Oh hail reaper! Man I should have thanked Mike for making me pick up that series! Gonna be hard for anything to knock Lightbringer of my top spot for read of the year. Thanks so much for the kind words. They mean so much!
Legendary start to this new series on the channel! Absolutely loved the chat, I could listen to you two go on for hours!! Thanks for the top-tier entertainment ;)
Great talk, thanks for having Mike on. I would love to hear your reviews on Robin Hobb - she’s amazing and I definitely am more with Philip than with Mike because I absolutely loved them, the only series I enjoyed more is wheel of time.
Mike was amazing! I will be picking WoT back up in 24 and after I catch up with Cosmere I will either start Hobb or Malazan. I will put your vote down for Hobb. Thanks for all Scott.
Great chat, really enjoyed listening to y'all talk. I'm nervous about what Mike will think of Speaks the Nightbird 😅 McCammon is my favorite author and Nightbird is one of my favorites of his, but I feel like Mike is primed to not like it because of his previous two misses with McCammon and the length and slow burn plot. I like that you recommended Mine to him, which I'm more confident he would love.
I am right there with you I think Mine would be a homerun for him. I love the Corbett series so much. I think I will pick up 7 Shades as my next read in case it needs to make my 23 best of list. Can't believe we are at the end of the year. Thanks so much as always my friend.
@Talking_Story I'm reading Mister Slaughter right now, 100 pages left and it's been such a fantastic read. Might go directly into The Providence Rider when I'm done. Either that or Mystery Walk, or Stinger, not sure which one yet. Which one should I read next?
I had to scrap my first interview with Brian Freeman because I had the audio going to my headset so nothing got recorded (headbang). Luckily he came back for another interview later :D
I recently resumed RotE after being very disappointed with the conclusion of Farseer almost two years ago and really enjoying it. Hobb's character work is up there with GRRM just with the Farseer trilogy alone and it my only complaint with the last Farseer book was the really weird pacing, if it wasn't for that could've easily been my favourite Fantasy trilogy but then I finished Prince of Nothing haha. I'm not worried about the later books except Rainwilds and almost everyone hates those it seems I enjoy taking my time with longer series. It took me two years to read Malazan Book of the Fallen and Dresden Files took me over a year and a half. Plus I'm a big believer in taking breaks and if there isnt a clear stopping point, make one. RE Bound & the Broken is tropey but thats not the problem. There are parts that are pretty cliché though. Its fine but too traditional for my taste. Not my usual preference in Fantasy but I'll try Book 2 eventually.
Everyone says Bound and the Broken gets way better as you go on. Far as maxi series when I catch up with Cosmere this year and get back into WoT this year I think of starting Malazan or Hobb in 25. I am very much with you on breaks.
Things about it I love but the pace so far is not 1 of them and now I am at what is called the slog so I am a bit nervous about diving back in. But I am getting back to it in 24.@@thatsci-firogue
@@Talking_Story oh believe me, I've read the first 5 and books 4 and 5 were already a slog 🤣 Tbf I was still relatively new to Epic Fantasy at the time and I enjoyed my re-read of Book 1 earlier this year so hopefully on re-read it'll be a smoother ride. At the time I DNFed and pursued Malazan instead.
Thanks a ton for having me on!
Anytime. It is awesome when someone is as cool as you imagined them to be. Thanks for your time and inspiration.
I enjoy both you guys' channels and your reviews. I enjoy your positivity and your enthusiasm. Keep up the great work. Hail Reaper!

@@Talking_Story will keep my eyes peeled!!
Awesome podcast, keep up the great work!

Mystery Walk was an early work that is not as strong in my opinion as Stinger or if you want to stick with Corbett Providence Rider. @@Coleton2573
Oh man, i don't think I've ever fallen out of love with a series as much as i did with TWD. I dropped off during Season 7 and I've never looked back.
I am so conflicted to try this new mini series with Darryl or jump off.
@@Talking_Story He was one of the few characters I still liked by the time I stopped but not enough to go back.

Gotta love the tech issues!

The very end 😂
Glad you had a laugh!
Speaking of Tchaikovsky.... Guns of the Dawn is an excellent stand alone.
Oh I like stand alones. I will add that to my list!
I enjoyed reading Fairy Tales.
Which ones?
I love dream catcher
Read it when it first came out. Should probably put it on my re read list. Loose track of time just how long ago it was. 😀
Station Eleven is a great miniseries
Yes!
The Daryl Dixon tv series was the best Walking Dead content in many years
Really? I have been thinking of giving it a try or giving up. With your recommendation I will lean towards keeping my AMC.
I watched The Walking Dead 2 times. Can't wait for the return of Rick and Michonne in January.
Oh I do want to stick around for that you are so right. I will try the Darryl show.
@@Talking_Story the Daryl show is definitely better than the Maggie and Negan show.
@@mattamant915 that is great to hear!
@Talking_Story but, I'm struggling to get through Fear The Walking Dead. By far, the worst one in my humble opinion.
@@mattamant915 I left that 1 behind seasons ago.
