Hello Jeff - great stuff! Would be really happy to see a video explaining ACLs, UI policies, Business Rules and Client Scripting and when to use each. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this video. I am trying to find the gear icon for the system settings and theme. However, I do not see the gear. Has the ServiceNow UI changed ?
Hi Jeff, thank you so much for these lessons, I am enjoying it and learning ServiceNow as a great tool. on registering on the developer portal, my UI screen is completely different from what you have on your screen, you have the major components as shown, I can only see see the App engine studio with some content topics like quick start, templates etc
That sounds odd, and I think I got an email from you with screenshots. It's almost as if you've chosen to set yourself up as an App Engine Studio only user. Let me know if you are still having this problem and maybe we can jump onto a Zoom call and work through it together.
Hey David. First you need to get yourself a personal developer instance (PDI). Checkout this video on how to do that (entirely free): ruclips.net/video/DRU9cxH-TKg/видео.html. Once you have that and get logged in, you should see a menu item top left labeled 'All'. Click on that menu item and it should open the application navigator. Let me know if you're still stuck and we can figure out together. Thanks!
What would you say ServiceNows biggest strengths and weaknesses are functionality wise and what features would you say make the platform unique and different compared to others?
Great questions! One of the greatest strengths of SN is the enterprise-wide database. Normally, IT is working with countless databases each built to support their specific application's data needs. Then, we spend time trying to figuring out how to integrate and move the data back and forth when other applications need it. With SN, it's literally all one database and different applications can be granted access to whatever data they need. No more 'stovepipe' databases. I also love the idea of making the design and delivery of IT solutions available to non-IT employees. SN is working hard on things like 'citizen development' and 'low code / no code' tools. I love the idea. They have a ways to go, but it's getting fairly simple to create process and workflows with intuitive and easy to use tools.
Great content and thanks so much for what you are doing to help. When are you going to do a presentation on the San Diego release (NEXT EXPERIENCE UI)?
It's much more than customer service. I think of ServiceNow as an attempt to provide what a company's IT department provides, via a cloud-based platform. I don't think I've done a great job of encapsulating all that it does. I'm going to work up another video to try and fill in the gaps. Thanks for the question!
Thank you very much for this series, it's very helpful in preparing for my certification exams. The presentation slides on your website are linking to the wrong file, can you update them with the slides from this video?
I'm glad the series is helpful! I'll be adding more vids to complete in the next few weeks. I'll also take a look at the website to validate the links to supporting files. Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback and for being part of the channel. Just FYI, I've recently published a full ServiceNow Fundamentals course that can be found at www.servicenowsimple.com. It includes 15 lessons with downloadable study notes and sample cert test questions. Please share with others that might find useful!

Your face video covers up the area that you are describing the tools area of the UI
How do I get to the platform user interface on my new instance? I should be good after this.
You should be able to just login and then click the 'All' menu item to access the Application Navigator. Let me know if you are still having issues.
@@ServiceNowSimple I am still having problems. I do not see Application Navigator under All menu.
so it's customer service ?
