Ejection 130 - Bryce Harper Ejected After Continued Complaint About Ramon De Jesus' Strike One Call

- Опубликовано: 12 авг 2021
- HP Umpire Ramon De Jesus ejected Phillies RF Bryce Harper following a period of prolonged complaining about a strike one call during Harper's 9th inning at-bat vs Cincinnati that resulted in a fly out. Report: www.closecalls...
I’m sorry, if you are ejected 15 times by 15 different umpires...I’m starting to think that it is a “you” problem
And we thought that Larry Bowa was a hothead.
This is definitely a "Bryce" problem. Total hothead, whiner, complainer.
He hasn't been that bad. I've seen worse. Not unless he argues to fire up his teammates.
@@christophercasey6775 Firing up your team is the job of the manager, not a player. Bryce Harper is a moron.
You’re behind 6-0 in the bottom of the ninth. Just get in there and hit.
Will he break Earl Weaver's record? He makes Billy Martin look diplomatic. I miss the old days big time.
Based on this video, it appears that Harper needs to learn the strike zone.
and how to shut the hell up
Doesn't he walk a lot! People hate Harper so much that they defend terrible umpires
@@jimlogan2516 People hate Harper because he's an egotistic crybaby
Good solid sample size there.
@@jimlogan2516 Where was the horrible umpire in this video? Harper is apparently somewhat brain damaged.
We all know Angel Hernandez is the worst umpire in the history of the galaxy. Harper has to be the biggest cry baby in baseball.
I used to coach a little HS baseball. One of the best pieces of advice I ever heard went like this: "Never let one pitch affect your at-bat, never let one at-bat affect your game." Harper needs to heed that advice.
Bryce Harper is the biggest crybaby in baseball.

Bryce needs to pick his battles....
Huh? Game was over not a bad time imo
@@bori1986 Except he was wrong which makes him look like an idiot.
So many 'bark" references here.
Vid editor chaps are slipping...
I wonder if these stupid *unts go back later, look at the video and call the umpire to apologize. The first pitch was a strike, the second pitch was a strike. How bout MLB looks at the tape and assigns a fine that means something to a multi-millionaire? $50,000 $100,00 Fines go up later in the game as well (when you are losing). It is just abuse.
As much money as he's making, Shut the Hell up!!! Not to mention, Do players think every damn pitch is going to go right down the middle??? SWING THE DAMN BAT!!!
This is great I love watching that cry baby get tossed. Almost every time he is crying about actual strikes.
I don't think I've seen a more annoying, biggest baby, overhyped, overpaid and overrated player in my lifetime.

I agree. He was calling the edge consistently all game, it's up to the players to adjust to that.
There was something off about that pitch.
Harper is a drama queen. Not worth the trouble.
Can you do a breakdown of the Ke’Bryan Hayes no call RLI vs the brewers?
A strike one call?!?! Grow up Bryce 😒
I can see getting irritated _if_ it was a bad call, which it wasn't. It changes the at-bat, and it may alter your approach -- becoming more defensive and prone to swinging at junk. But down 6-0 in the 9th? Just let it go. Or say, "That looked outside. Is that the corner?" or something like that. Then nod and go about your at-bat. Be a professional.
@@XXelpollodiabloXX that's what I mean. No point in the continued arguing
Pretty sure there's millions of fans at home watching Bryce Harper show up the ump, which would probably qualify as showing up the ump. Bryce Harper, tied for 98th in RBIs, not an ump's fault. Go sit down.

@@vincentriley5866 Yeah, my comment age well, did it
Harper is a poor sport. Always has been
100%
I think Girardi even knows Harper was wrong, considering the fact that he is not displaying much of a protest. De Jesus gave Harper a chance to vent, but Harper would not stop. De Jesus could have easily of ejected Harper right there since it was a balls and strikes dispute, but he wanted to be nice and let Harper have his say.
It is one of the OLDEST rules in baseball. You will find it in vintage baseball rulebooks from the late 1800s. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO ARGUE BALLS AND STRIKES WITH THE UMPIRE. PERIOD. If Bryce Harper wants to play baseball, and serve as a role model to little kids all over the country, he should shut his mouth and follow the rules. If not, he should quit the game. The guy gets paid millions thanks to this game, he OWES it to the game to shut up.
Oh nonsense.
An even older rule, is if you badger umpires too much, the pitcher get's the call in their favor.
Agreed! We need role models in sports, not crybabys!!

Harper and GIrardi may be the most annoying manager/player complaining combo in MLB today.
anything not within the up/down limits of the belt buckle is never a strike according to Harpie-poo. most prima donna jagoff i've ever seen in 60 yrs of watching baseball

Bryce likes to bully minority umpires
NL MVP 2021 🏆
Cause it's a really good idea to accuse white people of racism ALL THE TIME! It really helps race relations A LOT! Good job schmuck, keep making racism more and more real, keep dividing us, that's really really smart of you. And some of you wonder why white people have any issues with "minorities" these days. Look in the mirror, you all literally asking for a fight all the time. Shut up
I'm not surprised. He is a hot head. They need to make it to wear a player has to sit out one game upon an ejection. Maybe he'd just shut up and play.
Harper is a big crybaby, throwing a tantrum. Phillies need to get rid of this problem child. Actually should be suspended from baseball. That’s why the Nats got rid of him. Bad influence esp for younger players trying to play the right way.
Tuck in your necklaces, Bryce. Hippie!
Bryce has an ego and is a bully.
Harper is such a premaddona cry baby. Almost every at bat, he whines like a little girl. Its fun to watch.
More than all these umps are weak lmao. They love the so called power of being an Umpire.
All these people whining about Harper as if their star players don’t sometimes do the exact same thing, but because this is Harper of course they complain
15x
I watched Harper in DC for 6 years he is no star and he is a crybaby
Harper is brain damaged.
Realmuto swinging at the 0-1 pitch like he was trying to stay alive, only to fly out lazily.
Phillies announcers are homers
Getting thrown out while trailing 6 to 0 very late in the game is typical for Bryce. Lame.
He wanted to be tossed. No real chance of him doing anything else that game so he got the ump to send him to the locker room early
The ump calls a strike a strike and the cowardly "manager" and Harper continue to argue all due to Harper's failure at the plate with the lazy fly ball. Game is a joke.
Not showing him up? He should have been tossed when he said that was a ball.
Must always stand up to bully's ... that's the only way that they will ever respect you.
If you notice it looks like at 0:36 he shifts his Weight like he may toss him
The calls were fine. Hopefully these guys go look at the video afterwards.
Cue Jomboy:
“Was it a strike? I dunno, looks like it MIGHT have been. I’m sure there will be plenty of umpires in the comments telling me what that think.
Did Blue have to throw him? I mean it looks like he was just standing in the dugout minding his own business. Maybe this ump has a short fuse. Let me know in the comments. Use code Jomboy for two percent off your stupid baseball bat mug.”
2:40 ya go ahead and bring something up from 4 years ago shut up he’s a hofer and 2x mvp 7x all star
No one's taking that away from him. He isn't the first HoFer who was a hothead, and he won't be the last
So do these cry baby players and coaches go back and apologize to the umps when they look at the tape and see that it was a good call? Probably not
Grow up umpiring this year sucked all the way around
Bryce Harper has always been a punk ever since his one year stint in junior college.
Imo I think you could side with both people here cause harper is down 6-0 bottom of the ninth trying to battle for a hit and they call a ball a strike. But also harper argues a bit to much and just kept talking. So I can see both sides
Except it was a strike...computer said so...
What does this cost Harper?
Some ridiculously small fine. No other sport has the frequency of ejections like the MLB has and it will continue until there is real punishment for getting ejected.
Bryce is a good player, but with his attitude he's a disgrace to the game. I would never want him as a teammate or have him on my team if I was a manager. Maybe he should retire and become an umpire...then he'll shut up when he realizes that umpiring is not an easy job.
Belongs in Philly then
So is Harper actually doing anything to help his teammates.

I was at this game, 6 rows behind the Phillies dugout, and I assure you that NOBODY that was still in the ballpark (maybe a third of the crowd given the 6 run deficit and anemic offensive showing through 8) knew Harper was jawing at the ump. In fact, I didn't even realize Harper was ejected until I heard it on the post game radio show as I drove home.
Not that I disagree with ejecting Harper for this, but the Phillies announcer was right in this case.
I mean Harper is a good player but he complains a lot.

@@mckinleymac3452 So you can say it the way you wrote it but when I use "I mean" I am putting emphasis on what I am stating
Definition of I mean
1 -used to emphasize a statement e.g: He has to stop drinking. I mean, he's going to kill himself if he keeps it up. ...
Harper has always felt that he knew the zone better than everyone especially the umpires... Here's a novel approach to fixing these chronic ball/strike complainers.. .maybe MLB aught to arrange for these guys to come out to Phoenix in the offseason, work with some of the umpire trainers and work a few USSSA tournaments we have all winter long... get a taste of what its like to actually be an umpire... maybe then he'd stop his grousing... Of course it is Harper.. it'd probably just make him feel empowered that he really does know more than everyone...
Honestly, that might help in situations where the ump made a mistake...
But this wasn’t a mistake, this was a great pitch and called a strike correctly...
Homer announcers are the worst. "He's not showing the umpire up. Nobody knows he's talking to him." What does that have to do with anything? Time for roboannouncers.
100% i agree
Sorry not everybody is Joe buck.
@@totallykoolyeah Joe Buck sucks and should never be allowed near a baseball field.

Now batting....the most overrated and overpaid player in baseball ⚾, Bryce Harper
people call him overrated so much he’s actually underrated. he’s got a .981 OPS
It’s crazy how people think it’s about that one pitch out of the whole game that had mad about. They missed pitches the whole series behind the plate. And more than a few to Harper himself. So wouldn’t anyone be frustrated when your constantly behind when you shouldn’t be? I know I would be 🤷♂️
It was against the reds not Cleveland
Soon, we will serve our new robo-umpires and humans will no longer adjudicate the strike zone. Since we have the technology now...if a player or coach complains about ball/strike AND the pitch was called correctly? There needs to be a suspension AND a fine along with the ejection. Bryce Harper has absolutely ZERO baseball situational awareness here, too. Your team is up 6-0 in the 9th and you want to argue a pitch that was called correctly? The problem for the Phillies and every other team Bryce plays for is...it's always about Bryce, it's always been about Bryce and it's always going to be about Bryce. It's not about what the team can accomplish, it's about what Bryce can accomplish.
Hopefully the robots will have lasers too
@@FoxtasticGaming Guilty as charged...hey and thanks for being so classy about it too, Mr. Fox. Don't you go changin' now, bruh.
Harper's got an ump problem. His intensity may be a positive, etc., but it can't be made any secret that the Washington Nationals won a world championship after they got rid of him.
MLB has to sit Harper down and get him to settle down.
What is this ? Little league ?
Why? It does liven up an otherwise now boring sport, even if it is childish. Wait! Little Leaguers aren't that bad.

The ump in question has a rep for a fluctuating strike zone
Players don’t mind umps who call things off the strike zone as long as they’re consistent with it. This ump isn’t, and is all over the place
And certainly he understands he’s going to hear it from the hitters (and he doesn’t consider it bullying)

You’re way off base. Many ADHD athletes like Bryce Harper use lashing out like apt hat as a coping mechanism to be able to let go of soemth8ng and put it behind them. It greatly reduces the percent of negativity in the obsessive postmortem most ADHD athlete mentally go through after a game . I did it myself as a highly competitive soccer goalkeeper as well.
It’s simply a way to channel negativity outwardly rather than focus it inward.
To judge it beyond that means you know nothing about the many ways ADHD athletes cope with a far more emotional neurology than you have.
Don't come in here using ND as an excuse to bully people. That's how stigma with the spectrum starts. There are many coping mechanisms that don't involve demeaning other people.

So this is a Dr Phil moment?
Please.
@@totallykoolyeah nope Dr Phil is not qualified with respect to ASHD behavior since there really is no research except by sports psychologists who are about performance.. The great Steve Carlton took great stride to maintain flat emotions throughout a game. He never knew what the score was, he never knew who the hot hitter were coming to town, he wore earplugs to drown out the sound so the crowd noise would not influence the flow of performance, he would instantly go into his affirmations saying them out load to himself while walking back to the dugout, after a bad inning. …. He simply turn the game into advanced catch with the catcher where he gets the sign visualizes the ball going into the catchers mitt a certain way and let’s it fly. If you read Sports Psychologist Bob Rotella’s book, Your Fifteenth Club for golf, it mirrors everything Steve Carlton did 30 years prior.
