I deeply appreciate this video. You are saying nothing I WANT to hear but everything you’re saying about the Job Industry is what I NEEDED to hear. AI is hiring me, thinking good training is ever coming isn’t true. I will work to ask questions about the job and how to interview them. Thank you!
AI isn’t going to replace you; but it will cut costs to make sure you don’t have a job. The issue with this is that there can be heavy biases that are embedded into the results that the AI produces which can have disastrous effects on a business. However, As someone with a business degree from a “world class university”, I want companies to f*** around a find out. Equilibrium will always be found; we’re just witnessing a pendulum swing too far towards one of the poles; the only way this can go is towards equilibrium because we quite literally cannot endure this for more than 1-2 years (at this rate).
it quite literally degrades humans to numbers on spreadsheet. While this is a given, working in corporate, it sets unrealistic expectations for the people in college or even in the work force who want to leverage their current and past experiences to get a head in the job market. While I agree there’s a general “etiquette” when it comes to applying to jobs (ie. how your resume looks and tweaking your resume to fit applications), I’m definitely sure companies are using this to forgo actually looking at resumes and letting the AI choose the candidate. By all means, this is just fact and I’m not coming at this from an emotional perspective. However, I think the current job market is very much one where those who already have placement in their fields will be chosen; regardless of if they can do the job or not. The alternative is a combination of spray and pray and hoping that you might know someone who can refer you to a reputable company. Though, seeing as COVID created unforeseen barriers related to networking for those who were pursuing education at the time, or those entering the job market, it’s very much an oversaturated job market w/ high competition. Giving hunger games tbh.
Agree to the biases, there is so much regulation that is needed around AI. Where are the limitations? Uh, anywho thank you for your thorough comment. I appreciate minds like yours.
Love your content! I appreciate the hard truths and the tough love because you truly just want to equip jobseekers with the insights, tools and EQ to succeed in their careers.
Great content! Have you thought about doing AI tools (for non technical founders) reviews, or just showing their functions? A job is not the future. Learning how to use AI tools to build things from the knowledge and problems people saw or dealt with in these big companies and selling that business service is the future.

Main thing also, govy and companies still dont learn there lesson and hire a hyped resume thats vetted through AI vectors instead of taking time to go through resumes manually and pick the top 5% of those resumes and then if needed to weed out to shorter list of candidates then run through hiring team and AI systems. They are using AI first which is dumb because they hire the wrong candalidate that is not qualified and they overlooked great talent. They really are idiots. Hiring managers need to do better in this scouting part.

It's actually funny. HR was up so far the only department who seldomly got hit with "budget cuts" or better said cutting out people to save on money. Now they start to use AI to become themselves lazier, yet faster with their job... so... why should the CEO keep the HR department untouched by "budget cuts". Sorry to say, but congrats on being now down here with everyone else again. That's how tides can turn in a blink of an eye... I love karmic justice.😏🍷
As someone who works closely with HR, HR is not the final decision maker on whether or not a company utilizes AI in any department. HR has zero authority or power Tbh.
If you worked somewhere that you had to do a job where it was mundane and somehow learned how to make yourself more efficient, that’s something to track. “Enhanced our systems by automating XYZ from 3hours to 10 mins etc”

Herein lies my job-hunting journey. My "parent resume" got me a hit, and I had my virtual interview on November 6. However, after a week, I thoughtfully "tailored" my resume to three positions of interest with ChatGPT; all three emailed and wanted to talk within days. Of course, I wasn't foolish enough to copy and paste. During the four-week window: Week of November 18: One phone screen and I went to the next stage Week of November 25: Two phone screens and I went to the next stage for one of them Week of December 2: Two virtual interviews; I went to the next stage for one of them, and I am waiting to go to the next stage for the second (doubtful) Week of December 9: I had two final virtual interviews, both of which I'm eagerly awaiting the results. One of these final interviews was with the organization that initially contacted me on November 6. During my virtual interviews, two of them wanted folks to have skills in Excel. I strategically used the share screen to demonstrate my Excel skills with projects I have worked on. If folks are serious and strategic, things can happen.

Workers are an expense. That is number one. Companies want to maximize profit for their shareholders. They don't care and never cared about people.

I use AI to tailor my resume to each job I apply. How can I tell if my resume is the issue if it’s different for each position?

General comment or are you implying I'm HR?
But sidenote, I always felt HR would be one of the easiest to automate. Swap top level with an external law firm and bam….

How can you know what you accomplished when there are no metrics involved?
