Hi! I'm new to PoE universe and I was looking for a good WH build that actually works. I was having a pretty bad time going with WH. I was naive enought to believe GGG marketing of "play as you want and you'll be able to do it". Well, yeah, until I get to the first ascension trial and get decimated. All leveling guides are just grenades. I tried but I really hated grenade built. It makes fall asleep. Then I found your build. I transitioned to it around lv 32 and I was having a blast! It's not OP during leveling but it's not a trap build either. Now I got to lv 42 and shockburst round changed my game! I'm in love now! 😍 Step by step crossbow WH guides are basically non existent. Congrats and thanks a lot!
Just a heads-up, there's a support gem that increases exposure effect named Strip Away so you can replace the less duration gem with it in Stormcaller Arrow. Also penetration doesn't go negative and can only lower the resistance down to 0.
Good shouts on both. I will say, I've since switched over to crit using Choir of the Storm, as I discussed in the video, which means I no longer use exposure at all.
Great in depth video. I'm leveling toward a similar build right now and I'm a bit confused about why you wouldn't want to have lightning dmg on the crossbow though? My current crossbow has lightning damage and seems to be working well with galvanic shards.
For leveling, having flat lightning is totally fine. It's just that flat lightning on crossbows doesn't actually do that much as compared to the % physical increases you can get. Since galvanic and shockburst both convert the attack damage to lightning damage, it's much better to just stack as much physical damage as possible, and have that convert to lightning.
@@mastern56 Got it, we do have a bunch of lightning +% in the passive tree too, so I guess it's a bit of an empirical question what actually works best at each point with gear/passive tree state.
@@tomasszabo9426 Yeah this is where having PoB to be able to see the actual dps comparisons would come in handy. I will say it's very unlikely that you would beat a good pdps crossbow though- it's important to convert as much of the physical damage of the crossbow over into the element now, since conversion doesn't double dip like it does in poe1. I think if you could roll % increased lightning damage on crossbows as a local mod, it might make sense to go for that mod, but the only % increase you can get is physical, so it is what it is.
Reading the gem, I think that it should- if the lightning bolt from herald of thunder shocks the target it hits, it should be able to trigger coursing current. Let me know if it doesn't though- hard to test.
@@mastern56 Herald of Thunder is marked Payoff. Payoff skills are unable to inflict the ailment that they interact with. So, Herald of Thunder will never shock.
My gut feeling would be a 100 higher pdps crossbow would be better. As I say in the video, there's not that many supports that actually meaningfully increase our damage, so scaling your damage conversion would be a lot better. Hard to know without PoB though and what specific support gems you would socket.

I dont think coursing current does anything on herald of thunder.

what is more a damage increase, a weapon with 100 dps more or galvanic, shockburst and plasma with 5 sockets slot
