Top tip for any newbies like me; the large o-ring on the adaptor needs to slide all the way over the (cheese) nut then over the plastic lip. I had it the nut side of the lip first try and so it would not click in to the housing; DOH. Managed the clip after ten attempts by pushing the copper and sensor part back and wiggling the long side of clip into the right side first which then helped getting it down and in on the left side. Unfortunately the grey wire other side of connector popped out so given sensor had no power the boiler did not provide hot tap water; obviously the job of the sensor to prevent a burnout if no water, so stripped bit of the outer doubles it up and pushed it back in; et voila hot tap water once again. Thanks for the video.
Top bloke for sharing this, my cheese sensor like most completely turned to fondu. The only mistake I made was when I struggling to get the clip back in and realised that I was trying to fit 2 'O' rings between the flow turbine adapter and the flow sensor! Otherwise not too bad, the silicon grease helps to seat the adapter and there is a definite clunk when it's in place. Leak sorted and as per the commentary, the hot water seems to arrive faster at the tap due to the flow restrictor working properly.
Thanks for this video! We sprang a leak last weekend and it had got worse over the week. A friend shared a link to this video, I investigated and found that I had the same problem. £8 and a few days later my boiler is back in full operation with no leaks! Cheers!
Brilliant vid, I had the same problem, couldn't believe when I took it apart the flow restrictor housing was disintergrated (took out with minimal force) with half of it left behind in the tube, shocking quality, your video was very helpful, it's now working like a dream, they really need to make more of their parts from metal
Hi heating geek Keith again with Worcester 28cdi have now replaced diverter valve and everything seams fine took 3 hours . Dismantled the old valve to see what problem was.turned out to be one of the small cir-clips on the diaphragm, the inner one, had broken off allowing the weeker small spring to hold out the rod onto the micro switch.again I thank you for your reassurance, and a merry Christmas
Many thanks for this... i was able to order the part and sort out the leak i had with relative ease thanks to this excellent step by step vid. You sir are a Gent :)
excellent video, just done the repair after ordering the parts at a grand total of £11!! now I have spare spare o rings if anyone wants them!! Thanks man

Thanks mate..I usually avoid Worcester but it is a friend's boiler.. I was able to replace the adapter with confidence.. and you're right about the 'cheese' and need for a pick.. I enjoy your uploads and I'm learning all the time(33 years)😂
I have an older model, without the green plastic cover over the diverter valve motor, and when the flow sensor/flow restrictor leaks the water goes onto the motor/actuator. This meant that the diverter valve actuator wasn't operating, and resulted in no CH, luckily I managed to repair it by just pulling out the diverter valve motor, dismantling it and then lubricating the seized bearing with WD40, this cured the problem and saved £50 for a new motor :)
I usually just shake the crap out of them and they start to work straight away. I have had to replace a few though. Great engineering the green cap. ;-/
Alaways awkward ! That pin is a joke and why they didn’t re design that adaptor with brass is one reason I don’t fit Worcester unless I have to. I spoke to Worcester once and asked them why and there reason was cost ! To patch it up with the green rubber jacket over the diverter motor just says it all. Poor
Excellent video really helped and yep it solved the problem, I was a bit baffled as the inner fixed section does not look like and engineered finish, it looked like remnants of the broken part until I re-watched you video and saw yours was the same. Many thanks.

I cant really recommend a van stock as it depends what boilers you see. I see a lot of Vaillant and Worcesters so keep bits for them. Also I follow other engineers a lot so they will order parts for me to collect.
Hey, many thanks for this video. It helped diagnose the problem. Hopefully I will be able to get the part today amd fix the dripping water sorry to hear about your phone.
Great video…thanks so much for sharing. Really helped. Unfortunately in my case it was still leaking after the change? Im pretty sure ive done something wrong but not sure where. Seems like i did everything the same as this vid. Is it normal for the sensor pipe to be put back in with full force while trying to at the same time insert the clip back in. This part was a nightmare for me and just as long as the the rest of the job. Which is why i was even more gutted when the leake didnt stop. Repeated the process for good measure but still leaked. One thing i didnt need to do was undo the bottom nut of the sensor pipe….didnt need to as the top part pulled out with a little twist and turn. Any advice from anyone would be much appreciated.
Good job. Little tip, next time either remove the diverter valve or cover it up to stop it failing when water drips on it. Also before you pull out the adapter wd40 the adapter and move it from side to side working the wd40 in. Less likely to fall apart when you try and take it out. 👍🏻
Great Vid. Did one of those yesterday. Went in blind and guessed the manifold but no, will carry one of these in case now. Do prefer Baxi for repairing. so much space in the duos and new baxi 600 and 800's, Brass components rule.
I did my flow manifold 2 years ago. Was quoted 400 quid. I bough the part for 25 quid and did it in 2 hours. If I were doing them regularly then I'd get it done in 1 hour. Today another crappy plastic leak. Was quote 150 quid.Bought the part for 5 quid. I recon 20 min job. As long as I'm not breaking into the gas line and all I'm doing is isolating water and the job is obvious then I'm good to go. Of course if you are unsure then pay a professional to come out.
This part can be a pig. The clip can be a pain to get back in. Im sure I must mention it in the video. Remember you need to open up the combustion chamber to access anything so make sure you get it closed back up.
Hi mate, would you be able to tell me where i can get a new flow sensor pipe? I am wondering now if while i forced it out i bent it…which is why i had so much trouble putting it back in and its still leaking. Cant seem to find one online.
Hi great video thank you my question my boiler is constantly making water and discharge through the PRV valve which I have replaced it is not the filling loop the cold water mains inside the boiler has condensation and with a screwdriver I can here water flowing with hot tap off in the house boiler is a greenslave oil burner
Mains water is getting into the heating system somehow. Look for older filling loops left on the system. The condensation in the boiler points to the mains water continuously running through the boiler. This could be a manifold that has failed or the plate heat exchanger. I suggest you listen to these items. What is a green slave? Greenstar heatslave?
Hi mate got a question for u. Worcester greenstar 30i. Heating is fine but no hot water. I have diagnosed it as the diverter stuck in heating mode and or the dhw sensor. Any ideas or tips to confirm what the problem is? Thanks

another good vid mate , them retaining clips are nightmare little tip is you struggle with them file the tips at a slight angle as the go in better with a little tip have seen myself spend over an hour just on them clips usually when in a cupboard when boiler poor access
If you struggle to get that clip in there is a good chance the silencers are not fitted correctly in the adapter therefore the whole assembly is slightly proud which makes fitting the clip very difficult.
Worcester should include spare free flow sensor and return manifold and flow manifold included in the box when they send the boiler out from the factory.
Nemo Sala I found putting the longest side of the clip in the right hand side first a little then just open it a little to push the left down into its hole. Worked a treat the times I’ve changed this part. Sorry if I pushed in with a suggestion there.

Hi ! Gas engineer from Romania here , any videos of Immergas / Ariston / Ferroli classic or condensing boilers ? Thanks and have a great day ! I can share things i've fixed during the 5 years of boiler service , if needed.
is there an o ring at the front ????, as I have put one on and cannot get the clip back in as there is no room for the pin to go through, also I have tried with out but it just leeks
So there is supposed to be an o ring at the front where it meets the plate? I wonder why the adapter only comes with 2 o rings in the pack? Looks like I'll be going back 😂
The 1 i worked on had an extra o ring at the front of the turbine adaptor where it joins to the plate hex. Also the flow restrictors were missing. I'm guessing with the restrictors missing then it shortens the overall length of the flow turbine slightly and previous engineer had tried to compensate. Thanks
To do it you have to open the combustion chamber so I cant help you. Its not a job you should attempt yourself. Please get someone to do it for you. Even qualified engineers struggle with replacing this part as it can be very difficult.
Mate my screen on my iPhone is shagged again too ! Had the phone just over a year aswell this will be 3rd cannot be arsed to keep changing them now ! Always use it a a torch and end up dropping it. Can’t they make a screen that won’t break !
They can but that would be like making a boiler that didn't leak!!! No jobs for us and Worcester wouldn't sell any flow adaptors. (Vaillant wouldn't sell diverters etc etc).
Very true. whether Worcester designed that part to fail I don’t know. Ecotec diverters like wise At the price it sells for I wouldn’t think it would be worth tarnishing reputation for something that is so cheap cost wise. Then again high volumes of failures even at 2 quid profit is still good business for them. Flow adaptors that is.
Heat Service bwc uk Yeah its pretty bad really. You think they would update stuff and move the issue onto other bits. (Vaillant). The diverter has leaked since 2004 and still leeks alll the time.
Why is the first comment always I hate Worcester. I've never had any issue that I couldn't easily fix on a Worcester you guys just got to do the training. Piece of cake when you know how
Hi have turned stopcock off diverter valve still pressing against micro switch when taps turned on boiler lights and hot water is there, central heating has now gone . I need to turn boiler off at mains electric each time I use hot water cus heating pump gets really hot 🥵 even when boiler not fired.another mystery. Have had local plumber round had he’s sure it’s the diverter valve. Thanks
If its still out when the stopcock is off then its the diverter. The pump is getting red hot because its running forever (because of the diverter). Good luck hope it goes well.
HeatingGeek hi thanks for your reply I have ordered a diverter valve but at same time its nice to have reassurance of a professional I will fit it when I get it.i did it about 2years ago but only replaced the diaphragm so I am hoping it will come apart a bit easier thanks again

Have just fitted mixer taps in kitchen and have Worcester 28cdi boiler now diverter valve is constantly pushing against micro switch carnt understand why have bled system and even isolated the new taps but problem still remains anybody any ideas Thanks
If you turn the stopcock off to the house does it go back in?? Is the hot pipe under the boiler hot? If so you could have caused a leak under the floor or something. Let me know.
hate that metal retaining clip with a passion..I always fit a green cover onto the stepper motor it has a slope on it to let the water run off!!! pure quality
HeatingGeek I stand corrected I fitted a service kit to a baxi 80he instant diverter section/bypass onto the vessel today it was has to be the worst design ever
i would strongly advise anyone who fits Worcester boilers to fit a shock arrester on the mains inlet to reduce problems with poor quality manifolds and flow reducers .
Those Wooshitter Botch boilers and their cheap plastic parts. But, the boilers aren't cheap to buy - much more than other better boilers. The customers always say "Which Magazine always rates them highly". Hmm. Thanks for another excellent one, HG.

is there an o ring at the front ????, as I have put one on and cannot get the clip back in as there is no room for the pin to go through, also I have tried with out but it just leeks
Yes there is. Have you made sure all the old one is out? The front clip is a pig to get back in. :-) I couldn't get it in on camera. Its tough. :-)
So there is supposed to be an o ring at the front where it meets the plate? I wonder why the adapter only comes with 2 o rings in the pack? Looks like I'll be going back 😂
@@rw3095 Yes one behind the nut and one on the back. It is very difficult to get the clip back in after the parts go back together. :-)
The 1 i worked on had an extra o ring at the front of the turbine adaptor where it joins to the plate hex. Also the flow restrictors were missing. I'm guessing with the restrictors missing then it shortens the overall length of the flow turbine slightly and previous engineer had tried to compensate. Thanks
Great video - thanks :)
Thanks. :-)
Love how you refer to the cheap German plastic as cheese 😄
Its yummy ;-)
do I have to isolate the loop fill and house stop cock for this job as I'm willing to give it a go ?
To do it you have to open the combustion chamber so I cant help you. Its not a job you should attempt yourself. Please get someone to do it for you. Even qualified engineers struggle with replacing this part as it can be very difficult.
hi how much would you charge for this job....
I charge a fixed fee for labour for any repair.£150 plus parts. So the total cost would be 170
Mate my screen on my iPhone is shagged again too !
@@HeatingGeek have you tried any of the non-Vaillant repair kits for the ecotec diverter valves yet ?
@@paulkramer2599 Yes I have. I have a video coming soon about them. I done the filming before Christmas........
👊😎 great vid!
Thanks for watching it. :-)
Why is the first comment always I hate Worcester. I've never had any issue that I couldn't easily fix on a Worcester you guys just got to do the training. Piece of cake when you know how
All boilers are easy once you have done them a few times. Worcester are sharp and cut your hands to bits if you're not careful. :-)
Have now subscribed to your channel 👍
@@keithmatthews9043 good luck. They can be a pig!!
@@keithmatthews9043 Thanks. You know these comments are on a video of a Greenstar. I guess your talking about a CDi RSF. Im sure thats where we started talking!!!
A good lesson about cheese boiler
Have just fitted mixer taps in kitchen and have Worcester 28cdi boiler now diverter valve is constantly pushing against micro switch carnt understand why have bled system and even isolated the new taps but problem still remains anybody any ideas Thanks
If you turn the stopcock off to the house does it go back in?? Is the hot pipe under the boiler hot? If so you could have caused a leak under the floor or something. Let me know.
hate that metal retaining clip with a passion..I always fit a green cover onto the stepper motor it has a slope on it to let the water run off!!! pure quality
Its like they know its a problem. ;-)
HeatingGeek I stand corrected I fitted a service kit to a baxi 80he instant diverter section/bypass onto the vessel today it was has to be the worst design ever
Darren Hooper. The one with the two pipes onto the vessel?
I cant ever remember doing one. Probably blocked it out!!!
i would strongly advise anyone who fits Worcester boilers to fit a shock arrester on the mains inlet to reduce problems with poor quality manifolds and flow reducers .
Or fit a Vaillant that don't seem to have the poor plastic issue.
Hiya Pete... just randomly spotted you hear! 😄
Where's the pink rag? Great video. £3 for parts, outstanding.
Pink rag was there Im sure. Just a cameo for it on this one. Easy job this. except the clip.
How do we know it's The flow sensor leaking
It's not usually the flow sensor. Usually the flow adaptor behind the sensor.
@@HeatingGeek ok will write that down
Just done one today , £5.41 from Parts Center
Thats too expensive. :-)
Had 2 of these in 2 days 😂
Great vidoe especially the cheese
Mmmmmmm Cheeeeese.
You legend. Never would of guess that fucking o ring goes behind the thread !!!
The clip is a pain... can’t seem to get it in properly ..
Yes, it is. Has to go at a slight angle to get it in. ;-0
Sweet. 😇
Thanks. :-)
Those Wooshitter Botch boilers and their cheap plastic parts. But, the boilers aren't cheap to buy - much more than other better boilers. The customers always say "Which Magazine always rates them highly". Hmm. Thanks for another excellent one, HG.
Thanks :-)
That Bin was nearly Big enough to throw all that heap of crap straight in there
Yep. LOL
Customer over reaction.
I need one of those in USA, and it costs $310. I might just get an electric water heater.
Can't get the clip back on and that why im here grrrr
Its on by now I hope. :-) Let me know
The new cheese is there 😂 quality
As have same boiler and everything day large amount of water leaks out in one gush not condense trap I am a gas engineer also but not as skilled as you
Do you have to top up the pressure? Where does it look like it coming from?
@@HeatingGeek the pressure is always low but it still cool works even after I top it up it goes down in a few days not sure where coming from havnt checked to be honest to busy doing everyone else boilers 😁
@@mickelsmickle8668 Maybe the vessel leaks at the seam or the PRV isnt in the slip joint correctly. :-)

Overpriced plastic shite. great vid!
I see you are enlightened. :-)
Still can't believe Worcester will not take credit for the bad engineering. Haha
Never!!!
Dont you just love that German cheese!!!
Mmmm the worst kind.
Lol hairy German cheese 😂 you love it Martin 😂
Just paid £140 and feel ive been add off... Gutted I never seen this before hand....
Why? Thats fair money.
