They didn't want people to be too empathetic of loki in Thor 1 and 2. Funny because people still were even without these scenes, which shows how well Tom played him with range regardless!
Yeah like we didn’t need these scenes back then if anything it just give us more reason to like him even more Like let be honest Loki is smart so for him doing things like that with no actually reason was so suspicious and felt wrong with how little we knew about him back then . I don’t know if it just me or every scene with Loki before he lost it and snap felt like he was throwing anxiety and panic under the mask of sarcastic and mischief and I think he talks as a way to ease his worries and anxious
"Now give us a kiss" I will never understand why they decided to completely demonise loki in the first movie. He is not just his revenge. He is also fun loving and a trickster.

Did you read the comics? I mean i don't so I don't know how is he in the comics, but I'm sure he was always like that, or we can hope he is 😅@@phoearwenien4355
Agree 100%. That scene fills gaps in his character arc. He even received his mother's blessing until Odin wakes up. Makes even more sense why he wanted to keep Thor banished to earth. Loki was CROWNED as temporary king and would go to any length to keep that power. We needed that scene in the final cut to understand how he seemed to change so suddenly toward Thor.
Consuming all Tom/Loki media as I’m going through the five stages of grief after the Loki Season 2 finale. I never believed Loki was a villain and have been waiting patiently for his redemption arc for over a decade. I’m sure I have seen these scenes before, years ago, but they hit hard now.
9:53 this look right here shows that Loki didn't actually believe he would be handed a throne after all his schemes. I think that he actually just wanted to lash out on Thor and humilate him enough to stain his right to throne, rather than take it from him. He wanted to prove himself, not by status, but by actually being more loved or important to the family. It was all about being loved, always has been. Throne was just an object he thought could help him achieve that sense of importance and love, his glorious purpose.
After season 2 loki finale, it just hits harder as he finally had that sense that he belongs somewhere, that there r people who he could call his friends (true freinds). But he had to be alone to ensure their safety and to ensure that they live their lives😢. When he least wanted the throne, he had to take that burden(his glorious purpose)
I’ve always seen it as he knew Thor would not be ready for the throne yet, and did what he had to in order to protect his realm. Thor would have brought far worse than just war with a dying world if he had become king while still acting like he did at the beginning of the movie.
6:33 I would love to see them like this. I know it'll never happen, which is sad, but it's sweet to see. I wish they kept these scenes in so we could have seen that Loki never meant to be a bad guy, he kinda lost it after being told he was born from a Frost Giant. That's why we love Loki, because we can see his vulnerability and pain afterwards, compared to before he found out.
Honeslty the scene where he is given the scepter should have been shortened and kept in. In the movie it seems like he took the power as soon and odin fell into the sleep, and that the asgardians refuse him as their king. Here it shows that he is next in line and has the queen backing him. Aaah
Are the moviemakers stupid or something? The scene that proceeds Thor's coronation, and the ascension of Loki to the throne are scenes where we see the pain and confusion. The mischief lining his very being. The elation and the sense of impossible weight upon his mental health. He is a person suffering and failing to his inner demons. They should have kept these two atleast. And the one scene where Loki, attempts to mask his blatant manipulation of Thor as consolation. I'm not condoning his actions, he made irreparable mistakes on the crux of his collapsing stability. But damn it if it doesn't break my heart.
100% agree, but that was unfortunately the exact problem. Test audiences sympathised with Loki too much and Thor didn't end up looking so good (because he isn't). So they cut out most of the Loki stuff that wouldn't disrupt the plot too much.
Why were these scenes deleted? They are rrally important to show Loki's vulnerable side, this is Loki without the layers he wears to protect his vulnerability and hide his true feelings. That's a shame they've been deleted.
Apparently all that mattered to them was to show the violence he caused. His character development felt so… so botched, but that was only bc the editors destroyed the movie by cutting out good scenes.
Those scenes probably made Loki too likable and might have over shadow Thor in test screenings (considering Hemsworth had those horrible bleach eyebrows, and Loki looked like Disney Prince on that Horse). They knew Loki was going to be the villain in the Avengers. So any scene that showed Loki as vulnerable, sweet and caring they probably got rid of.
It is just a matter of "time" because if they kept just half of these scenes, the film would be more than 2h and the show runners were like : "More than 2h make a film not enjoyable and people get bored" I think they didn't understand what make The Lord of the Ring a success and what gave it so much love
that second scene really sold loki and thor's relationship a lot more. in these films i always had a hard time believing (until ragnarok) that thor would really want loki back
Late to the game, but for those asking why these scenes were taken out, it's because the movie wouldn't have been about Thor. Loki's character and Tom's performance are too compelling, the family relationship too intriguing. People would have been disappointed by the central plot when there was an obviously more interesting story back on Asgard, the creators would've had to call the movie "Thor and Loki." Which, to be clear, I am 100% in favor of.
4:02 Jesus fuck, I ain't no gay but this shot right here would make me contemplate it. Young cheerful Loki had to be more wanted than Thor in Asgard, I cannot believe otherwise.
These scenes make Avengers Loki look even more out of place. He was way too evil in that movie. I guess he was apparently under the influence of the "mind stone" but still. I prefer Thor's Loki and the one from the series.
The book about the MCU universe confirms as much when describing the Scepter and Tesseract. It indeed negatively influenced both the Avengers (their confrontantion on Helicarrier) and Loki, who was both tortured by Thanos and influenced by the stone. His negative feelings were boosted.
1:23 “No, stop, I know that look, stop right there.” He genuinely sounds concerned and worried about what his brother is going to do…would have loved to see this side of Loki. 2:58 Ok- stop. Don’t break me with how happy Loki looks to be wanted for something as big as this by his brother. Don’t break my heart. Ow. Ow. OWWWWW. Too late.

Maybe it's because Loki is one of my favoeite characters in the MCU, but i think they should have kept this scenes in the movie since it explores better Loki's other side of his personality and development in the story. And, pardon me if i'm oversteping, they could have extended the scene were Loki meets Laufey and explore the terms of the deal. Maybe Laufey, while trying to kill Loki with the jotunn touch (freezes so much that burns), would discover Loki (who would revert to his true frost giant form) is the son he abandoned to die. The rest (Laufey being betrayed and killes by Loki on Asgard) remains the same.

I understand why they cut these scenes. I guess the shift from loving brother to villain would have been way too fast. However, at the same time ... because they didn't show us this other side of him, Loki became a bit ... boring ... in this movie. Or should I say one-dimensional? It was in later movies that they made him entertaining. ❤ Loki
There is no deleted scene of him in Avengers 2
Thor è solo un bambino viziato 😢
We were robbed!!
They didn’t show it in the movie but why I felt Loki loved Thor... & reason of his little evilness is he never get the love back from Thor....
All this food so innocent! Dit is Thor ook niet! Dit is een imposter!
Hello, I'm just getting into Marvel fandom and I would like to know what the name of the movie is so I can watch it, please ❤ Pst: I still haven't mastered English completely. If there are any grammatical errors, blame the translator hahaha
Hi welcome to the fandom! These scenes are from the movies: Thor, Thor the Dark World, Thor Ragnarok, & Avengers Assemble. Enjoy!
