Ahhhh..... Kenny Rogers "The Gambler". One of the greats - RIP
Oh... And Dolly is of course the bomb!!!
Yes! The Gambler! It is a song that has a lesson to live by. Great song! You boys should def check it out
PLEASE play “The Gambler”!!
Yes “the gambler”! Great song!
I agree wholeheartedly!!!
If you want pure Kenny, checkout "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers. It's probably his iconic piece.
I second that and Coward Of The County
Everyone has to sing along to the gambler, it's the law.
I'm not sure what "Pure Kenny" is though because he was arguably a pop star as much as a country star. "Lady" was his biggest song. (Biggest song for Lionel Richie as a songwriter too.)
Loves The Gambler by Kenny Rogers!! I sing the chorus often.
Bobby Bare’s version of the Gambler came out first and it’s way better. Kenny is pure pop music.
They were friends for 50 years. He died this year. Dolly tweeted her love for him and was all choked up.
I always thought they had something. They both said never. I love this one
@Rachel P Me too. Just thinking about it is making me tear up.
And his death was completely overshadowed by Coronavirus news. So not right
I was fortunate enough to date the son of a flight attendant from Houston that grew up with him. She had great stories! They used to sneak into their local movie theater b/c neither of them had money. Every one remembers the Gambler, and I remember The Coward of the County.
Miley Cyrus is Dolly’s goddaughter- her and Jimmy Fallon do a spot on recreation of this
These two are adorable. I love how they’re listening to all genres of music.
omg you two are so cute listening and giving respect to the old stuff.
@@videoarchiveman Quite racist comment there mate they clearly just have good taste let them enjoy what they enjoy just assuming what they listen to by their colour is extremely wrong
@@videoarchiveman wow
Don’t feed the troll
videoarchiveman What has the colour of their skin got to do with anything !!
videoarchiveman videoarchiveman your comment was clearly derogatory, racist & completely uncalled for.
I love these two young men. They are very open minded and really are respectful. They appreciate the MUSIC no matter what kind or how old or new. They feel it...every beat every word. No negativity, they just let each song take them on a journey.
" LADY" - Kenny Rogers
One of the Best Love Songs! 😍 ruclips.net/video/ZYRfUoR9Q4Y/видео.html
They like story telling songs, "Coward of the County" or "Lucille". Lady is great but not at full of a story.
Six Pack
Written by Lionel Ritchie
Yes!!!!
Just love watching people listening to and appreciating all kinds of music.
I appreciate you all giving old school music all this love and attention. You guys are my favorite reaction duo.
Ooh do "Fancy: by Reba McEntire
“Lady” is a must listen. RIP Kenny! 😥
Just requested that myself 💘🌷
Dolly said someone asked her how she had such an itty bitty waist. She said “Honey, nothing grows in the shade!”
🤣🤣🤣
😂
Lol I read that 4 times then the light came on.... laugh so hard
@@bsing2u Meanwhile, my light is still very much off 😅
@@rameychisum2891 Dolly: "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap."
The Bee Gees, who wrote this song, also recorded their own version. Look it up.
Ideally the live version they did in Las Vegas in 1997! Better than their studio recording IMO 🥰
The BeeGee's wrote most songs in this era...
It has their trademark style completely.
Happy to be wrong but I thought the Bee gees produced it and Dolly Parton wrote it?
You should listen to Kenny Rogers “Lady” Lionel Ritchie wrote it for him!
Lady is an awesome song.
Bee Gees also write alot of hits some of which Kenny Rogers sang, saw him in concert, KENNY ROGERS WAS EXCELLENT
🤣🤣 I just wrote that!!👌👌💘
YES!
U HAVE 2!!!🙋🏾♀️😉
This is mine & my husband's song🙂. We moved in together with out even having an actual date. Three months later we got married. Been together 36 years now, and every day is better than the day before.💞
Love it and you 🥰🥰🥰💙💙💙🙏🙏🙏
This is precious ❤️❤️❤️
Awwwww! Where is the LOVE button when you need it?
Wow I thought we were fast. Met and married 8 months later. One complication was I was married to someone else and thankful that was easy to get out of. Oh that was 43 yrs and triplets ago.
@@NYCgirl927 I was married when we met too. Hadn't heard from him in over a year since I put him & all his stuff in the street. So, I just skipped the divorce part & married my husband. Yes I've got guts 🤣
Please check Kenny Rogers out on his own. You talk about a velvet voice. The Gambler, Coward of the County...so many to choose from!!
Yes to the GAMBLER!
Not to mention his old rock days. Fk! I’m old! Hahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
Definitely The Gambler! I also love Coward of the County. Amazing storyteller
COWARD OF THE COUNTRY is one of my favorite songs.
Try “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town”, one of his early hits with First Edition.
Thank you. Thank you for being respectful and giving this music what it deserves. You two are amazing young men.
They were legends individually and together in country and crossover music, and very good friends for many years. The song itself is about an epic love and connection of souls. The beauty and power of their voices and the chemistry of this live performance should be preserved forever because I believe it is one of the most magical moments ever recorded in entertainment. I'm glad you liked it.
Healthy MBS This is absolutely a great moment in live music. Just an all-time performance by both. When you think of some of the greatest performances of live music on TV like Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Prince and others, this belongs right there.
Two legends. You can't NOT like this song.
🙋🏾♀️👊🏾
I love seeing the younger generation getting so into the older generations music!! ❤️
Someday when you turn gray you will know how a song from years ago throws you back to moments when you were young. Melancholy.
I used to sing Dolly's parts of this song in my bedroom with my hairbrush microphone and imagining someone special was singing Kenny's parts - lol - things we do :)
Look at their presence on stage. You can almost feel it inside. If you look at every time they were on stage together they looked as if they were lovers. Only best friends for 50yrs. RIP KENNY ROGERS
I love how you guys give respect where it’s due to these hit songs regardless of the artist race , creed or color!!! Mad respect to you!!! Love your videos and you y’all!!!
I'm just surprised at these 2 s reactions, I thought and I watched the whole thing thinking of the funny stuff they was going to say at the end but no they kept it completely real and I got mad respect for that , i grew up to these singers so I agreed with them both 💯
Dolly Parton might be the greatest person ever born in Tennessee...glad you like her :)
Yep. She can sing and act. AND there's Dollywood. 😍
@ And her program of getting free books to underprivileged kids all over the world. Started in her hometown of Tennessee but expanded it worldwide.
Then there's her reading books online to children during covid-19
Then there's the fact she donated $1,000 a month to the people of Tennessee after a storm
Woman's a damn saint ❤️
She has an amusement park. I'm out...
@@kristitrimble9658 that amusement park supplies jobs that weren’t there before she did it. They also are the leaders in green practices in Tennessee. Not to mention all the money she donated to help create a covid Vaccine.
This was adorable! I have to say that in my radio career when I'd see how much the younger generation enjoyed oldies, I knew it was because a good song is a good song and it's still a good song years later. While we as the older generation might have heard enough of certain songs or artists, to the younger folks, this is a new song for them. I love this!
My wife love both Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers! Y’all just made her birthday epic! Thank you!
Thats amazing happy birthday to your wife. I hope you both are doing good with the pandemic. Just remembered love can conquer all if you believe in it and work hard on your relationship. Have a amazing rest of the year. Sending love and positivity to two beautiful Queens and please pay it forward to someone you don't know and make their day better.
You two are amazing. So young, accepting, open-minded and appreciative of such a wide variety of musical genres. Love your channel! Keep it up - there's lots of music out there!
I really love the respect you show all songs. Even if we know it´s not your type of music you always show respect, love it!
Kenny Rogers was originally alone when he first tried to record this song.. He hated it...he tried singing it many different ways. Over and over... no matter what he did nothing sounded right. I can't remember where Dolly was but she was some place close to the recording studio. Somebody in the studio knew that she was around so they called her up and had her come in. of course Dolly liked the song. She started to sing some of it. And that's when they decided that maybe it would be better as a duet . There you have it
.. Islands in the Stream.
@Ann Stearns
🎶 You ALL really KNOW your ~Dolly & ~Kenny Rogers history! 📜
Awesome! I didn't know that! So glad he got Dolly! I was lucky enough to see them sing this live together a few years ago. I definitely cried cuz it was the last time they'd ever sing the song together and it was such a special moment.
"Dolly walked into the Room and it was like magic, from then on the song was completely different."
-Kenny. Love their relationship such friendship goals.
Bee Gees not only wrote the song, but produced the album, so it's quite possible the suggestion came from them too.
Dolly started her Imagination Library for children. There could will receive a free book a month. She also does online story times. It was started in 1995 in honor of her father who didn't know how to read.
Love how seamlessly they switch from melody to harmony from 1s verse to 2nd & the key change :) This song always made me feel so happy to sing along to!
Written by the beegees they are someone you need to react too probably the best group in history
Oh definitely “ I will always love you “
The Bee Gees are/were amazing! Please listen to "Fanny" - would love to see your reaction!
Paul McCartney and Barry Gibb 2 of the best songwriters and singers of all and any time
@Icestorm the Beatles took what the BeeGees started and perfected it
Daniel Smith Hardly. The Bee Gees came after the Beatles.

One of my favorite songs! My favorite duo! Their voices are heavenly together.
My favorite song EVER! I used to play this song on the jukebox when I was a kid. This song was written by the Bee Gees. Thank you so much for sharing this ❤
Two of my favorite artist from the 60's and the 70's. RIP Kenny! Miss you. ❤❤
You need to listen to Dolly's version of I Will Always Love You and, while listening to it, think about how she wrote it for her longtime musical partner (and rumoured extramarital affair) when she decided to go out on her own. She apparently played it for him at the end... Whitney obviously did an amazing reinterpretation, but Dolly's is the original and it's so powerful.
Oh, and Kenny Roger's The Gambler is a must listen. An all-time country classic.
And EVERY artist has asked to do that song. Elvis was supposed to, but the deal fell through because they didn’t want to pay her as the writer. Don’t mess with the original Boss Bitch! Love her for teaching us women to stand up for what we deserve!
For me, nothing can top Dolly’s original. As much as I love Whitney, there is just something extra about Dolly’s that can’t be beat.
I’ve never heard Dolly and Porter were anything more than singing partners. She wrote the song for him because he was resisting letting her out of their contract to go out on her own. She said she couldn’t get through to him, so she wrote this song and made him sit down and listen to it and he cried and agreed to let her go out on her own.
@@tanyahopper1883 Porter was married 3 times . I can imagine him making a play for Dolly , but I saw them perform together, when it looked as if she didn`t even want to be close to him . I always suspected that he had acted inappropriately . At that time , there was a major problem in Nashville with powerful men in country music expecting " favors " .
She said in her biography there was no affair. She has been rumored with many men but that’s how the industry sells records and movie tickets, because gossip peaks interest. Billy Ray Cyrus said in an interview how he got upset when while working as her opening act a tabloid created an article claiming they were having an affair. Dolly called him into her dressing room and the article was sitting on the table. Billy started trying to talk to her about it and she stopped him and said “this s&@$ sells records”. She doesn’t let the stories get to her because people will believe what they want so she’s not going to waist her time on it.
Did you guys know that Barry Gibb of the BeeGees wrote this song? It just shows you the level of talent involved. It's amazing how a pop act like the BeeGees can write a country song...and a classic one at that.
Thanks, never knew this.
Was the second song at my wedding 💒 -growing up in the 80s you definitely knew Kenny and Dolly
They were really good friends. She made a video when he died and she was crying. She’s at that age group where her friends are dying. That’s rough.
indeed.
Listen to Bobby Gentry - Ode to Billy Joe
I love how you both are expanding your musical knowledge, I love you both
That song is so well written
That would be fantastic. Or Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield
I was was going to request this too, they say they like songs with a story and this one is great story telling. We still don't know what they threw off the tallahatchee bridge!??
Oh yes💜💜💜
I teach a mini - unit on Ode to Billie Joe in my English courses. That song is perfection.
I enjoy y’all so much. In the trying times we’re all dealing with, you uplift my spirit. God and music are a welcomed balm for weary souls.

{I HOPE The Gents 'REACT' to it! I've reQUESTED.◀
Every young man should hear Coward of the County by Kenny Rogers!
There's so many other good songs by Kenny to recommend before the one where the man's girlfriend getting gang raped drives him to seek revenge.
@@dianaprobst3157 The significance in the lyric change of fight TO BE a man vs WHEN you are a man is so pivotal though.
@@randomgirl2173 I understand that. But it's still plot-driven by a woman's suffering, just like those action movies where the hero's wife/girlfriend/daughter is kidnapped/raped/killed. She's nothing but a plot device to drive his story. Kenny has many other good songs-The Gambler, for instance, if we're talking life lessons.
@@dianaprobst3157 That's a fair point. For me personally I appreciate the whole story of the song and many of the individual lyrics.
I am curious other than The Gambler and Islands in the Stream what Kenny Rodgers songs would you reccomend - I'm definitely a Dolly fan, but I'd love give some more of his songs a listen too.
@@dianaprobst3157 That is a valid point but I have always looked at it differently. I looked at it from a general point of view. Every person; man or woman, no matter how weak they may seem, will react in an unexpected way when pushed to the wall.
I am not a country music fan at all - but Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers - I enjoy their music. #RIP Kenny 😪
Kenny Rogers caused many a female heart to flutter. May he RIP
You can't help but feel good after listening to this song. It's a happy song. Always one of my faves.
One of my favorite songs reminds me of my parents dancing in our converted garage in the 80s..
I love how you guys find something to appreciate about pretty much anything. It's refreshing, and makes me appreciate things, too.
Try Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler" or "Ruby" you'll really get a taste of his music.
And "Lucille". All these songs bring back such vivid memories of my Kentucky childhood. It was Gospel and Country music all the time everywhere.
Yes yes!!
And “I just dropped in (to see what condition my condition was in)”
Ruby, a story song.
Never heard this "live" version before. She's funny. I loved Kenny back in the day. Totally missed that he passed away but we were deep in really sick covid in our house then. Wow, he passed almost a year ago.
Love Fred's smile when Dolly walks on stage!
You wanna hear a great trucker song from the 70s ... “Convoy” by C.W. McCall (the road was a totally different place and attitudes in the 70s 😁

You guys are adorable....yes the voices of Dolly and Kenny are the real thing...and I grew up thinking they were old fashioned and I hated “country” but now I wish we had more sweet love songs like this being made today!
When I was younger I wanted Dolly and Kenny to adopt me. They just look so happy together here ❤️
I wanna adopt these two. They’re so endearing, so cute, and I can’t get over how open minded and generous they are. I mean, this music is too white for white people. But they’re bringing it all back for me. And I’m loving watching them get their groove on.

A MUST! Kenny Rogers: Lady
Written by Lionel Richie
Oh, you need to listen to Kenny Rogers singing "Lady." Lionel Richie wrote the song for him. Sooo good! It's a love song. And Kenny and Dolly singing "WE Got Tonight" in 1985--another great love ballad (He originally cut that song with Sheena Easton, but Dolly sings it with him in this live version.) I like seeing the original Kenny Roger's singing Lady in th e1980s and then I love when he and Lionel Richie sing it together when Kenny is giving him a tribute and tells a story of how the song came to be.

That was my mom and dad's song, when mom heard it she fell in love with it and she always said that was their song,
Dolly and Kenny were best friends and sing a lot of Duets Over The Years. Kenny has a phenomenal voice so if you have not heard Kenny before I would recommend several songs. The Gambler, Sweet Music Man, Lucille and The Greatest.
A lot of his songs are storytelling songs and he really sings them well. But you need to start out with The Gambler.
I so enjoy watching you listen to these older country artists because that was the generation of music I grew up with besides of course rock and roll back in the 60s 70s and 80s.
🎶 YES! C-Town, Also. Home of Rock 🎸 & Roll🎶🎵🎼
Now you need to watch "Pras Feat. Ol Dirty Bastard & Maya - Ghetto Superstar" - they sampled Islands in the Spring in the 90s and it was great!
No - it was NOWHERE great
It's an ok song. Dolly and Kenny's version was better tho in my opinion
Just remember this is live and no autotune. Back when you had to have a good voice.
Tons of artists today have great voices without autotune and many artists who rely on autotune are still very talented (lyrics, emotion, energy, etc.) These kids are opening their minds to music of the past and you should do the same to music of the present.
