During an interview with the BBC aired on 16 February, Egyptian-American comedian Bassem Youssef criticised the West’s support for Israel and emphasised that as an American citizen he wants US President Joe Biden to lose the 2024 presidential election over his pro-Israel policies and refusal to end the war on Gaza.

It's not logic to called a group that killed 1000 innocent people a terrorist but another group that killed 25k innocent civilian is call defending.
They drop missile and drone strike on civilian when they know Hamas is underground. What effect does a drone strike will make to them when they underground? They allied with a country that have been through multiple war, tons of experience and some of them are huge one and they telling us they can't even send a special team to save the hostages??? WW1 WW2, Vietnam War, IRAQ war, Libya, Somalia, Afghanistan. Assassinated, Osama Bin Laden, doesn't involve destroying the entire country or state and killing innocent civilian by thousands of causalities.
Trump will be even worse. You may not like Biden, but not voting for him punishes, not just Americans, but Palestinians even more. But you have a choice to choose the lesser of two evils. You have to acknowledge that the world rarely deals with fair choices. To refuse to vote is a privileged choice, even if voting means supporting a candidate that is enabling horrific suffering. That’s what voting in America has always been, but we still have a duty to choose great suffering over greater suffering, don’t we?
It’s a lose lose situation whoever gets in , no US President has ever truly supported the Palestinian people at all.

No US president really can, and technically shouldn’t. The UN recognizes Israel as a sovereign nation. Since the PA and Hamas are labeled as terrorist organizations, how could a US president support those governments. The Palestinian people have always been recognized, but the wrongs that have been done to the people by Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, and their own governments are why the people are suffering today.

Israel is not part of the ICC, so no international law. Humanity? Syria kills and exiles millions and the UN doesn’t actually do anything, they force others to take refugees. Lebanon has a de facto apartheid against Palestinians that the UN has declared, yet doesn’t do anything.
Genocide, that’s debatable. The UN failed to press charges and cleared Israel of genocide so far. And really Syria has killed more Palestinians than Israel and the UN didn’t do anything about it.
I think there’s to much emotion with this conflict. I’m not so sure I understand why, I mean I get it that it’s 35,000 dead civilians. But Ethiopia civil war that just ended is at almost 400,000 civilians and there was no demonstrations and protests and calls of genocide. That Ethiopian war had land disputes from “stolen land”, terrorist freedom fighters, genocide, forced starvation…..

You guys are blind. A ceasefire only works between rational parties. There was a ceasefire on October 6 just like there was one in 2014. Hamas doesn't honour ceasefires, they use them as opportunities to regroup before beginning the cycle of violence again. The US doesn’t control Israeli policy, in fact Netanyahu has spited Biden several times through this war. If the US did vote for a ceasefire, Israel still would not end the war because Likud knows that the the next election is the Republican’s to win, and in has a much friendlier face to their goals with Trump.

If you're really tired of the predictable vote shaming, work to get ranked choice voting (RCV) implemented in your state. You could vote for your actual preferred candidate(s) and still rank a sane candidate from a major party as a "safety vote" to block crazies like Trump. Or even send a message by ranking several candidates except for the candidates they try to shove down our throats (i.e. let your partyleadsership know that their candidate isn't even worthy of your 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th vote choice). The great part is we already have RCV in Alaska and Maine, with a chance to get it in Nevada, and can continue to make gains state-by-state.
Then you'd have a lesser of 3 evils.

Precisely. This seems to be what's missing in the conversations personally criticizing President Biden. This isn't Biden administration policy. This is US foreign policy regarding Israel that would be the same regardless of president. And if anything, it could be worse with someone else because the negotiations that are ongoing for a ceasefire and release of hostages wouldn't happen under another Trump administration. In fact he would give Israel even more resources to do what they're doing to Gaza and worse. The only viable chance for a ceasefire is with President Biden.

I feel a similar.way in the UK with the Labour party. People try and tell me that not voting or voting for the Greens will hand the Tory party the election. I don't care, I'll manage or I'll move abroad if it gets that bad. I can't vote for a party who's leader is blind to the atrocities in occupied Gaza, The West Bank and East Jerusalem.
You can feel the fury, the anger all rightly pointed at the person that could stop this with one call. It is admirable that Bassem is true to himself and sticks to his conviction.
Being intoxicated with your win righteousness and promoting actively trying to increase the chances that a more unhinged president who is more pro Israel take slower is not logical.
