    Hmmmm. Used an expensive grow lights on my fuge, then it broke and I got a much cheaper led flood light and I could not keep up from harvesting chaeto and dumping it in the garden. Chaeto does not know the amount of money you've spent on a light. Nutrients are way more important. People on forums have chaeto dying because they have a massive imbalance in new tanks or their light cycles are wrong.

    I’m very interested in setting up a macro algae aquarium to raise Pseudomugil cyanodorsalis. I’ve never done a salt water tank before, but am pretty good at growing plants with CO2, fertilizers and lots of light. I’m glad I found your channel!

    Hi, I've heard of Tangs specifically being affected when dosing Seachems flourish iron. Do you have any yellow/scpas tangs in your systems that you dose the powdered iron to

    • @EverydayAquarist
      @EverydayAquarist 3 года назад +1

      Hello no I don't because they eat the algae which is counter to what I want, however I do keep ctenocheatus tangs and they are perfectly healthy after 2 years. I didnt know zebra tangs were affected by iron, I will look into this.

    Really good video as I'm.struggling to keep my chaeto alive, tested my tank and I have nitrate at 12 and phosphate at 0.02. I have a kessil h80 light which is about 10" above the chaeto in my sump. I have the h80 light come.on from 8:30pm - 8:30am on the grow setting at 100%. I also have miricle mud in the same section of the sump. Am.i having the h80 light on long enough and as i have no corals currently just fish should i be feeding the chaeto anything else. Hope you can help me please as really struggling with what I'm doing wrong

      Could be micronutrients, try dosing an all in one plant Fertiliser, lack of iron could be the problem. Everything else sounds fine

    I think I added my macro algae too soon in my refugee gym on a new tank that was only up for like six weeks. It is not growing. Would anyone suggest I remove the chaeto, Waitights for levels to build up, and then add it again? chaeto is dying in the refuge and I have green hair algae in the main tank.

    I’ve got the tunze macro reactor and it’s growing hair algae all over the cheato , reason I bought the reactor as this was happening when I had the cheato plonked in the sump but now happening in the reactor 🤔😢

    Great video, I have been using chaeto on a new tank setup and it sucked up all the nitrate and starting to go white, I have since added miricle grow to my sump. Will the trace elements from this feed it or should I also dose chaeto grow? Advice welcomed. Keep up the videos!!

      Miracle grow, as in what you put on your tomatoes? I guess you need to see whats in it but Fertiliser is Fertiliser. Many of those ferts are just npk so may not provide trace elements as well but you will need to check the ingredients

    If I have a lot of detritus in my refugium (or wherever) but my my phosphates and nitrates are near zero, why do I care about removing it? So many people see an ugly mess somewhere and they need to remove it, but I just don't really see the point if everything in the tank is going well- it's just a destabilization event

    • @EverydayAquarist
      @EverydayAquarist 2 года назад

      The detritus forms an ecosystem in itself which helps system stability. Removing all dirt etc is a mistake
