At 18:51 that tree topples backwards on the skid-steer with some force actually dragging the skid-steer momentarily backwards! It's then wedged in the side of the lifting gear but Andrew gets out, cuts the top off the tree & then, when he cuts it again, at 19:14 the weight of the root-ball levers everything out of the lifting gear. You've got to love the way Andrew sorta looks to camera as if to say 'Yeah, I planned that' - he's what we in the UK call 'jammy'; meaning luck often favours him in an almost comical way.
I don't think the tree caused the skid steer to go backward (If anything a tree balenced in the bucket, then toppling backward would push forward) I think what we're seeing there is Andrew notices that the tree had run into the overhanging tree, and he put it into reversr to keep it pushing the tree over .. a little too late.
Great video, Andrew! Although a lot of it was taking down trees, there was a nice variety of work that you showed us. I watched the entire video through and enjoyed it all. Thank you!

Been watching Andrew for years now. Love that he does his own dirty work. Love that he fixes stuff. Love that he builds for an eternity. Owns up to and fixes mistakes. Calls thing like he sees them and explains why. And he's a dog person. I mean seriously - what's not to like. :-)
should always ask the tree guy (or anyone else picking things up for free) if he has anything to trade...you might be surprised sometimes people have really good stuff that they dont see any value in and are super willing to trade to someone who was giving them something
Andrew your so funny and you don't even know it. When you and the Mrs were driving up the load of wood on the new dump machine and she got close to that tree, the look on your face when you turned back had me howling in my chair. My wife thinks I'm nuts sitting here laughing away. Thought I would let ya know and thank you for the good laugh!!!!
It looked like Andrew was doing things to work on skills for the next N.E.L. Championship when he stuffed tried to stuff that tarp into the trashcan with the little excavator.
Andrew buddy, as a subscriber I would really love for you to do a control burn or the entire property it would clear the deadfall’s and leaf litter adding minerals back to the soil as well as be great viewing content
My dogs love the antlers too. As usual hit the like button before I've seen 10 minutes of the video cuz I know it's outstanding as usual. Love your stuff Andrew!
Great job on picking up that trash. I hope more people follow your example. About the 3 point hitch on the tractor: It looks like you can extend the lifting arms by rotating the part with the handle on the bottom of them. If the tractor raises implements way higher than you need, this may be your solution. EDIT I see that handle is only on one side, so it's the tilt adjustment. The other lifting arm also might be adjustable though, but it looks like you may need to take that one off of the lower arm to adjust it. You should also be able to replace/modify the actual lifters, the rotating parts. If you make them longer, you get more travel on the 3 point hitch, but you obviously lose strength and lifting capacity. You could also move the attachment points on the lower arms closer to the tractor. The closer they are, the more it'll lift/lower, but again that'll reduce the lifting capacity.
Trees don't tend to like it. Of course it depends on the type of soil and the species of the tree. But in general, if you put more soil around the base of a tree, it reduces the amount of oxygen the roots can access and makes the tree more susceptible to disease and insects.
I'd love to see you use a hammermill or shredder to pulverize all that wood into small bits that will quickly compost down feeding your woodland. It would be less work and energy costs. Love your channel!
Hey Andrew buddy, you need a front counterweight on that 4X4 tractor...even build a a box of some kind filled with stone and or scrap. That tractor would be great with a rear scraper scarfiier box for grading.
On you tractor 3pt hitch, they make a hydrolic center link whick would work real good with that skidder. Also looks like you could use an extra 1000 lbs on the front. Love your videos.
I agree with the other people, Thanks for the long vids, great idea using the blower to spark up the fire. Would one of those metal sleeves slide over the hose to stiffen it up
Some time back when he was pushing all that gravel/dirt/rock down the hill in the parking area I was thinking: those trees are going to die. So here we have the removal video.
Andrew use your left and right brakes to steer your tractor when you can’t otherwise and some manufacturers you can get longer arms to use of your 3 point system
Looks like Transite, old house outside like shingles. Can be disposed in NYS by homeowner. However if a contractor does the job it must be double bagged and tagged before bringing to dump. Technically this asbestos becomes airborne if broken , like some appears.
