I am really a huge fan of them both but there's just something about the 1st gen V45/V65 bikes! I do agree that the engine looks "nicer/prettier" in the 3rd gen but I would prefer the 1st gen! Thanks for sharing buddy - I can't wait to go riding as well once the weather warms up!
Definitely completely different animals! 3rd gen are comfortable all day cruisers. I’m not sure I’d want to spend too many hours on the V65 Magnas……I will test that theory when I get the 83 running.
@@mcycleshawn My 83 V65 was more comfortable than my 96 is. The 83 V65 was a dream bike with horses to make it fly. My 96 does real well but it just isn't as comfortable to ride. Only bike I like as much is an 87 ZL 1000 Kawasaki that I had. Two monster power cruisers. My 96 only has 9095 miles on it. I'll be keeping her for a very long time.
I clicked on this video because it said exhaust comparison. Its a twelve minute video. I just sat through ten minutes of a dude talking about shit before he even started a bike. Wtf?

I love them both also! I do prefer them stock buuuuut even the “drag bike” 3rd Gen has grown on me after a couple rides!!
1st gen looks like a chopper and goes like a rocket. U got both worlds baby what more could you want

I'd be happy with a 1st gen-only gen- 1983 V65 Magna. But my 96 Magna is a sweeet bike too, just doesn't have the beast power of the V65.

All the mods on classics like this look really bad... You should never mod them. Also the sell price goes down hard.
I agree with you for myself. I like my bikes to be as original as possible
