    I love that your craft room is REAL! All of the furniture I have in my crafting space are pieces I've picked up off the side of the road or from yard sales that I've fixed up/painted myself and it makes my space feel even more special/creative! I would love to have the perfect craft room with all store-bought furniture but when you're on a tight budget you work with what you've got! I love small storage finds from Target, Walmart, Mardens, and the Dollar Tree as well!

    Being frugal is not about having less, but getting more with what you have! People are often surprised at my collection until I explain what was given to me ny whom and how little I paid on clearance! Love sharing your crafty artsy life. Thanks!

    Fabulous tour. I am just organising all my stash - paper crafting, stamps, die cutting, knitting, sewing, beading & embroidery. Nice to see that I am not the only one that loves all kinds of crafting stash. Great to have it all organised where you can access what you need easily. Thanks for sharing - love your videos.

    Finally somebody who's into, or done, even more crafts and art forms than I have! Loved it, nice to know there is somebody else out there who still has the stuff for ALL their interests even if they aren't currently actively working in some of them.

    Watching your room tour and all your varied supplies made me feel so much better about all the various craft supplies I've accumulated over the years, some for crafts I don't do as much anymore, but that I still don't want to get rid of them.

    Fabulous. I have just moved house and have a craft room! Yeah. I had stuff all over the previous house as I only had a corner.I am so looking forward to organizing my things and saying hello to all my lovely craft supplies which spent 6 months in my friends garage. I am pleased you said about something that worked a year ago might not work now. I have some things that may need tweaking.

    Woman, as usual, you're a friggin' genius. I have the same rolling cart that you received from Kathy as a gift. For several years, I've bemoaned the fact that the "drawers" have lids... so you have to pull the whole thing out to access the contents. Until you said it, I never realized that the lids are removable!!!! Another problem solved by my favorite crafting guru. Thank you!!

      thefrugalcrafter . I have several of those carts. Not just for me, but for my son's seemingly never ending growing collection of legos, mega blocks, and the like. I like the fact that they have lids to keep those contained lol All 5 of the ones I have purchased were bought when they where 50% off and I had a take an extra 10% off total purchase! Otherwise those things are friggin pricey!

    I love seeing other art/craft rooms. I've been planning a art room redo for the first of the year, but flu reset our schedules. Now it needs a make over more than ever because the room became a catch it all during the holidays and is a total mess. I like your shelves, I need more shelves that can be adjusted as needed. Thanks for sharing.

    All so wonderful. Especially fond of the fire extinguisher on your table! That gave me a chuckle. I appreciate your story of accumulating supplies over a period of time. I began about 20 years ago, but I've found that when I don't use certain items, they are useless and dried up. Squeeze tubes of puffy paints, liquid pearls, markers, etc.

    I love how you know exactly what you have down there. Very organised. We don't have basements in Australia unfortunately but if we did there would be resident huntsman spiders in there for sure. They are large and scare the heck out of you 😃 I am new to your tutorials but really enjoy them. Thankyou.

    Oh my gosh! I am lovin' your channel. I watched your tour from a year ago. I immediately went out to my storage trailer and pulled out two carts I had with those scrapbook holders you had to pull all the way out to get inside, and pulled the tops off. Putting them to good use at this very moment. Thank you. Going to watch some more of your videos now while I organize them. Lol.Have a great day : )

    I love that you have such a variety of supplies! I dont have much anymore, but i used to. I wanted to tell you how I store my cling mount stamps. I also use a binder, but i got some transparencies and i stick them on the transparencies. I make a sample sheet to show what they look like stamped and when i open it up the sample page will be on the left and the stamps will be in the same spot on the right. if i have stamps that dont want to stick, i will put a transparency over the stamps as well. This seems to work well with visitors who use my stamps or for classes. they always know what they are going to get with that stamp. Thanks for sharing you space. Love it! hugs~ Malinda

    I too have so much stuff for many, many different art forms. What amazes me about you is....you actually seem to know where everything is. I am organized for the most part, but don't have the space to have everything visible. Therefore, I spend to much time looking for "stuff". Love your videos, thank you.. M

    Great new updated video of your space and your improved storage solutions. I also move things around on a regular basis to get the most out of my stash. If I find that I am not using something then I change how I store it. Just repurposed a spice rack to store my craft paints as they look nice and maybe they will tempt me into using them more. Thanks for all your inspiration and good advice. Thumbs up to your new camera assistant.

    What a wonderful tour. I recently put new shelves in my craftroom closet and have reorganized all my "stuff" (although nothing in the way of your stuff.) Here's something I have started to do when I'm working on a project. The supplies I'm using are usually randomly placed all around my workspace and it seems I can never find something I just had in my hand. Lately I've been bringing out a basket and place all of the tools and supplies I'm using in that basket for that particular project, as I use them. Then when I want it again, I only have to rummage through that one basket to find that item, i.e., the banner die or the word stamp, the spool of ribbon for those mutliple cards, etc. When I'm finally done with the project, I put them all back in place. Sure helps my workplace be a bit neater during crafting. Love all your crafty tips. Thanks!

    I recently started using scrapbooks with 12 x 12" clear plastic page protectors in them to store my stencils in, so they don't get torn up. I'm a virgo also and even thought i have enough stuff to be called a hoarder, I like it to be organized. I have those plastic and metal shelves from Sam's all around the perimeter of the room. I found a plastic storage shelf like yours at Home Depot that is the right size for watercolor paper and a friend made mini shelves for it out of masonite that I can put the paper on to separate the different kinds so it's not so heavy to get out.
    I've also been having a friend convert all my painting videos to dvd's for me to save space.

  • @violetverhoog9350
    @violetverhoog9350 10 лет назад

    Wow, and my hubby thinks I have a load of supplies!! Nice craft room and very well organized. I'm a Virgo and I hate things all over the place. I like how you took the lids off those containers for easy access. I have my 12x12 papers stored in them, in a rolling cart ($5.00 yard sale find) and I hate having to pull it all the way out, flip over the top, to get a piece of paper out! Off the tops are coming now!!!!
    By the way, hubbies cousin made me two of the pencil cases like your husband made for you...One for my Tombow markers and one for my Prismacolor pencils. Thanks for the idea. I sent the video to him so he would know exactly what I wanted and he delivered them the next day!

    I love you shows,it was good seeing your room and knowing that not every container match, like on some of the craft rooms shown. I like you started out painting in all mediums first then got into Jewellery making china painting so I have 3 kilns,Then in 2000 got into card making and scrap booking. Like you I go from one hobbie to the next, I'll get half way through making a Quilt and loose interest and jump to making a card for a friends birthday.So I need areas set up for different crafts which is quite hard sometimes. I'm glad my space looks more like yours and does need to keep changing.I would rather buy more supplies than spend all my money on matching containers.As there is always yummy new products coming out. Keep up the great you tube videos we love them in Australia from Jac

    I love seeing your room. I have a similar space, but it looks like a craft bomb went off. LOL. I hope to get it under control again soon. Can you use the Harbor Freight heat gun for embossing and drying, or is it too hot for that? Also, I noticed you have a laminator. I got one during Christmas, and I'm not sure what kinds of things to use it for. Ideas? Thank you for ALL you do and share. It is so inspiring.

      the heat gun is fine for embossing, use the low setting and hold it further from the paper. I recently gave a lot of my "stuff" to the art department of a local high school... things I never use anymore. I rearrange my studio at least once a year, and discovered that I was moving things from here to there that didn't really serve my purposes. However, I can't get everything in the studio because I need wall space to put art on. So I have an office in the house for my paper arts, like albums and diecutting, and another space for sewing. As I have gotten older, I find that simple surroundings suit me much more. And also, if I can't see it, I forget I have it! One thing I wondered, is where do you store your completed projects?

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  10 лет назад

      I have a cart near my stairway that holds crates of my completed projects for sale, I also have a rack for paintings. When a project is done it gets packaged, prices and put on the rack so I am ready for any fair or festival I want to sell at:)

    Love your craft room! I agree that a large craft supply can be acquired frugally over time. Incentives, gifts, repurposed items, sale, Dollar Tree, etc. Question: Do you ever throw anything away like artwork that didn't come out how you wanted (the first flower inktense artwork you did last week), resin or clay items that failed, etc? If not, I'd love ideas in future vids on repurposing crafts that don't go well the first time. ;)

    hoarders ??? You're funny, lolol ..I watched hoarders a few times on you tube recently and afterwards I went on an organizing.trash to the dump frenzy lolol ..Thats some scary stuff .I too am managing to bring my studio into a workable motief ... I am glad to see your use of reuse ..I am currently labeling my homemade stamps.(what a chore )These stamps (mostly silhouette in nature ) are made of roll rubber roofing scraps from a construction site .I made the mounts with scraps from the local cabinet shop (which has the scrap pile to die for mostly beautiful maple cedar red wood etc etc ...i have made doll houses and shelving and mounted many many stamps from the scraps from this cabinet shop.currently i am working with lighter weight cardboard. I also have a good local steady source for . I enjoy your vids..I like seeing people have no cut off on the possibilities plus keep it all organized and with ducks in a row lol .I like your self sufficiency and how you have become efficient enough to make your own tools for crafting .

    What a wonderful look around your craft space. Thank you for sharing it with us. I love to see how other people have their space organised, (mine is not). I do try, but then get carrieda way and stuff gets lerft out, then........blah blah, I must learn to tidy away. tell the kids often enough huh?! Lol.
    Your hair is gorgeous btw. Thought I'd mention it.
    Also, thanks to Kathy for filming. In-case you didn't know, when the camera is being zoomed in, it cuts off the mic. (In-case, it's important any time), not on zoom out, just zoom in.
    Thanks again :o)

      well, if you are organized and have a good workflow you can put stuff back in a jiffy. That is also why I like bins and baskets and stuff without lids I can easily access, it makes returning stuff to their homes a snap too!

    I love organization and loved this video. I could fit all my craft supplies in a brown paper bag but I'm just starting. The first thing I noticed on your video was a fire extinguisher. Great! Please talk about that some time and spread the word about fire safety, having a working extinguisher near by as well as a planned escape route, as you have a lot of viewers. Thanks!

    one more tip that I haven't seen - I teach classes at a school, so I put all my things for the class in a rolling suitcase to make it easier to get it from my studio to the class. I teach several different classes, so I have a rolling suitcase for each class so I don't have to pack and unpack them. I'm lucky to be able to get them for free from a recycling center, but otherwise they sell them at second hand stores also.

    I have a question about die cutting machines. I would like to get one, but when I go to look, different prices, different sizes. So I find it hard to pick. I already have a cricut, so is getting a die cutting/embossing machine worth it for what it does.
    Love your room. Thanks for sharing.

    Wow. That's a lot of stuff. Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the amount of supplies you have? I am a scrapbooker, card maker, and I've recently gotten into mixed media. I have more supplies than I will probably ever be able to use and to be quite honest sometimes the sheer amount of stuff I have is off putting and I end up leaving my studio without creating much at all. Poor me right?!

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  10 лет назад

      That can happen if you collect a lot of supplies in a short time. It sounds like you need a workflow. Grab a few supplies you want to use more and put them in reach, then make sure the stuff you already know you need is handy too, you can put stuff like glue, tape, pens etc in a basket on your desk. I use clear box picture frames as trays to corral supplies for a project and gather them before I sit down to work. It is really helpful when I need to get assignments done. I get overwhelmed when I have a mews or a lot of assignments to get done. Having a calendar where I write my plans for he day helps too!

    Besides art classes and craft shows, do you sell items that you make online or in a studio?

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  10 лет назад +1

      I will hang paintings in a cafe occasionally but I sell most of my stuff directly at fairs of if a blog reader/YT viewer contacts me, I hate messing with computers, listing stuff online takes too much time for me:) I'd rather create and schlepp it all to a craft or art fair:)

    Hi Lindsay, one question: How do you keep your room clean, "dustwise"? Doesn´t it take HOURS?!

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  8 лет назад +2
