Hi Robert, thank you very much for yet another very informative video. Also, thank you for being such a nice and helpful reefer that always brings a friendly and positive vibe to the content. Cheers
It CAN be easy to grow however many people have problems. I solved mine by getting a stronger light (Kessil 380 in my case) and the careful addition of iron and iodine.
@@BulkReefSupply - Can you provide some insight on placing flow pumps on the back wall of the tank? I have a 4ft tank and would love to place my pumps (gyres) on the back wall for aesthetic reasons, but it seems like there would be dead spots on the outer edges of the tank plus blown sand from the front of the tank, leaving bare spots. Thoughts???
Good video Robert, was wondering if it’s a good idea (or not) to run two tanks off one refug. I have a 90 and starting a 2nd (40 gal )reef tank and a 40 gal long that I plan to set up a refug. A refug is something I’ve never had so this is new to me. Don’t know if one refug can handle two tanks. Thanks to all that reply. 😎
3 species of macro algae randomly appeared in my tank one looks like enteromorpha intestinalis the other looks like freshwater black beard algae but green and the other looks like a brown coral
I prefer Ulva over chaeto any day. It's easier to grow, imo, uptakes nutrients extremely fast, and most importantly... It doesn't make a huge mess like Chaeto does. When I would harvest the chaeto (trim it back) little bits of it get EVERYWHERE. Ulva, ime, is not only the better choice for rapid nutrient control, but the maintenance is significantly easier. If I were to ever keep chaeto again I would confine it to a reactor with some sort of sponge post-filter or have the effluent go through a filter sock to prevent "bits" from getting everywhere. That stuff will clog up equipment and all of those little bits die off and need to be removed so they don't break down, optimally. Gracilaria is cool looking, but a slow-medium uptaker. There's a site somewhere that tells you how effective at nutrient removal each one is.
Oui, mais prend en considération que tous les copepods et autres crustacés qui vivent dans les algues seront tués après avoir passé par le skimmer. Si tu veux qu’ils passent dans le tank principal tu dois le mettre avant
A word of caution. people tend to only sell small frags of dragons breath (Halymenia) for high prices. This tells me its difficult to grow and/or grows slow. Twice now I have failed at establishing it. The first time it melted in the mail and the second time isolated it in a fry box and just a few amphipods still managed to get to it and devoured it over night. Amphipods love this stuff, so if you have them, don't even bother with small frags.
If I have a lot of detritus in my refugium (or wherever) but my my phosphates and nitrates are near zero, why do I care about removing it? So many people see an ugly mess somewhere and they need to remove it, but I just don't really see the point if everything in the tank is going well- it's just a destabilization event
I am using the AI light and its great but ,Can anyone help with a question off topic please , How much flow is required inside the refuig ? The last thing i needed was another pump to plug in , so i just created a gravity feed air line tube from the top main tank , but it looks like not enough flow , someone told me its supposed to go slow , but how much is really required ? Thanks for any help
Why does ChaetoGro not contain Iodine? Is it not needed? Also the instructions on the bottle are horrible. They don't give you any idea as to what ratio to add ChaetoGro when using with NeoNitro and NeoPhos in a ULNS. The instructions go by tank size instead of bio load, which isn't very useful.

Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! We truly appreciate your support and positive vibes!

Thank you! Thanks for watching!

R u dosing iron to the refugium?
Good content robert, just starting a refugium now with the tunze light wand
Awesome! Let us know if you need anything!
Marine macro algae do you need have acclimate this plant ??
You do not need to acclimate.
@@BulkReefSupply Thank you for your help
Question for you, I have a canister filter been runing long time, and now. Am setting up a sump, do i need to cycle it. ?
Can I use Peroxide to remove green algae from my Macro-Algae?
Will chateo-grow also help to grow dragons breath macro algae?
Can you dip chaeto in RODI water to help get rid of pests?
I don't believe this is recommended for Chaeto algae.
Maybe try rubbing it in saltwater to remove anything stuck on there like worms
Hey! i want the shirt ur wearing ... is it on marinedepot?

Hey guys. When I grow my chaeto in my refugium, I don't know when it is the right time to harvest some out, and how much do I take out?
How long should i let my light run on my refugium With chaeto?
I'd do 24/7/365!
can we keep sargassum?
It is certainly possible to keep sargassum, but make sure you source it reliably. Taking it from the wild would most likely contain hitchhikers.
Your link to the refugium product list is dead.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The links should now be updated.
Can I use planted tank light to grow cheoto?
That’s what I plan on doing.
dose GFO & carbon reactor dose same thing?
Great video! Very informative, and I have to get one of those shirts! LOL
Thanks for commenting and watching!

Excelent video, What size should a macroalgal refugium have for a 100-gallon aquarium?
Big. 10 gallon aquarium at the very least, probably 20 would be ok. The bigger the better. And a big bright light.

Hey man which fertilizer can you recommend for ulva culture ?
Wow! This was really helpful and informative! Thank you so much
Une question svp, le refuge peut-il être avant l'ecumeur svp ???

Great video? Where'd you get the shirt? I want one!
Temperature? The most critical factor. Not mentioned.
Im growing @ 28-30 C. Cooling is a waste of nrg.
Cheato's grow at what temp?
78-80F
@@BulkReefSupply thats perfect! Thx for replying. My cheato's are coming tomorrow.
Can you grow macro algae in a freshwater tank?
No they need saltwater, freshwater already has a big selection of generally better looking plants anyway

How do you know you have many detritus in the system?
DUDE!! Where'd ya get that shirt !?? That's great !
Do you sell macro algae to India
Hi there! Thanks for asking. As of now, we're only able to sell live goods within the United States.

As far as I'm concerned, your fuge doesn't need any flow. As long as water's getting in and flowing out...you're good.

Je suis d'accord avec toi mais il faut réguler la croissance des algues dans un aquarium et ça c'est pas simple du tout !!! 🤔🤔🤔
Algae Barn has almost nothing in stock.
Algae Barn is currently catching up on some high demand and they should have some more inventory available soon!
Rip marine Depot
Sounds fishy !! Lol🤙
do you even lift bro? haha jk. great video I will be adding some chaeto on my new build.
Sorry. Thought this was a video about how to grow chips.
I hate growing the red one it keeps dying, they always turn white why is that
Maybe lack of iron add iron
