Let's Propagate Some Plants For Spring!

- My Plant Propagation Routine
1. Take cutting of a well hydrated plant with sanitized shears, I sanitize with rubbing alcohol. Make sure you have a node.
2. Dip cutting in rooting powder, I use the ferti-lome brand.
3. Allow cutting to callous, the amount of time will vary based on the plant and the environment.
4. This is a good time to clean up the cutting to prevent pests. I like to use a mixture of dish soap and rubbing alcohol diluted in water.
5. Put the cutting in water and wait for roots! I usually wait until there are a few inches of roots before transferring to soil.

In California, when there are oil spills in the ocean where the birds get covered in the stuff, the wildlife groups use DAWN to clean them. The oil would kill them, Dawn does not. I think it's safe enough for the plants.🙂🙃

I love too water prop too. I think the problem with using Dawn is the ratio your using it. It is a really strong detergent so you don’t much of it. I tried it an did dry out the plants leaves but there again I’m sure I put to much soap in it, even though I thought I’d had rinsed it well. Ppl gotta know what your doing an how to use it. Wow The biggest props ever!!! 💚💚💚

Thank you! It’s always so interesting to me how different things with plants work so differently for all of us, I guess we just all have to find what works for us!
The floor in the greenhouse is landscape fabric but full disclosure I do not like it and I’m putting gravel over it this week. It just gets muddy and can get slippery and hot in the summer since it’s black
