I saw the show yesterday. It's an emotional rollercoaster. So many powerful images and sounds. I kept wondering how it would end. And then this version of Heroes kicks in ... I'll never forget it. Thank you.
Evan Alexander It's a sequel to the man who fell to earth. This Musical was written by David himself before he died. It ended in January but it Was Filmed for future release.
I just finished watching the live stream It makes me really sad that I missed it in NYC. I was in NYC the weekend that ended up being the weekend that Bowie died and had tried my darnedest for months to get tickets to the show while I was there.
@@mjb-voice Likewise, I had missed out on tickets when Lazarus had its 2016 London residency. How great that we got a second chance to experience it on streaming? What I loved is how with these new musical arrangements I was actually listening to the lyrics, like poetry. An excellent tribute to the genius of David Bowie's songwriting. I plan to watch The Man Who Fell To Earth this week so hopefully, the stage show will make sense to me. I really enjoyed the show and Michael C. Hall was perfectly cast. ruclips.net/video/-72arp27Tzs/видео.html
It’s a fact that Bowie did not want to use this song in the musical. He had to be convinced that they could make it fit. Boy did it fit. It’s very much a version you could hear Bowie performing. I was lucky enough to see this in London with the original cast.
It doesn't matter if it's 'not as powerful as the original' which, by the way, is an unoriginal opinion. This was produced in the context of a PLAY, with a compilation of various Bowie songs at the forefront. Comments about the lack of Bowie are coming from people that are missing the point here. This is essentially the STORY of David Bowie, not David Bowie himself. Comparing these play renditions of his music to the originals is a waste of time and words. Just because you're hearing it online doesn't make it 'a cover attempting to be better than the original'. That never happens, even with straight cover songs.
Good God, don't people understand this is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from Bowie - a completely different genre, for God's sake! So stupid. And he arranged it and decided it should be done this way! (eye roll!)
Wonderful interpretation of one of Bowie's greatest works. Beautifully arranged to fit the context of the play. Damn!...I so want to see LAZARUS now! I don't know if I can wait for it to come to Philly....may have to go to NYC. These recent releases have sold me on this play.
It's sad that the only thing left of Lazarus is the soundtrack and the script. Lazarus is over. Everyone is saying that a DVD is coming but they filmed the London and New York productions and neither has been released. I guess it's time to say goodbye...so goodbye Lazarus. RIP David and thank you...💔
Unfortunately I think you are right. I saw a snippet of an interview where Robert Fox said everyone had to agree it did the musical justice before it would be released. Obviously nothing could match a live performance so . . .
Well I never knew Id see and interpret this beautiful song in yet another unique and lovely pale light until I saw Lazarus today. Genius. Thankyou for the early Christmas present David. You have always been the gift that keeps on giving xxx.
I can pass I lie detector test, and it's easy to make people look anytype of way when u pay them to do so, I have never in my life hurt no one for no reason, nether have I tricked or pretended to be something I'm not, I would love to sit with all my accusers and a lie detector test, I'm not hiding from nothing I'm an open book
I only saw the filmed version, and I've got to admit I wasn't crazy about it, but this ending really got me and this recording of it does too - it's so sad! I love it.
It is David's voice...…. he was dying when he made this. He made this for us, to remember him. New York Cast of Lazarus …….. he was at the time in New York. Ask Annie, Annie Lennox
I agree. I'm trying to figure out where Bowie was going with this. He had to know the void of not having him present would leave. Was that the point? I really don't know what the musical is about...I need enlightenment from a NYer who has seen it.
StolenSnow On face value, I agree. But you need to see it in the context of the play. It's Newton singing to his daughter. And don't forget, Bowie was 100% hands on with these new interpretations and arrangements

Saw the show on Wednesday and on the day the sound was much more raw than this and less musical. Huge amount of emotion lacking from this studio rendition
Am I the only one who thinks this man shouldn't carry on Bowie's legacy? (As everyone is saying). I don't think he is nearly "qualified" to carry out what Bowie can do
God damn Michael C Hall, holy shit. Absolutely breathtaking
Michael C Hall has such a great voice. Amazing performance.
Beautiful interpretation of the life of one of the most individual individuals, ever. He was truly a STARMAN.

I love this arrangement of Heroes for the stage musical, Lazarus. Who is here after watching the live stream on David Bowie's birthday?

Heroes is such a great song it sounds amazing done in any style from this quiet version all the way to Motörhead’s cover.

Annmarie Brewer it's based on the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth. Bowie starred in the movie adaption in the 70's.

Bowie picked him.
Elliot Hyland saw the show. Michael C hall does a fucking stand up job. I didn't like him at all until I saw the show.
Bowie himself chose him. Please respect his wish. Also, Michael C. Hall rocks, period.
It's a musical based on his works. They're not trying to replicate what he's done.
Not qualified? Michael C Hall started his career on broadway, is actually a trained actor, bowie picked him......prettttyyyy sure he is qualified
