Back in 1970 I went to Abercrombie and Finch in NYC to pick up my new S&W mod. 60 for $90. It was my new off duty gun. As I was leaving the gun department there was a table set up with two dozen boxes of that same Savage Anshutz .22 rifle for $110. that your shooting today, new in the box. I must have fondled that rifle for over an hour trying to figure out how I could swing buying it and getting it into our apartment on a patrolman salary of $123. To this day I regret not buying that rifle. And after watching you shoot it today I was right, I should have bought it!!
These are both pleasant and very instructive videos - thank you for all the tremendous amount of work you put into your videos and a very Happy New Year from France! :)
I have several German training rifles similar to the Savage Anschutz you are shooting there. Just a pleasure to shoot. An old Walther KKJ from the 60's and an Anschutz youth model that I plan to pass down to one of my boys. The CZ 457 trainer is on par with any of them in my opinion. for the money it is probably the best value going right now . A young fella starting out with a family, bills etcetera would do well to get one and have something to pass down. Keep on puttin lead down range sir. Would love to hear you talk about the scope and mounts a bit. Thanks for the content.!!
I became addicted to Anschutz rifles 40 years ago when I paid 500 bucks for a beautiful 54M sporter. It is a joy to look at and a joy to shoot. The trigger is unbelievable and it makes me sad to think that I will have to part ways with it someday.
Man I absolutely love your videos. I've always shot .22's but never for anything other than plinking or squirrel hunting. With ammo being so hard to find for center fire rifles and with me having a surplus of .22 ammo maybe it's time to make a switch for a while. Thanks brother for your work. Much enjoyed, much appreciated. Be blessed
CZ 452 was made for many years . Rifles made in year before 1960 had accuracy built in. Later it was luck of the draw . Some shot good and some not so good. I did change barrel on CZ 455(Varmint). Old varmint barrel had 5 round spread 27mm @ 50 m. With new barrel it is around 12 mm. I also downloaded target you use.Next time I will try it.
I'd have to choose the Savage Anschutz because of the beauty and quality. I used to own one myself but, like a dummy, sold it. :-( Enjoyed seeing your Anschutz in action; it brought back fond memories, thanks.
Are you shooting the American Rimfire Association course at 50/100 yds ? I am old and busted up GI and want to get back into shooting. The trouble I am having is finding a benchrest course of fire. Any information would be of great help.
Great shooting with the Anni on the last target. Must congratulate you on your smallbore discipline breathing and follow through. Have a 1986 Anni which shoots the same. Not sure how many rounds have been through but bolt closure like yours still tight indicating great headspace. Nice one .
I've used SK Rifle Match for years, and have won many NRA prone matches with it. In both my 52D and my KK200, it shoots .22-.25 caliber groups at 50 yds. My only caution is it tends to open up to about 1/3" at 100 yards.
OK OK OK SO IM LOVING THE GROOPINGS BUUT!! You gotta adjusts the scope elevation and windage to the round your shooting outher rounds are gonna shoot different your rifle is on not one but two stabilizing devices so breathing isn't going to be nearly as key when it comes to the barrel moving yanking the trigger will "press not pull" KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
I was just noting, on the Oryx, that your index finger sometimes *just* moved the bolt handle before the shot went off...maybe, just maybe, a bit of pull in your trigger action, but, could also make some small change in the chambering of the round, as the bolt handle moved "up" about 3-4 mm...
Sadly I Am taking my model 54M sporter to market. I love the fact That The receiver is drilled and tapped and Warne makes rings and bases for my leupold scope.
The Savage Anschutz 54 should always be the winner if the ammo it likes is used. I cringed when I bought a 10 rd. Mag from Anschutz for an Ans. 64MPR for $82 and no one including EBAY & Amazon could match it. 🙄 Why don’t you occasionally make some adjustments with the scope ? I have never seen you make any adjustments on the scopes in any of your videos😉 FYI some older Savage/Anschutz. 22’s had engraved on the barrels “Eley Ammunition only.” I saw that on the barreI too. have used about every hi-end .22 target ammo and the best has been ELEY MATCH and so far it is tied with SK LONG RANGE at 200yd. Bench Rest F-Class. That SK LONG Range works well in my CZ455 too and much cheaper than Eley Match.
Great shooting with my favorite calibre (22LR). I need to get where I can shoot my favorite 22LR bolt rifles. I can only shoot at a indoor range for the time being (25yds). I have a CZ455 in a plastic stock and a 3-9X40 Nikon scope, CZ452 Ultra Lux with a standard stock and a 6-36X50 scope and a Brno model 2 with a 4-24X40 scope. I'm curious to see which shoots the best then the others will be sold if not up to my HIGH STANDARDS.🤔😉😁😎 THEN I WILL HAVE TO CHECK OUT MY 22LR PISTOLS. 😮😁😎😢
Hello, great videos. You can add a little more consistency to your shooting by not picking up your head as you cycle the bolt. Takes some discipline. I bet you could have all five pretty much in same hole with that older savage rifle.
Savage refuses to build accuracy onto their 22 LR rimfire. Their center fires are amazingly accurate. I have an mk2 that ant hit a barn at 50. My stock Ruger 10/22 sucks also. Now.....the CZ 457 is amazing shooting dimes at 50. Tagging 3 inch steel at 180 yards amazing CZ 22 LR.
First, no such thing as cold shots. Those are clean bore shots. It’s best to leave a rimfire bore dirty. This way your first shot is always dead on. Second..... you need a scope with a parallax adjustment. Even that scope is probably parallax free at somewhere around 125 yards. Not 100. That said, that second group was a good one. Get a better scope. Leupold or nothing for me.
Day, I am going to hit the sub and the bell and keep liking your videos. I would like to tell you what I like about RUclips. I like content - that is the most important thing to give your viewers, and most importantly potential viewers. 18 minutes of watching someone shoot a rifle and load magazines in a 28 minute video is weak on content and boring to watch. Think of it as listening to a radio program and most of it is dead air with no one talking - it is the same thing. And please don't post you taking things out of a box - what was in the box OK, watching the mess unfolding around the Christmas tree we have all seen. As far as this man is concern; I go to RUclips for content. I don't go there to read content, hear music, watch intros and exits or any form on videography; I get that on the TV and want it all out of my life. Content is King - I would rather hear you just tell me your story. I would hear about your bald head in two seconds than watch 18 minutes of you over a rifle and hearing only BANGS...... Some food for though my friend. God Bless and I hope you do well in your RUclips endevor. 7.66K subs now and I see 766K in your future - I can't wait to see how high you go!

The rifle was made in Germany by Anschutz and to get them into america the rifle needed a component from Savage which was the trigger. The quality is german the name is american and that rifle will have Made in Germany. Hope that answers your query.

Nice work. I especially like the Anschutz 54. Many thanks for a fun and therapeutic video! Loved all of it. Thank you. 😊
Thank you so much Ron
I was thrilled to see you shooting that Savage-Anchutz 54 sporter. What a beautiful rifle! It shoots lights out too!
Nice to see an old girl keep up with the hi faluting new ones!
Nice job!
These are both pleasant and very instructive videos - thank you for all the tremendous amount of work you put into your videos and a very Happy New Year from France! :)
This is quickly becoming my favorite channel. Love the content. Don't change a thing you are doing.
That Anschutz is a beautiful rifle.
That Anshutz is a Beautiful piece!
I have had two of those and loved them both

The Savage Anshutz was really giving the best performance. in my opinion

Never turn away. Great vid Thanks
I like the low key style of your videos
Nice shooting. Just purchased an Oryx for a 3006 I built that is already sub MOA so interesting to see what it does in the Oryx.
Grandad 06 sweet what are the components for your build I am very interested.
I was think on getting a oryx chassis for my .308 110 tactical model, also great video.
I'd have to choose the Savage Anschutz because of the beauty and quality.
I used to own one myself but, like a dummy, sold it. :-(
Enjoyed seeing your Anschutz in action; it brought back fond memories, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed -- that's awesome.
I like your Savage-Anchutz 54 sporter. I have one that I bought in 1969. It's the most accurate .22 I've ever shot and I've shot many.
That Bolt appears Sweet I just put on Layaway on a Axis precision ll .223 Cant wait.🇺🇸
Holly crap that bumble bee! What about a review on the classic Ruger 10/22?

I've got newer arms, but I really get a kick out of the "OL SCHOOL" stuff, guess you can I'm tell not a "youngun"myself, lol. Thx for the vid.
I just bought an oryx for my 10/22 target. Hoping for good things.

It’s all about the groups, not the bullseye!😊
I would like to get one of those Anshutz- Savage rifles

When the flies start disappearing from your barn, you know that DayAtTheRange is near...
Holy Hannah! Great love for both!

@@Dayattherange Thanks........
Love that Model 54.
will this chassis work on a savage model 93 22 mag
Sadly I Am taking my model 54M sporter to market. I love the fact That The receiver is drilled and tapped and Warne makes rings and bases for my leupold scope.
Which front rest are you using in this video? Are you still using it, or did you change to something else?
That is a Caldwell BR My Son in Law's front rest. I now have a Ransom Rest.
That SA looks like my JW15! I wonder if those mags would work. BTW, the JW15 is a copy of the CZ BRNO!
It is actually patterned after the Savage Magazines has the lips in the back and the JW15 is smooth in the back and locks in the front.
@@Dayattherange thanks for the info. I love watching your videos! Keep up the great content!
Great to see dude shooting rimfire. They shoot better with dirty bore. Nice shooting.

If you are getting MOA with any of your rights, your batting 500. Do you hunt small game? I'd use it for squirrel any day of the week.

I Have SCORES Of 22 Rifles And The Model 54 Sporter Is The Most Accurate I Have Ever Owned. I Am Especially Fond Of The 54M In 22 Magnum.
I'm looking at the oryx for my savage axis 308....
Can you strike a match 50 yards out...
Good video ... Always A joy .... bang ....bang
2 dreams realized while watching this video! 1 - own this chassis! 2 - to get photo bombed by such a pleasant bumble bee :)
thank you, new sub here, i enjoyed this video.
Anschutz all day!
Great video

So if you leave the bore dirty and still have the fliers on first bore shot? LOL
Annie.!!
The Anshutz sure is prettier.
So you shot an extra group because you wanted the Anschutz to win, and it still lost to the Savage. Nya-nya.
Lol. They're both Savage.

all anschutz magazines fit all anschutz rifles
Will mags. for Anschutz MPR 64 fit the 1710D HB or the newer 1761 ? ps they look completely different 🤭
i could never understand why anschutz let savage put their name on their rifles i suppose it was for the money like everyone else does but it makes me cringe a little when you call it a savage anschutz and yes thats what it says on the barrel but a savage will never be a anschutz

It drives me nuts that you talk during the shot. Can't be helping.
