on the spheres. You need to output it in AUR format
Amazing tutorial as always, Jesse!! I have one question, what if you want to simulate the liquid in PhoenixFD in a different time scale? What happens to the TyFlow objects, are there an option to change the time scale of the little spheres too? EDIT: I found that there is a time scale in the TyFlow's modifier panel. I guess it will all work together if you set the same value, right?
How did you do the other example (the water breaking through the wall)? I removed the shape and icon position, added the voronoi fracture and added a birth object to my box (wall) but the water goes through the wall :/ It would be great if you could answer me!
Amazing work buddy. This is looking really great. These free high quality tutorials just reinforces why I enrolled to the course..

hi Jesie thanks for the Tut,jsut wondering if this method gonan work with Ty actor?

Are you planning a new paid course?
Thanks so much. Yes I'm working on a new tyflow course ;) Be sure to check out the destruction course though, I've added new lessons to it.

Try setting the mass to something low like 0.1

Great job. A quick question, is it possible to export this out and use in other 3d software?
Thank you and yes. Phoenix has an export tab & tyflow you can export as regular mesh geometry with the export operator.

Use birth objects operator instead of regular birth

You can uncheck the Mass override under PhysX Shape and give it a lower mass maybe 0.1 and the bigger objects should get pushed too.
