She was twelve when she was captured. The reason she wasn't killed alongside her family was because of her hair which was the color of corn silk. The Indians felt that she would bring good luck to their crops. As they were taking her away the last thing her father said to her was, "You see Mary? I told you your hair would bring you good luck." 🌽 🙄
Mary Jemison is a famous figure here in this part pf New York. She eventually married a Native American and refused to leave her Native American family and friends when she was offered an opportunity to return to White Society.
@@anthonytroisi6682 Ther same way with Quannah Parkers mother, she ran away many times trying to get back to the Comanche & when it all failed, and her baby daughter died, she willed herself to die of a broken heart. She was raised as a full fledged Comanche since a child.
Not acurate. The seneca did not live in wigwams. They were Iroquois, six nations. They lived in long houses..They didnt kill their captives..They made them members of the tribe..Many times to replace a loved one who died..They were treated as one of their own.
How do you know ? This is an eye witness account and all the Indians killed people but some were more peaceful. It was a common problem that young braves would kill people even against the advice of elders bringing trouble to the tribe.
