    Perfect! Thank you so much for actively sharing your tips for health and safety practices. Here in Canada we are used to having "cold & flu season" each year, and there are always kiddos with snot, chocolate, ketchup and such in the face painting lines year-round, so hygiene practices have always been necessary. During this time of heightened caution, however, it is extra important to be diligent, keeping everyone safe, and also providing families and communities with reassurances that their children are protected. 👨‍👨‍👧‍👧👍🏻👍🏻

      Thank you so much Heather for your comment. We really hope we can make sure kids can still enjoy face painting while at the same time we keep them safe since their safety comes first. Thank you for watching!

    Hi, when you use your brush, you clean and dip it into alcool, how long do you let it dry before using it again on your gig? I saw that the brush should be sanitized in alcool for at least 30 sec, is it right? Thank you for sharing with us :)

    • @JestPaint
      @JestPaint  3 года назад +1

      Hi Audrey, You need to let the brush fully air dry before using, which will depend on the type of bristles and how dense the brush is.

    Hi thank you for this video. I was wondering, does alcohol dry out your brushes?

  • @arianbaynes3485

    Are you saying you need a brush for each side of the design if you have to reload? It would take a few hours for a brush to dry so how would you do 10 kids unless you had hundreds of brushes? Did I miss something? I think face mask would be good too I paint mine pretty 🌸 Cheers

    • @JestPaint
      @JestPaint  3 года назад

      Yes, unfortunately with this method you will need a clean brush to reload otherwise you might be transferring germs from the skin back into the paint. Another option is to spray something like Graftobian Makeup and Kit Sanitizing spray on the paints that you used and let them dry before using them on another child.

    How do you sanitize the sponges ?

    • @JestPaint
      @JestPaint  2 месяца назад

      Hi, to clean your sponges is best to use a disinfectant soap, wash them in the laundry machine on their own, and then let air dry in the sun, making sure that they can't get contaminated by anything else.

    Can you just rinse it in alcohol, then rinse it water to get the alcohol out?

    • @mossm8304
      @mossm8304 Год назад

      I think the alcohol will disappear like a hand sanitiser.
      I looked up the other instructors noticed that do not rinse out the alcohol.

    • @Jael_1776

      Alcohol has to very wet and left to evaporate in order to be effective. There’s no time for that on the job.

      You can contact Kryolan, but I wouldn't use it if you are sure it is fungus and not just baby wipe fuzz.

    Oh boy, 5 jars! I don't know what speed will be after we are allow to go back to work, but this set up looks like 3-5 kids per hour. During my gigs I would get so busy, painting up to 20 kids in one hour, that I would rinse by brush in my coffee mug :) by mistake. Imagine 5 different jars. Plus all these lids! At least I don't have to worry about that, because all my paints are in one laptop case, otherwise this is just crazy. And sponges! Simple math - if I have 20/hour for let's say 6 hours (during festivals sometime was even longer hours) I need 120 sponges, but if design has 2 or 3 different colors, or if you need to load a second half of a butterfly.... you do the math - insane! She didn't show Spiderman, rainbow unicorn or rainbow tiger :)))) I know we all have to adopt, but at the same time all this is too much. I always kept the rule not to paint kids with suspected cold or flu, even if mommy says it's allergies. You can't sanitize everything 100%, either people will take chances or not. If people paranoid, they should just not get their kids painted. Plus I never came across what CDC has to say about face painting - all this is just someone's guess.

      HI Natalie, It can look daunting for sure! This video uses the best practices to avoid spread of germs. Makeup artists in Canada and those on cruise ships have been doing this for years due to their regulations and they learn to adapt. It is up to each artist in the US to create a system that works for them. We just wanted to show a system that would minimize germ spread as completely as possible. I know that the kids will be more likely to pick up germs from other kids and adults or touching everything at a party than they will being with a face painter for 5 minutes, especially if the face painter is wearing a mask. Wishing you the best as you are able to get back to work!

      I'm a make up artist turning facepainter. Scares me how unsanitary a lot of face painters seem to be. Yes time is money, but not at the risk of providing a home for germs.

    Most of these techniques will not work for my designs.... I have always wiped kids faces before painting them, and never paint any I think have a cold or snotty nose..... I don't use brushes much, just for a bit of detail.... with my designs I need to reload my sponge a few times to finish a face design. If I need to load a new sponge each time, I not only waste paint but waste time and will need a few hundred sponges when I do a 4-5 + gig... let alone the amount of water I would go through....

    • @JestPaint

      Hi! Thank you so much for your response. Times are changing and we will need to adapt. Keeping your practices as sanitary as possible will ensure that more people will want to hire you and will keep our customers safe. If you usually need to re load your sponge, try loading it a bit more and practice at home now to adjust the designs to this new more sanitary method. You won't be using any more water, you will just have it separated, so one is just for loading, one just for rinsing. As far as paint goes, yes, you are likely to use a tiny bit more paint, but it is worth it to keep our customers safe and to continue to have customers. In regards to how many sponges you will need, yes, normally we carry around about 100 sponges or more, we cut them in halves or quarters so that they don't take that much space :)
      Thank you for watching and for your feedback. We will continue to come up with ideas on how to move our profession forward in a safe and hygienic way :)
