I’m 61 yrs old now and have photos of myself in the pool there when i was 6mths old. My parents did a trip thru jasper banff in 1958, in my dads 57 beetle. Also have photos of my sister feeding bears on the side of the rd, guess they didn’t know any better
Gerry do you know why it closed down, they should open it again its good for health, arthritis, asthma , etc, instead of tablets with side effects, best wishes, amazing that you have photos ,Lucy
oscar monte the mountain it was built on is unstable, so they built a new facility about a mile east. Miette Hot Springs. It’s nice place for a dip, 4 pools, 2 cold, 1 warm and 1 hot.
Cool, Gerry!! Good memories! I am 64 and have memories of places we went as a family in Idaho. Lots of fishing and trekking along with my dad, the "Big Fisherman and his older daughter (my sister, 12 years older than me) who wanted to be a fisherman like he was!! Went to Loman, Idaho South Fork Payette River Lodge. We rented cabins right on the river. Such good memories, thank you!
I knew I recognized it! Visited Miette Aquacourt several times as a kid with my family in the late 70s. Went back in the 80s and it was fenced up. Will never forget that feeling of being in a huge warm (but stinky) pool in the middle of the woods and the view over the edge down to the creek below. The place had such charm & it is a shame to see the state she is in now. BC is actually where this prairie girl started exploring abandoned places with my first camera in 1984!
I went with my grandparents in 1977-78. It was so amazing at that time. My grandfather used to drink the spring water coming from the mountains. (He lived to be 98 years old.)
Thank you for taking us down there in that cave. You have more guts than I would. I would find it too claustrophobic. But that view is something else from the top of the mountain. The old hot springs building was cool to see. I was surprised to see the wooden walkways were still in good condition. Another great video, Dustin.
Dear Dustin; Whohoo !!! Wow that was so good for you. Gettin over thinking fear all the time. Courage is doing something even though your afraid while doing it. Lots of courage you showing now. So proud. Thanks so much for sharing. bye for now. Jeanie
I just discovered you today, Jan. 2, 2017. Have watched a bunch of your videos today. This one was ........breathtaking. Literally. I could not have gone down in that cave, even in my youth! So scary. Thank you for letting me do this through you!!! Love the scenery in your vids, too. Such beautiful country. Am mother to 5 sons, most of whom may be older than you, but all 5 love adventure. Only one has been to BC. I'm from Utah and we have beautiful scenery in the mountains, too, but this is just spectacular!! I think 4 of my 5 sons would have loved every minute of your adventures, even the scary rappelling down into that cave!!! Oh, my! I was scared for all of you! Take CARE!! And thanks for wonderful adventures. Love your narration as well. Not too much, not too little. Just right!!! You are amazing!!
Like how you explain everything...I was sitting here wondering how far you went in and then it pops onto the screen. Thanks for taking us with on your adventures!
Cool video. But as soon as I saw the mountain sheep bones, I would have been outta there. A nice hot spring to go to is Ainsworth Hot Springs. Nice hotel, nice food and lots of exploring in the area. Camping is good too....
I live in Southern Illinois USA there is a cave that was found by a farmer his dog fell down into it. You had too descend down into it some 30-40 feet which opened into a large room not sure how far this cave ran, my husband and I maybe went a mile or so in. It is now closed and sealed after cave explores found a rare albino salamander that is on the endangered list. This is one of a few that really remained untouched with modern lights paths ect.
I enjoy your videos. They are always outside the norm....very adventurous and perked full of excitement . You do things that we all would like to do....but don't have the nerve......thanks
Spent a summer working at CKWL some 50 years ago. (FYI.) Have toured the province extensively and thought I knew it well but your vids have opened my eyes. As a trucker I have driven past Jasper Lake many times and always thought it was just a widening of the Athabaska River (Which it is , essentially.). Very interesting to learn it has a name and is only 1 Ft. deep. I can understand why you were worked out after spelunking that cave. Not particularly claustrophobic but it's not a place I would have gone. When I was slightly older than Mr. Hohmann my father took us through most of the hot springs in Alberta and B. C. (About the same time as his list.) Not sure if I was at that one. Perhaps you or Gerry could tell me the name of it, and why it is no longer in use. Another one you might like to explore is `The Cave and Basin' in Banff. It was one of my favourites but has been closed to the public for many years and I don't know why.
Hate caves, we have a large one close to Meeker Colorado that my son drug me into several times and never again. Had chills just watching you adventure there. But Thanks for the experience. Glad you are out ok. Thumbs up for the hot springs. We also have an abandoned hot springs close to us.
Judging by the ruins , this place looks like it was beautiful and very impressive NOT to mention the gorgeous surroundings & the host isn't too bad either !!👏😁😂
I am a new subscriber I like your style of videos, your approach to them, and your motto, " take only photos, and leave only footprints " you are very brave to go into that cave. I imagine that it is very humbling as well. great job and thanks for video.
That was Miette hot springs which was wiped out in a rockslide in the late 70s or early 80s (can't remember exactly). The new pools are st the end of the trail he was on.
I love Miette and still go there. First time I went with my boyfriend and we stayed at some really nice cabins. The road going up was scary as it wasn't paved and it was a long slow ride. Of course now they have an entirely new hotsprings pools that are very nice and all modern. The motel and the cabins are still there as well. I would recommend going there. Nice camping at the beginning of the park just beware that Jasper is bear country! Respect the bear!
Have u ever had anyone comment saying hey thats my grandma or anyones house or place or any storys on what happened to those houses and who now owns them i heard if u fix up and keep the up keep of an abondoned place and can prove u did the work n keeping it up it is now urs after a year
Thanks for that video! I have spent allot of time around Jasper and mount robson and never knew about those . We have sulphur springs just outside of prince george that smell just as nice. I see your editing is getting better as well. Keep up the good work.
Whats cool is when you go to the "new" miette hotsprings, they show the images on one wall and this building is what is shown in this video. Amazing how they diverted the hot springs from here to the new location isn't it?
Had a minor anxiety attack when you were in the cave?(really deep hole.?) Awesome video I love it up there. I really enjoy seeing the left side of Canada. Cheers 🇨🇦
Very cool vid man I don't know if I would even try that.... lol sweet view cool time lapse too. Thats pretty neat thanks for taking us a long for the adventure. Maybe that bad feel is way the had to shut down?
Cool cave system! There is a small cave area in Chillawack called chipmunk caves. Not as death defying but if you ever head out that way maybe stop and check em out. Also, good job hitting the gym. Looking good!
POWs were used for road construction in areas around there. They built at least one hot spring facility in Banff(I was told) Brule lk was a WWI camp it said on an old photo. Cool stuff.
New subscriber. Great adventure. I know I would not have enough strength to pull myself up on a dangling rope. I was thinking the plywood floor you were standing on, and the running water you heard, might only be a cover over an old bath area where the hot water was and people soaked.
LOVED THE ADVENTURE, ITS AWESOME , SHAME ABOUT THE HOT SPRING THEY SHOULD OPEN IT AGAIN FOR HEALTH CONDITIONS IT HELPS THE SULPHAR , IN FRANCE THE GOVERMENT HAS REOPENED THEM AND THEY SEND SICK PEOPLE FOR TREATMENT , THANK YOU FOR THE RIDE, LOVE LUCY
I do love a good cave to explore. Especially when, after walking through long, winding tunnels for ages, you come through to some giant cavern, like an underground cathedral made from solid rock. It can be pretty awe inspiring. One hobby I have never understood though is potholing! Crawling, maybe hundreds of metres underground, in a tunnel barely big enough to fit in, with no way of turning around, plus if you've never done a particular route before, and don't know anyone that has, you have no idea what's up ahead, if it's going to widen or get even tighter, potentially trapping you. I've heard a couple of horror stories, where someone has got stuck in a narrow tunnel, unable to move, and all rescue attempts fail, and the person has actually died down there. I can't imagine many more awful ways to go! Unable to move, far underground, maybe in pitch darkness and unable to be rescued. Bugger that!
this type of cave diving is called spelunking, I've done some here in much smaller caverns. in my cave at the bottom of a crevice is is a little stream
+Dustin Porter another awesome vid my bro, i really need to try and get over there sometime, we dont have much like that here in NZ, really enjoy watching what you make, keep them coming
8:00 I was there in the late 70s when I was still in public school. Some idiot parents took their 2 year old into the water and weren't watching. He went under and I saved the little bugger. Then my old man, also a professional idiot, decided it would be "fun" to roll back down the mountain with the van in neutral. Cooked the transmission. lolz I can't believe the condition the place is in now.....
Hmm, that hot springs place could totally be opened up with a natural small pool. I bet it would be popular. Nice scenery but then again it seems similar to Norway so I would expect epic scenery.
I'd be shitting purple Twinkies going down into that cave, especially after seeing that poor sheep's skeleton :( the hot springs resort is definitely a place I'd go exploring, and relaxing in the healing water!
It's right beside Miette Hot springs in Jasper, which is still open during the summer. It's a popular place and the places in the video are a short walk from it. Super easy to access. Yeah to the workout to keep the arm strength up for adventures like that. 💪🏻💪🏻. Thanks for sharing
Wow, crazy cave 😮 Your skills have improved greatly since this video. Always very informative.
I'm addicted to climbing mountains, but you couldn't put me in that cave at gunpoint. Brrrrr. To each his own.
Ok, I just have to say there is no way I could have done this, I would've been having a panic attack. My hat goes of to you !!!
Dear Dustin; Whohoo !!! Wow that was so good for you. Gettin over thinking fear all the time. Courage is doing something even though your afraid while doing it. Lots of courage you showing now. So proud. Thanks so much for sharing. bye for now. Jeanie

Beautiful scenery in that area. Always love going through there. Didn't know about the cave or hot springs !! Nice adventure.

i have been to that hot spring several times. it is definitely the best commercial hot spring around.

Thanks for sharing Dustin! Love the adventure videos!!!
last summer my best friend and I kept going up the trail and backpacked way back in there to utopia mountain and past. beautiful country.
the whole are here is breathtaking. never get sick of those views.

Great one
Brilliant- more thoughtful sounding
I grew up in Tete Jaune and went there as a kid. Love going back there today still. Great vid.
There is another cave above the scales at Tete Jaune, above the lake.
I am a new subscriber I like your style of videos, your approach to them, and your motto, " take only photos, and leave only footprints " you are very brave to go into that cave. I imagine that it is very humbling as well. great job and thanks for video.
loved the senary again love the views you take!
Loving the BC scenery and the Canadian accent :)
That was Miette hot springs which was wiped out in a rockslide in the late 70s or early 80s (can't remember exactly). The new pools are st the end of the trail he was on.
awesome video! I'm going to go visit that abandoned hot spring on my next adventure
Its a short walk past the current hot springs.
Been to the Miette resort many times as a kid in the 70's. I've also been to the newer hotsprings resort too a few years ago.

Been here quite a few times, and drive by it a few times a week super easy to find, there is a maintained trail system to it.
Had a minor anxiety attack when you were in the cave?(really deep hole.?) Awesome video I love it up there. I really enjoy seeing the left side of Canada. Cheers 🇨🇦
You have great videos keep up the great work we are loving them
Very cool vid man I don't know if I would even try that.... lol sweet view cool time lapse too. Thats pretty neat thanks for taking us a long for the adventure. Maybe that bad feel is way the had to shut down?
I agree with purple twinkies guy. Kudos to you because I could not do that adventure.
It looks much like Banff Cave and Basin hot springs. I hiked around there a lot as I drove a seniors bus there for several years.🚌
Nope, too claustrophobic to do that kind of caving but I'm glad I can watch you do it. Great video.
Miss the place, should have modernized it. It had charm and really reflected a very wonderful time in the past. Sad to see it go.
That was awesome...Peace be with you brother
This is a cool channel with fresh perspectives. Keep up the good work!
the cave was claustrophobic. i had a small panic attack just watching it, but at least you can say you did it.
Cool cave system! There is a small cave area in Chillawack called chipmunk caves. Not as death defying but if you ever head out that way maybe stop and check em out. Also, good job hitting the gym. Looking good!

Might want to be careful lizard men live down their. I heard they are related to the queen lol
Miss my home town
Sorry I missed this one when you first posted it. Awesome cave adventure!
Love watching these videos! Such beautiful scenery compared to what we have in England !
Hi Ruby 💘
Great Job Dustin!!
I've been to the same hot spring resort it's beautiful country up there
Nice veiw of the Ice Fields. Last time I was in Jasper was 1998.

Bugger that!
I think. They call this. Pot holing in UK. Very. Popular up north. More rocks. I found a couple. In Wales. Mostly. Sheep remains in them !!
That’s cool that you’re from Williams lake ! I live in Fraser Lake
funny you found bones down at the bottom, its actually quite rare animals will fall down those caverns and then its all game over.
we found 2 skulls and several sets on bones
Air quality would be of some concern 😅 great work
That hotspring building looks similar in design to the Banff hotspring facility. Perhaps they all look the same, or ?
Jasper's pretty cool 😎 I live here and I love it.. next time your here you should check out the cave in Maligne canyon..
Exactly where is the abandoned hot spring hotel? Do you have coordinates or something? Thanks.
Yes Sure www.thisbigadventure.com/exploring-jasper-source-of-the-springs-trail-explorealberta/
this type of cave diving is called spelunking, I've done some here in much smaller caverns. in my cave at the bottom of a crevice is is a little stream

This is how The Descent started.
I believe they. Found. Some caves. In. France. And. Some. Found ancient. Artifacts in. Them. Which is. Interesting. !!!?😮
Que coragem você é um grande aventureiro , tá de parabéns com essa coragem
Good times
Hmm, that hot springs place could totally be opened up with a natural small pool. I bet it would be popular. Nice scenery but then again it seems similar to Norway so I would expect epic scenery.
They opened a new place after the old one was wrecked by a rock slide. The new hot springs are at the beginning of the trail he took
great adventure video.
Lovely time lapse in the intro!
I just love this area of BC. Takes me back to some wonderful memories. Thank you.
That’s Alberta, you should know that...
Again great video! Keep it up.
I have been there so many times

I'd be shitting purple Twinkies going down into that cave, especially after seeing that poor sheep's skeleton :( the hot springs resort is definitely a place I'd go exploring, and relaxing in the healing water!
Nice adventure.
Amazing! Thanks for sharing, how on earth did they get concrete trucks to that remote site to even dream up that place!
Dustin is the Goat
Greetings fellow youtubers
where is the abandoned hot springs located? If you could tell me it would really mean a lot
It's right beside Miette Hot springs in Jasper, which is still open during the summer. It's a popular place and the places in the video are a short walk from it. Super easy to access. I was surprised to see a video taken here considered "abandoned" because the public hot spring is still there and very popular.
Where is the abandoned hot springs and the lake that is one foot across?
Another great video!
As he's explaining the unexplored part of the cave... "Have you not seen The Decent!?!?!?!????:
i just watched the trailer for that movie. definitely should have watched the show before i went. up the scare factor a little
I was thinking of the one with the guy who cut his hand off....
