Another phenomenal episode. I love the twist and turns in this series. Gravik loves to hurt characters when they are defenseless. I love the camera work in this series. I also loved the interactions between Nick Fury and Priscilla Fury, Nick Fury and Skrull Rhodey, and Talos and G'iah. The assault on President Ritson was a great action scene. Gravik using the power of Flora Colossus to kill an American soldier was terrifying and fantastic. Who Do You Trust? Lastly, I love the dialogue in this show.
I loved this episode a lot! I think that as a whole this episode was just so amazing. I am even more gripped and invested to the story and interested in the characters. I felt like everything about it was perfect. Again the writing was incredible, the acting was fantastic, the tone was amazing and dramatic, and the music for this episode just felt like it had a dramatic and emotional feel to it. I thought that the tone, writing and setting for this episode all came together really well to make this feel like such an impactful and engaging start to a story. And just like for the previous episodes, I feel like I just cannot say enough just how great all the performances were in this episode. Each actor was giving an incredible performance and I felt like they were all doing an amazing job. And the writing was just beyond amazing in this episode. Everything about the writing just felt perfect. It felt like every interaction scene or dialogue scene was fully fleshed out. They each had great dramatic moments and moments of tension and emotion. And it was all made even better through the actors incredible performances during these scenes. I honestly just loved getting to listen to the dialogue between the characters. Whether it was the scene between Nick Fury and Priscilla, the scene between Talos and G’iah, or between Fury and Rhodey, they were all just written in such a perfect, engaging and entertaining way that I look forward to seeing more of it from this show. Right off the bat we get to learn about G’iah’s true fate. And I think almost everyone saw it coming that she would’ve enhanced herself with the Extremis powers and that she wasn’t really dead. But I am glad that we actually got to see the moment of her powering herself up get to play out. It was really cool to see the scene that took place in 2012 with Fury and Priscilla which was showing the moments after the events of the first Avengers movie. And it was great to get to see more of their relationship back when it had started. This scene also made their next scene together feel even more emotional and impactful. Then in the church scene we finally get it confirmed that this Rhodey is a Skrull who is working for Gravik. And I really liked how subtle he was with his villainy. He acted and talked more threatening and evil, while still holding on to parts of Rhodey’s personality. And I’ve got to talk about the incredible and beautiful conversation between Nick Fury and Priscilla. This was the most well written and heart wrenching scene of their entire relationship. It really felt like both of them were hurt and very emotional during this moment. And I really liked getting to hear the story of where Priscilla got her skin from, it was both compelling and emotional. And then, for this scene to come to a conclusion with both Fury and Priscilla reciting the poem that they did in the flashback scene which is calling back to a time when their relationship was between was just so beautiful and perfectly written. And I loved how after both of them took the shot, it cut to multiple different shots of their home with the gunshot ringing throughout only for it to be revealed that they both purposefully missed one another. I thought that the action scenes between the Americans and the Skrulls during the ending of the episode were all amazing. Not just the action itself but the amazing camera work and the use of explosions and all the crashing vehicles all came together to make the scene feel so much more entertaining, quick, and believable. Also the blend between his human face and his Skrull face during the scene where Talos was struggling to keep his human form intact looked really cool and had a great blend of practical and visual effects. And I’ve got to talk about Gravik with Groot powers. This scene confirms that Gravik has powered himself up with at least two different abilities. And when in regards to the Groot powers, I hope that we get to see him and other Super Skrulls get to use them more during these next final two episodes. Also can we talk about how cool it looked when Fury shot Gravik in the face but used the Extremis powers to regenerate himself. Then we come to the final scene of the episode where we see the possible death of Talos. This was super surprising to me, I really wasn’t expecting Gravik to just straight up stab him. And he might actually be dead because I don’t see how there could be any other way that he could survive from that, other than it being revealed that the stab had only seriously wounded him. But even then I don’t think that he will be able to join back into this fight full force. I am very curious to see where this moment will lead into next week’s episode. I am loving everything about this show and I can’t wait to see where this show will go next. I am very interested to see how Nick Fury’s story and the story of all the other characters will evolve and turn out through the course of this show. I cannot wait for next week’s episode.
Remember, there's also chance Giah only have extremis power. Gravik could get multiple power via multiple procedures, while Giah only had one procedure.
U know I’ve been thinking after watching episode, remember in the trailer when G’iah enters the room where all people were captured and put in the fracking pods, Rhody and Ross could be among those people that been replaced.
feel like they’ve had rhodes talking slightly different deliberately to show that he’s not always been a skrull. maybe i’m wrong but cheadle has been playing him slightly different in this show there’s a different energy with how he speaks
I also think it would be important to note that there would have been no reason for Rhodes to have been replaced anytime before endgame as the whole skrull invasion thing only began as a direct result of the blip as said in episode one. The rest until then we’re working for Fury.
I love how this show sets up mistrust and mystery, not just with the shapeshifting thing where you wonder who is who, I also mean the words and plans. Like the submerine in episode 3 that was about to launch on the UN plane, and Gaya said that it failed, but Gravik said, "I didn't fail. That plane would have been valuable, finding the traitor was essential." So its like... Gravik might be playing both sides, now don't hold me to that, because at the moment I thing that he is trying to help his people, like they want a home and for their race to survive and thrive as it once did, but maybe later on they will show him as just some maniac that is more obsessed with war than his own people, but anyway, Gravik sets things up to where no one can really know what it is that he is trying to do, like... that skrull who was in the submarine as was going to instagate the others into launching at the plane he took the key out immediately when it was aborted, so he might have known that this wasn't the intended plan, but for arguments' sake, let's just say that none of the other skrulls knew about Gravik's real intention for the plan, like the one helping with the plan and the ones carrying out the plan, and the council members and others who he has told his plans to, say that they actually believed what Gravik told them about firing on the UN plane, they think that that is the plan, but in reality that was never Gravik's intent and he expected the plan to fail so that he could find the traitor amongst the skrulls, so the ones that he told his plans to they actually believe that the plan has failed when that was never Gravik's real plan to being with. So it turns into a situation where it is like, when Gravik gives a plan it is then like, "Is this really your plan, or is there something more to this that you are not telling us?" Because right now you cannot take anything that Gravik is saying at face value, most likely there is something more there, and I like that, because it builds up suspense and distrust in whatever is said and implemented.
When I watched the last episode (and skipped the recap since I was binging and had *just* watched episode 3) I didn't pick up on it being Rhodey's voice on the phone so this one was shocking when the reveal occurred in the church While watching when Fury was saying marrying his wife was his greatest mistakes he made I was thinking "Dude! You know she was told to kill you and was hesitating why are you making her mad?! She is gonna have less reasons to not kill you now!" Like knew Fury couldn't die (maybe) but was still worried he'd be injured or would have to shoot her in defense.. Also it was funny watching Skrull Rhodey and Fury do a little dance of sorts with both pretending everything is fine when "Rhodey" already knows that if Fury was there then his wife didn't kill him And.. that shootout... not a single american soldier reacted to Gravik literally standing right next to them despite they should have been well aware of their surrounding and heard Fury yelling and shit... and the soldier Gravik impersonated (if he was alive still) should have noticed a second him at least lol
The question we all should be asking is... Is Fury gonna be shoot at the end of episode 5 or 6? They like too much shooting someone and cliffhanger us.
I think Rhodey has only been a skrull during Secret Invasion. The skrull rebellion didn’t seemed apparent until Gravik launched his master plan. Rhodey wasn’t as politically motivated before until now, so that would explain why a skrull started masquerading as him. I also believe the attack on Ritson will leave him incapacitated and Thaddeus Ross will succeed him, since Feige already established Ross will assume presidency in Captain America 4. If he gets ahold of Gravik’s super soldier experiment then that could lead him to become Red Hulk finally.
The real Rhodes is definitely out there. They made a point of showing the Rhodey skrulls legs/feet and she’s not wearing braces. I don’t think Rhodes’s injuries were something that can easily be faked. If she were shown wearing leg braces in her normal form THAT would be an insane reveal that Rhodes was a skrull (and a woman skrull at that) for the better part of a decade AT LEAST.
9:43 "I'm not sure if this means we should get divorced or renew our vows." "WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING!" It's so irritating that no TV show or movie conveys just how loud a gunshot is in a closed room.
The show also shows shapeshifting aliens but you're having issues with a gunshot? There's a certain suspension of disbelief when you're watching a TV show, that accounts for gunshots, also for aliens
From trailer shots we still haven't seen. Gi'ah goes to the site and mourns her father, Fury wants revenge and goes back to being the so called 'Old Fury' with the coat and patch and all that, seeking help from that british woman again, and Fury, Gi'ah and Fury's wife all team up against Gravik. Loving the show so much
27:16 People shouldn't be offended by fiction. Simple as that. A story is being told, sometimes that needs to be grounded in real events to make it more relatable and believable.
hmm that does lead to all sorts of issues though. Should people not be offended by a movie depicting Nazis as the good guys? Should people not be offended by a movie that celebrates slavery and slave trade? I dont think the answer is as simple as "Just dont get offended".
@@govinddas7876 You are right I didn't explain myself well enough. What I meant to say was that people shouldn't be offended because real events are mentioned and explored in film. And for your Nazi point, even though they were terrible people, I feel like if done correctly and from the view point of a Nazi it could be done. But I do understand that some topics such as celebrating slavery and depicting Nazis as good guys can be a bit contradictory.
I think it was interesting that Talos turned back into his Skrull form after he got shot and not after he died like we've seen numerous times. I understand that it was a serious gunshot but then I think about how Rhodey fell from the sky and it was pretty serious but didn’t turn back into a Skrull. (Which you guys talked about and I made this comment too early 😂)
That and the skrull had no braces on her legs. Even though skrulls are stronger than humans I think a skrull would still have gotten its spine fucked up like rhodey did in the fall.
The way I screamed at Talos being killed. I summond dogs and had to call out not to terrify my neighbours. This show is giving me high bloodpressure. I love it but also hate it...
I would be okay with making a character we've known be a skrull from the beggining if it were a good one, instead of suddenly not caring about killing humanity after fighting for it so many times
I hope that Rhodey was a Skrull only after endgame. It ruins his characters for the entire infinity saga if he was a skrull the entire time. Just like how I hope Agent Ross was also just a skrull during the beginning of the show and that’s it.
17:58 I want Rhodes, if he hasn't always been a skull, to have been replaced before infinity War, because it would be so tragic if the real one thought Tony was still alive
30:12 it's interesting how they rewrote The Falcon and Winter Soldier because of COVID-19 and had a disclaimer in Ms Marvel finale after the school shooting. We currently live in a hyper politicized world now. People are pissed off about everything
The comparison for the Zygon invasion stuff is silly, the Zygon invasions stuff came after multiple versions of the same story in Marvel. Both in the comics and in Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
I would absolutely hate it if it was before endgame. It would just undermine everything the character went through. I’m pretty sure it’s right after fatws probably.
Making Rhodey a Skrull wouldn't be a problem for me since Talos is also a skrull who pretended to be R. Keller for decades and he still was a good guy and a friend of Fury, but what Rhodey did in this show is very uncharacteristic of him from anything he did before, so I hope the insurgents just captured him during the start of this show.
Remember how in Endgame, after Nebula told Rhodey "I wasn't always like this", he replied with "Me either"? That phrase is going to take on a whole new meaning if it turns out that Rhodey was a Skrull back then...
If I remember correctly years ago I think I remember them saying if it’s a really anticipated show they’ll watch the teaser trailer and sometimes 1st full trailer but never a second full trailer.
Enjoying this show and this was the best episode. There's a lot of missed potential imo though. Also pacing seems a bit weird, there's moments where I feel almost lost at what happens (for example how sudden the attack on the president was led in in this episode), other moments they drag scenes very long for a show with so little episodes. This episode being this short made no sense
24:30 Actually that might be it ! I was questionning how on earth a regular Skrull could be able to break the window of a reinforced motorcade while wounded, it being G'aia would make sense given the super strength of the super skrull serum
Say you were running away from a mad man who wants to kill you the second he finds you. The police or the law can't help you, because you are an alien. An outsider. There is only one place available for you to stay safe. But since you are an alien, you expect that the people living in the house would never give you shelter because of who you are. You have two choices: Die or break in. You can break in by pretending to be the friend of the people living in the house, or you threaten them. Which would work out in the long run? Also, can you beg from another beggar?
Yes, you can beg a begger. The scenario you describe would be justified and is exactly what Talos did 30 years earlier. The problem I'm commenting on is that these idiots (not Eric. As normal, he was watching the show while the other 2 had a fuckabout) were genuinely laughing at the suggestion that a person shouldn't be judged by the actions of another person of their race.
@@crimsonghoul8983 That's my point. It's disappointing hearing such toxic views being casually spouted by Blindwave. Arguably this sort of casual racism is much worse than saying something offensive purely to get a reaction. This is their unguarded opinion and its very unpleasant.
Gravik is very quickly becoming one of the most hated villains in the MCU. I didn’t think anyone could rival the High Evolutionary from GOTG Vol 3 in terms of being absolutely despicable, but Gravik is on his way up there. He has now become as truly evil as the Skrulls in the comics. Also I hate what they did to Talos. They make him this incredibly complex character throughout the show but then make him almost naive when it came to Skrulls coexisting among humans. To quote K from Men In Black “People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals”; even if they got someone as beloved and trustworthy to the masses as Captain Marvel, Captain America, or even Spider-Man, they would never truly accept them. Ben Mendelssohn is amazing as Talos, I just wish we had more time with him. Also the scenes with Fury and his wife are PHENOMENAL to watch! I love that this show is giving Samuel L Jackson more time to play Nick Fury in this show than he has throughout the MCU.
I mean I don't think he is being naïve, he is an idealist. That has always been who he is and that's why they removed him as general of the Skrulls. I think he serves as a hard contrast with Gravik: one doesn't trust humans at all and the other trusts more than he should. You can draw a lot of parallels to minority groups in the real world. That's a Marvel classic like Professor X and Magneto. Xavier know humans are not going to just accept them out of nowhere but he has to try because that's the only moral alternative.
@@gabrieldossantos1116 Talos is also very realistic. I'm sure he's aware that the Asguardians are living on earth. If I remember correctly, Asguardians are much stronger than humans and so they also pose a huge threat to our species but Thor's heroics bought them a lot of favour in the eyes of the general public even tho Loki was his brother. I think with enough goodwill, Talos's plan could have worked in the long term
@@jjfam777 This right here is such an important detail people keep overlooking. The only drawback is the Skrulls never really tried to contact humans directly on Earth and be like "Hey, so we got fucked over. Can we maybe talk about some kind of asylum or something?" Which at the end of the day is kind of Fury's fault. So I guess that's why we have a show haha
Two Asgardians saved Earth on multiple occasions, Thor already had a great reputation before they moved to earth and the Skrulls have been hiding and infiltrating Earth governments for decades
@4:54 you haven't read the right poem, Eric. there's a poem or lines of prose or even raps that just speak to the soul the moment you hear them. i hope you find words that touch your heart, everyone deserves to be moved by poetry at least once in their life...some of my favorite poems and rhymes are in spanish and don't translate well which is true for a lot of languages...meaning and intention can be lost in translation but poetry has a way of connecting people emotionally through spoken word...ethan hawke said the only time people really turn to poetry is in times of immense or joy [funerals and weddings] because we hope to find someone who has put into words those feelings we can't seem to sum up. he says poetry is magically timeless that way...my favorite english poem is the Old Astronomer to His Pupil by Sarah Williams and almost anything written by tupac packs a punch. *Talos* had to fall, IMO. His hope for the future was an incredibly naive one, as *G'iah* pointed out - although *Calvin* and *Aaron* were talking over him when he shared it with her. As for _getting offended…_ *Aaron* touched on it a bit, where one should never be offended on behalf of someone else. Allow the person or group who's likely to be offended some agency. Unless they are unable to speak for themselves, I don't see the point in being offended on their behalf.
I don’t think “getting offended for someone else” even exists. To me, it’s more of either, dependent on the situation, a sense of justice or just having sensitivity of a situation.
@@ThePenpachi of course it exists. Aaron's discussion topic actually came very close to him doing exactly that. As well as the responses from the others. While I'm not on Twitter, all you have to do is look on the social-media sites like that and it's replete with people being upset on behalf of _somebody else,_ or some group they're not a part of. Often times the person or people in question are not even offended. That's when we get into _virtue signaling._
@@ThePenpachi 👈Love the name, btw. 😏 *EDIT:* Oh, and _cancel culture_ is also where we find it happening.
I love how the series went from "oh no a small group of americans committed a terrorist act" and the Russian response is "oh lets kill their leader"
I mean to be fair Nick fucking Fury was there, it’s relatively easy to jump to the assumption it was a US sanctioned operation
What do you mean? The russians in this episode were Skrulls, right?
@@MrPopTartedthe comment was on the basis of the outside perspective
@@MrPopTarted I don't think they were all Skrulls, at least not the troops, because there're not turning back after getting shot.
Russian history and current events would suggest that's not an unrealistic opinion or reaction from Russia.
Remember, there's also chance Giah only have extremis power. Gravik could get multiple power via multiple procedures, while Giah only had one procedure.
Their DNA would match who they turned into, Carol Danvers said that to Fury in the Captain Marvel movie
The "cutting a finger" thing happened in episode 2, where Sonya Falsworth cut off one of the dudes fingers and it turned into a skrull finger!
I loved Talos 😢😢
How does him wanting to find the traitor in his group an evidence of him playing both sides? Or him being an obsessed maniac?
Don Cheedle is an incredible actor.
When I watched the last episode (and skipped the recap since I was binging and had *just* watched episode 3) I didn't pick up on it being Rhodey's voice on the phone so this one was shocking when the reveal occurred in the church
While watching when Fury was saying marrying his wife was his greatest mistakes he made I was thinking "Dude! You know she was told to kill you and was hesitating why are you making her mad?! She is gonna have less reasons to not kill you now!" Like knew Fury couldn't die (maybe) but was still worried he'd be injured or would have to shoot her in defense..
Also it was funny watching Skrull Rhodey and Fury do a little dance of sorts with both pretending everything is fine when "Rhodey" already knows that if Fury was there then his wife didn't kill him
And.. that shootout... not a single american soldier reacted to Gravik literally standing right next to them despite they should have been well aware of their surrounding and heard Fury yelling and shit... and the soldier Gravik impersonated (if he was alive still) should have noticed a second him at least lol
Eric on his phone while Calvin and Aaron argue is hilarious
The question we all should be asking is...
Is Fury gonna be shoot at the end of episode 5 or 6?
They like too much shooting someone and cliffhanger us.
He might get shot .....to reveal it was a skrull posing as fury all this time lol
I can't be the only person who when I heard the line about making it seem like the Russians while watching thought "Remember ONLY Russian" right?
You mean no Russian?
I believe the Queen is portraying Rhodie
Yes. Queen Elizabeth is the real villain!
Was looking forward to this
Me too
Just now realising Fury's wife is Mr glass mum from unbreakable
Id say the blip is called that by people who were snapped saying they were only gone for a blip
Other people call it that too. A lot of lines have been “when you blipped for 5 years” across the MCU.
We still getting “Armor Wars” movie with rhodey so no way he’s been skrull all this time
Rhodes probably got replaced after falcon and winter soldier
PLEASE have a banana duct taped to the wall behind you when you do episode 5 next week
No Ahsoka trailer ?
Would be nice if the skrulls could some place on earth that would welcome aliens without a home or planet. Some place like New Asgard perhaps.
27:00 It's called the "WOW!" signal.

"We should be f-king dead, my friend. We just witnessed a motherfu-king miracle."
When Sonya cut the finger off of the Skrull she tortured it reverted back to Skrull appearance
9:43
"I'm not sure if this means we should get divorced or renew our vows."
"WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING!"
It's so irritating that no TV show or movie conveys just how loud a gunshot is in a closed room.
The show also shows shapeshifting aliens but you're having issues with a gunshot? There's a certain suspension of disbelief when you're watching a TV show, that accounts for gunshots, also for aliens
Bro they said that after like 10 seconds how did you not hear that
Armor wars is still coming out, so the real Rhodes is still out there
tbh after Secret Invasion I'm kinda glad it's gonna be a movie now instead of a series. The pacing will be much better for one thing.

Loving the show so much
Was there not someone in a military uniform in the pods from a previous episode? They didn't show any distinguishing marks on who it could be -Rhodes?
I don’t think he was a Skrull until after Endgame
That and the skrull had no braces on her legs. Even though skrulls are stronger than humans I think a skrull would still have gotten its spine fucked up like rhodey did in the fall.
I wished Rick be there, he would really loved SI😂
The way I screamed at Talos being killed. I summond dogs and had to call out not to terrify my neighbours. This show is giving me high bloodpressure. I love it but also hate it...
I would be okay with making a character we've known be a skrull from the beggining if it were a good one, instead of suddenly not caring about killing humanity after fighting for it so many times
I'm convinced Rhodes is a relatively recent replacement situation.
I hope that Rhodey was a Skrull only after endgame. It ruins his characters for the entire infinity saga if he was a skrull the entire time. Just like how I hope Agent Ross was also just a skrull during the beginning of the show and that’s it.
I think them explicitly showing her feet/legs being fine was the hint that she hasn’t been impersonating Rhodes very long.
17:58 I want Rhodes, if he hasn't always been a skull, to have been replaced before infinity War, because it would be so tragic if the real one thought Tony was still alive
Rhodey is getting his own solo movie called armor wars so some version of Rhodey will stick around
Actually could make sense. Rhodey coming back and finding his clone gave away stark tech ti a bunch of people,. and he needs to take them all down
That's it. No more trusting anyone. Lone Wolf Mode Nick.
30:12 it's interesting how they rewrote The Falcon and Winter Soldier because of COVID-19 and had a disclaimer in Ms Marvel finale after the school shooting.
We currently live in a hyper politicized world now. People are pissed off about everything
We all called g'iah, but I don't think talos will get the same chance... which suuuucks, I loved him
Armor Wars, where Rhodey in the main character is still coming up
The comparison for the Zygon invasion stuff is silly, the Zygon invasions stuff came after multiple versions of the same story in Marvel. Both in the comics and in Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Pricilla is Elijahs mom from Unbreakable! lol
Cobie Smulders is getting PAID for these "guest appearances"!
No reaction to the new ahsoka trailer ?
they aren't doing it, they want to go into the series blind
My guess is it was the real Rhodey we saw up to the UN meeting and he got replaced between then and the meeting when he fired Fury.
10:12 EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
It’s been confirmed that Rhodey has been a Skrull for a while now. The only question is, how long?
better be after endgame
It would be epic that he would be a Skrull after civil war or even before, but it's probably after endgame or maybe after fatws
I would absolutely hate it if it was before endgame. It would just undermine everything the character went through. I’m pretty sure it’s right after fatws probably.
Does it matter? Rhodey has had zero character development in 15 years of screen time.
For all we know, Rhodey could have been a Skrull from the very beginning, like all the way back to the first Iron Man film.
That phrase is going to take on a whole new meaning if it turns out that Rhodey was a Skrull back then...
it would also make his reaction to tony's death so much more interesting.
Wasn't that because of his injury in civil war though?
@@brandon-cz4nl Yes, but this line will have a double meaning if they reveal that he was a Skrull when he said that
It would take away from the moment so much.
I hope not, it was a reference to his heavy injury in Civil War

Enjoying this show and this was the best episode. There's a lot of missed potential imo though. Also pacing seems a bit weird, there's moments where I feel almost lost at what happens (for example how sudden the attack on the president was led in in this episode), other moments they drag scenes very long for a show with so little episodes. This episode being this short made no sense
Blimp is when the skrull plan went into action right?
24:30 Actually that might be it ! I was questionning how on earth a regular Skrull could be able to break the window of a reinforced motorcade while wounded, it being G'aia would make sense given the super strength of the super skrull serum
In episode 1, Talos ripped off a padlock chain with his bare hands without any effort. Normal skrulls are much stronger than humans.

Where is your Ahsoka trailer reaction, man?
Talos didn't "break into the house"
He's just rhe same race as the people that did.
Troubling that you don't understand the difference.

@@Jim_The_Fish I was referring to the constant guessing. Why bother if they don't know?
I love gravik as a villain !
10:17 😂😂😂
After only watching GOTG a few days ago, I'm afraid High Evolutionary still holds that title 😭😭
Can we maybe talk about some kind of asylum or something?"

Is everyone forgetting New Asgard is still a thing on this Earth. Earthlings seem to tolerate those aliens. Just saying

As for _getting offended…_ *Aaron* touched on it a bit, where one should never be offended on behalf of someone else. Allow the person or group who's likely to be offended some agency. Unless they are unable to speak for themselves, I don't see the point in being offended on their behalf.
