    I'm new to Linux. Have being using Zorin lite in my old laptop for 3 months now.
    I don't know why I choose Zorin over Mint or MX, I just liked the looks and the vibes.
    I'm very happy with it, and I'm glad I left MS Windows 🎉

    I've been using Zorin OS for over 3 years now. Never looked back. It does everything Windows does just faster and smoother with zero crashes. Features are way beyond any Windows version ever made too. Switched from AutoCAD, Solidworks, Office and Illustrator to FreeCAD, Open Office and Inkscape and besides the normal learning curve when beginning any new software, I felt everything was more than enough for a SME Engineering Workshop and Offset Printing House to be viable for commercial purposes with the advantages of being license free.

    I'm pretty new to Linux. Tried several distros but I'm confused. Your Linux Cheatsheet has everything I need to jumpstart my Linux education. Thank you and keep up the good work.
    As of now, after several distro-hopping, I wanna stick myself with Zorin for a while to re-educate myself. After this, I shall explore Arch and Gentoo

    gnome 43??? a 2 years out of date version seriously? did anyone tell the Zorin team that we are up to gnome 47 now? nice looking polished distro but really they need to get more up to date as newer versions of software have many improvements.

    • @mjs28s
      @mjs28s Месяц назад

      Seriously?
      An OS is developed in weeks?
      Gnome 47 was "unveiled" September 18, 2024.
      As an FYI Gnome 43.9, NOT Gnome 43 when initially released that you are cherry picking, like most any software release comes with bugs and leads to multiple patches. Gnome 43.9 was released late summer 2023, close to a year after the initial Gnome 43 release.
      Ever consider that a developer like Zorin would prefer to have some time and miles on the environment that they plan on building on?
      So you want Zorin to have had their OS coded in parallel with development of the underlying gnome code base that is not tested and we also aren't even one month into Gnome 47's release?
      Oy.

      Isn’t it great how Linux distros can give new life to old hardware?

  • @timnowak8573
    @timnowak8573 Месяц назад +3

    Personally, for people who have older hardware I suggest Linux Lite, Peppermint OS-Classic, Linux Mint XFCE, and with newer hardware Linux Mint Cinnamon, Zorin OS. There are also a lot of other distributions that are underrated, and worth attention. For example Pardus Os, SparkyLinux, Siduction Linux, Openmandriva etc.These distributions are friendly, and quite easy to use.

    i have been a windows user since 1.0 and now in my old age i am seeing the slow disintegration of what was a good OS into just a platform for MS to try to leverage money out of the users aka office 365 and many other what are now being called "apps" not programs anymore.
    time to learn how to use Linux instead esp Zorin as my first delve into the Linux OS
    struggling to understand the terminal and how to install the programs and apps needed, i have to keep looking up the commands as they are not easily lodged in my failing memory
    i am using Zorin as a duel boot on a gaming laptop but not on my main PC just yet until i figure out how to ensure i dont loose my 30 years of data on the main pc

    Tried top list distros and stuck with Zorin since a few months ago as it gets the job done. Last one I used was Pop'OS and I was quite happy with it for a while, but it crashed (Ok, I crashed it...😅, that's how we learn anyways, right?).

    It's good and not only for beginners, recently go new laptop, HP Victus 15 and installed zori 17.2. had one problem. Screen brightness adjustment did not work. Also tested it on Ubuntu, Fedora, Suse tumbleweed, Pop os, Nabora all same problem. On Ubuntu also got totally dark 😂. Work around was install extension to overide original sliders. Will daily drive zorin and see how it goes. P.s nividia works, just ppl don't forget install nividia zorin version

    Something that a lot of linux advocates really don't understand is that the barrier of entry isn't strictly aesthetic. It's not a problem of "people don't want to use linux because it doesn't LOOK like Windows".
    The problem is that linux desktops lack a level of polish, predictability, reliability and completeness that Windows and MacOS users enjoy.
    Linux Desktop is design by a volunteer committee. Considering the handicap of volunteer dependence and decentralized design, it's very good. But it's not as good as a commercial product with central design tenants.
