How amazing is this video idea?! I’m sure many people have asked the question you just answered here. The Warcry community is privileged to have you making content for us.
Dude this is excellent! My LGS is starting up a Spearhead League and my first thought was what kind of Warbands can I make from a single spearhead box. Thanks for putting this together. The Sylvaneth looks like a fun warband.
As someone who has been looking to get into the hobby, but finding it difficult to pick between spearhead and warcry as the best starting point, this is really just what I was looking for. Great video! :)
Thus is sooo good! Insta sub. Could you do more list building videos?? For new folk. Wpuld love to be able to just click a build to start out. I got alot of models in skaven seraphon and maggotkin but only 2x warbands
When I first heard about spearhead, I was really worried GW would try to use it to replace warcry, but it really looks like it will be an amazing entry point for new players. This video is an amazing resource. I hope it reaches the right people.
Hey! wanted to ask about Slaves to Darkness 21:50 All Chaos Warriors from the box have to be with the shield in terms of their visual style. So if you want to make roster with paired weapons, it would be "proxy" models with shields?
You can use either :) Warriors with double weapons are the most expensive of the 3 chaos warrior builds, so if you're only allowed shields you can bring them with shields with no problem. I wrote the video before knowing what exactly would be allowed in each spearhead specifically.
Love the video. Definitely would advise a little different on Gloomspite Gitz warband. You get 3 nets in the box, and spears give you that tiny bit of grace to survive with that 2" range. Also not sure about the way they work as a spearhead, but if it's possible to build the Hoppers as Bounders, the Bounder Boss gets that extra range, Toughness & Crit in exchange for 2 less move & 1 less attack.
New to Spearhead/Warcry, so really enjoyed the intro/guidance. Any chance you have these lists available as a text file or something? Would be handy for reference as I learn more about Warcry.
Turns out that it's GW's fault and when you search for the term spearhead on their website, DOK dont turn up XD I'd run something like this: ``` ---------- Warband Roster 965pts | 8 fighters - Gorgai (255pts, Hero) - Melusai Ironscale (245pts, Hero) - Doomfire Warlock (140pts) - Witch Aelf with Paired Sciansá (65pts) - Witch Aelf with Paired Sciansá (65pts) - Witch Aelf with Paired Sciansá (65pts) - Witch Aelf with Paired Sciansá (65pts) - Witch Aelf with Paired Sciansá (65pts) ---------- ``` The gorgai is a real solid hero piece along with the less solid but still decent Melusai and the Doomfire Warlock has the pretty neat Doomfire Triple.
@@OffMetaMusings That my friend looks as a solid list, might squeeze in some sisters slaughter with whip and dagger for the extra reach too. Thanks for the quick response 😉👋🏻
And can you mix and match - can I play spearhead with a team consisting of maybe some Hunter of Hauchi chameleons, some Kroxigors and something like a Slann Starmaster unit?
Unfortunately no. Spearhead has a fixed list building system where whatever is in the box is what you have to play with so there is no mix and matching unless you play full Age of Sigmar (which admittedly is far more expensive to get into)
The starhost box comes with all of this; - 1x Slann Starmaster - 3x Aggradon Lancers - 3x Kroxigor (which can alternatively be built as 3x Kroxigor Warspawned) - 3x Terrawings - 10x Saurus Warriors - 10x Hunters of Huanchi Which technically gives you 2x warbands (hunters of huanchi and seraphon). All of it can be used in Warcry including the Slaan and heroes from the Lancers/Saurus so it's a pretty good box if you wanted all of the seraphon 'good stuff' in one place.
Great idea and nice video! As an aside, I think it’s funny that your hypothetical convert doesn’t want to play big AOS because it’s so much hobby. I can paint all day, but I don’t really play much big AOS because I can’t sit there for 3 hours and stop my brain turning to soup 😂

@@OffMetaMusings - Nice!! Thank you for this. Probably better to not get the original Warcry Box then, especially since $80 is the cheapest I can find!
Question, I'm building my first warband with Kruleboyz, and I wanted to know why you chose the Hakkas for the Gutrippaz. From what I gathered the spears are a better choice, but maybe it has changed since ?
It's a 2/3/1/4 on spears vs the 3/3/1/3 on hakkas. It doesn't really matter which build you choose as they both have merit to them; 2" range for more prohection vs a flat more damage thanks to the extra attack.

@@OffMetaMusingsawesome thanks mate. Will check it out 🎉

Thanks for doing this, I asked about the seraphon spearhead list the other day and you kindly gave a list. Thanks again!
My pleasure!

Does it work the other way round? Can you play spearhead just using Warcry sets?
And can you mix and match - can I play spearhead with a team consisting of maybe some Hunter of Hauchi chameleons, some Kroxigors and something like a Slann Starmaster unit?
I'm very new to WH btw

Is the Primordial Starhost box a better buy than the spearhead box when starting? What are the units in that box that can be played?
The starhost box comes with all of this;
- 1x Slann Starmaster
- 3x Aggradon Lancers

I hope you're ready for a "How to use your Skaventide Box for Warcry" video!
Whenever GW gets around to adding the new minis then ill be sure to do it XD
Hey! Can you show possible warbands for SCE and Skavens, made entirely and only from Skaventide box?
Two of the SCE and Skaven warbands I've listed are made from the Skaventide minis; you get both spearheads in the box as part of the minis.
Great stuff! Correct me if I’m wrong but the Dawnbringer boxes count for spearhead too don’t they?
I don't know if they've announced that
I do not believe you can make Chaos Warriors with 2 weapons from this box. Those are either sword+shield or halberd+shield
Doesn’t Daughters of Khaine have a Spearhead box, or maybe it came out after this video??

I am using vulkyn flame seekers instead of the standard models for my spearhead so I guess by definition I can also use them in warcry.
yep!
Great video! Small nitpick: it's Chainrasp, not Chainwrasp :D
hey man, i be wrasping over here!

I can't use my army in spearhead GW removed my dudes from the game.
obviously the answer then is to keep playing warcry :)
