Have I really been watching you for 3 years! OMG, how time flies when your having fun watching people work very hard. And more fun to see the final results of all that hard labor. Your vision is truly magical. I will keep watching as long as you guys are on youtube.
Greetings from Canada! This is absolutely beautiful! Beyond beautiful actually! I'm looking forward to seeing the other reveals as they become completed. Great job guys! You have a beautiful home for generations to come.
I grew up in Waldron, Indiana, and I am so thrilled to see somebody do something with that old school building! I remember seeing changes when we drove by a few years ago. I will soon be moving back to Kentucky, but in the back of my mind, I will always be delighted that you got that building and did something amazing with it. God bless you!
I have to admit, y'all had me in the first half. I thought, "What in the raised in Indiana, grew up in NYC are these two doing?" It turned out so well. I am obsessed with the attention to every. single. detail. Gorgeous!
I'm always so thrilled to see your video posts pop up with more school house updates! Your kitchen is beyond amazing with all of its special bits and pieces. I especially love that your cabinets are not all one color and how you repurposed so many items to both create and decorate this room. The kitchen is truly the heart of most homes and your kitchen is laid out so perfectly, even with a lounge area to be included and walking out onto a magnificent party deck! Your cookbook collection is amazing ... I love how you have created memories and diaries out of them! Your pottery talent is spectacular too ... both with your pottery ware pieces and then that school house replica... WOW!!!
Has it been 3yrs? I remember your 1st video & thinking "that looks like the Johnson County courthouse". Glad I watch it. Love what ya done with the place...
All those years I spent watching "This Old House" have prepared me to acknowledge the amount of work you've put in. But here you are, doing most of the work yourselves - with video to prove it! I love how you've customized / personalized the space, requiring meticulous research and follow-through, while raising two little ones. ❤️ You're doing an all-around fabulous job! 😊
Thank you so much!! Big This Old House folks over here too- always would watch with my dad. And I wonder where the desire for an old quirky house comes from 😂
My dad was a carpenter and worked with wormy chestnut a lot. He has been gone since 2008 and I miss him very much. This made me remember him doing so many beautiful pieces with chestnut, sycamore and sassafras wood. Everyone usually goes right to oak for their kitchens, but I love the uniqueness you've put into your home!
With every video I love your schoolhouse even more! Your kitchen is phenomenal! The muted "blackboard" backsplash tile and the exposed brick walls are my two favs! :) I know this has been and continues to be a lot of hard work...but what a reward to be so hands on in restoring this schoolhouse as you make it your home!
I have been a fan of home renovations/conversions for decades. I can honestly say this has to be the most beautiful project that I have ever seen come together. I feel like I have achieved or reached the mountaintop and looking down on this glorious piece of work, in awe of its glory.
Wow! Amazing work and vision executed. The joy of the children, staff, family and friends makes every effort meaningful even the more. Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Blessings ❤️🙏🏼
The ability to take a large space and make it feel cozy is a gift. Between you and the designer, you did a beautiful job of creating a place where people will want to dwell.
I love all the beautiful afternoon/late day sun that pours into your kitchen. 😎Your pottery collection is quite enviable! A pottery studio in your basement would be great!! 😊👍
the amount of work and thought put into this project blows me away. the sheer number of decisions you have made to get to this point is overwhelming. hats off to you both.
I’ve followed your schoolhouse to home journey and have really enjoyed it. I love how you have held its history’s significance throughout in the details like the chalkboard style backsplash in the kitchen etc. I also appreciated in this video of how you shared your cookbook collection. I too am one who understands the desire to collect them. Thank you for sharing how you mark dates in them along with comments with marked favorites. I plan to start doing the same. 😊
I am so proud of you and amazed at what you've done. You have preserved and respected history. I hope to visit you someday and experience the old schoolhouse myself. I want to give you a hug and thank you. You have truly made a difference in this world. ❤
Fabulous!!!! it is all fabulous. The historic touches make me weepy. I am a nutjob over old wooden library and school furniture. The backsplash does exactly what you were trying for and also gives blue tones. Your pottery is Beautiful, as is your friend's.
This is so funny, I was watching the video without sound and with subtitles on.. and when the chairs came up I thought gee this looks like a typical slovenian primary school! 😃 I had to go back and watch again - wow those chairs made quite a trip! Hello from Slovenia ✌☺
Wow! What an amazing transformation to such a unique and special building! Looking forward to watching as you are on the home stretch and all the way across the finish line- especially the outdoor deck and and yard. Plant some trees too!
I absolutely love the kitchen, you guys did an amazing job keeping with the old school house vibe and it reminds me of the chemistry lab in my high school. I envy your artistic vision as you restore this gem
So many buildings in Indiana are just vacant, desolate remnants of our past. It gives me such joy to see your home and how you've resurrected a magnificent structure. Welcome home! Happy Thanksgiving!
This is very satiating. May you experience many years of bliss in your fabulously repurposed home! Thank you for documenting this journey for us to see
I love the chairs area of your kitchen! Like coffee in the mornings, story-time for the kids, and like a place to leave hubbies when your shopping. LOL Cute!
I am in awe of your hard work, creativity and to say job well done is an understatement. Your kids will have so much fun growing up in that home with so much space to play and run around in❤ love all the historical treasures connected to the school it once was
Everything about this project is turning out so amazing!! I'm sure the window trim story is very frustrating and aggravating, but those things seem to be inevitable when it comes to building a house. Honestly, you know it's there, but the rest of the room is so stunning, it's really pretty easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Your corner looks really good the way you did it. If it's worth the expense, how about recovering what you have there to be more coordinated color wise and roll with it. The age of it all looks pretty appropriate to the rest of the school, and seems like it blends in pretty well. It also looks like a pretty cozy place to hang out in the kitchen. Thanks for another fantastic update!! It's truly stunning and amazing what you've been able to do with an old school and a lab coat! BTW, your physician husband is way better with power tools then mine!! Ours usually end up as 911 episodes!! 🤕
What a great use of the space! The sheer size of the island seems almost daunting, but then to see the shots of make your own pizza night (❤) and the potential as a sideboard really brings it home. The beam supports for the island paired with the dark granite remind me of science lab tables which is just another nod to the schoolhouse esthetic. Thoughtful details, usable work zones, and respect for the history of the space have all come together to make a wonderful gathering space in your home. Can’t wait see more!
We bought our house 18 years ago. The kitchen had been redone for selling purposes, all IKEA cabinets. I was skeptical initially, but they’ve held up with no issues or deterioration of any kind. I’m converted and a believer! Especially with your approach of using upscale fronts.
thank you so much!! I'm really excited to share the Polywood stuff too- I walked away from visiting their factory being like wow this would be SUCH a cool job!
Should expand that little seating area for the kids. Bigger kid kitchen (maybe a little storefront with home grown herbs/starter indoor fruits garden) with seating for participants. They will use that kitchen for years (our soon to be 7 year old still uses his). And still on theme for the school.
There is a type of furniture design that is often used in corners of high-end lofts & school libraries. RESEARCH "scandinavian bent plywood hanging chairs". It's sleek modern curved wooden chair looks stunning in sets of two hanging from high ceilings, with a few throw pillows!❤ I would install a t.v on the empty wall for kiddos or superbowl parties too!
It’s beautiful; really appreciate the details and nostalgia. Merely from a viewer’s POV, it feels like the school is awaking from a long sleep and embracing your family.
I'm always amazed at the transformation of the school into your home. What a remarkable job you and your team have done. I love what you do with cookbooks. I can't wait to hear the story of the windows and of course, to see the garage rooftop.
It looks really amazing and your hard work has certainly paid off. How about a leather corner sofa that comes out into the room which would create a room within a room, then another armchair by the door, maybe just re-cover the one you have?. This means you could sit and look out onto the patio as well.
Your sweet boy: "...not yet." LOVE that!! That kitchen table with the chairs is still one of my favorite things in the house. Honestly though, it's the floors and the doors that do it -- WOW!!! Such a labor of love, and it shows! I mentioned The Morton School (#29) in a recent school assignment. SO fun to incorporate something I learned about from this channel in my "real life." Adaptive Reuse for the win!!... and hopefully the A! ;)
Wow! What amazing tradesmen you found to turn your dream into a reality. At first I wondered how you would fill such a cavernous kitchen, but you did it and it looks amazing. Love how you repurpose items and continue with the “school house theme”. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
❤❤❤ AMAZING!!! Looks absolutely wonderful. Love that you have used such a mix of upcycled and new, you must be very proud of all the hard work everyone has put in, but especially yourselves x
I'm really enjoying your renovation videos. You make us look at things from a different perspective, and so things in a kinder way to the environment. ❤
I love all that you are doing such an intentional job of including historic details into your schoolhouse home. It is so cool seeing it all come together! I would add a cool potbelly stove or some type of old-fashioned fireplace that is more free standing in that lounge corner.
I have a question? Did you ever feel like giving up? Such a large project is so overwhelming, what you have done is spectacular, GOD bless you and your family ❤
Been with you a short time, however with cocktails in hand, I managed to binge watch ALL your vlogs that I could find. Such a beautiful and intriguing journey. Looking forward to more videos, maybe two a month????
Have I really been watching you for 3 years! OMG, how time flies when your having fun watching people work very hard. And more fun to see the final results of all that hard labor. Your vision is truly magical. I will keep watching as long as you guys are on youtube.
ah thank you so much!! (And for sticking around for so long!)
Your son is so smart. It feels like "hardware" and he doesn't know how to put in on..." no, not yet." Brilliant and honest. 😊
Wowza…The transformation is mind boggling! The space is airy and beautiful! I must say I’ve never seen a toddler so excited about hardware.😂
He's a little nut, that's for sure. I could have a package of bolts and he'd be excited lol
Love it all! But that island.. wow... that's incredible.
That island stressed me out for a full year trying to figure out how we were going to finish it. 😅
Like the editing . The patience you all have and the willingness to take on such an epic cool makeover is inspiring.
thank you so much!!
Amazing kitchen. All your hard work has paid off.
thank you so much!!
Great job on the kitchen - I really love it! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the seating corner! 😉💯🙏
You guys have done a fabulous job on the kitchen. Can’t wait to see more 😊
Greetings from Canada! This is absolutely beautiful! Beyond beautiful actually! I'm looking forward to seeing the other reveals as they become completed. Great job guys! You have a beautiful home for generations to come.
I love the frosted glass cabinet doors .I think that a corner nook would look nice with a L shape seating area and a table put in the middle of it .
Oh my god it’s STUNNING! What an amazing place you have created for your beautiful family.
thank you so much!!
"No.....not yet...." You have your hands full, Momma, and the journey is going to be AMAZING!!!!!
I grew up in Waldron, Indiana, and I am so thrilled to see somebody do something with that old school building! I remember seeing changes when we drove by a few years ago. It’s honestly incredible how you’ve taken your vision and made something so beautiful!
Thank you so much!!
Incredible vision you had to bring this old school house into a beautiful new home!
thank you!!
I have to admit, y'all had me in the first half. I thought, "What in the raised in Indiana, grew up in NYC are these two doing?" It turned out so well. I am obsessed with the attention to every. single. detail. Gorgeous!
This transformation is incredible!!...who knew that an old brick school could become so cozy, inviting and just beautiful!! 😊
So inspiring! It’s a gorgeous space. Thanks for sharing.
So excited to see the complete kitchen transformation!
thank you!! One room at a time. 😅
Thoroughly enjoyed watching the progress of your old school house being turned into a home. Looking forward to seeing more updates!
Do you know how to install it? No not yet. He speaks for all of us.
lol toddlers make you crazy but they are very funny
I've been having so much fun watching you turn the school into your home. Thank you for bringing us along!
I love how you are incorporating the kids' play areas into the rooms. That's a sign of really good human beings.
Just absolutely beautiful. Love your taste and style. Pottery school house you made is AWESOME. You are so talented!
I have loved watching the progress of turning this schoolhouse in to your home. A lot of work, it is a beautiful kitchen.
Wow the place is looking amazing... Thx for bringing us along...

I have no idea where you get the energy! I can't believe how invested I am in your progress.
What an incredible journey and gorgeous results!!!
I adore the handmade persimmon and pawpaw plates!
I kept saying while watchig "I just love this so much!!" Especially the glass in the kitchen cabinet doors.
I love all the beautiful afternoon/late day sun that pours into your kitchen. 😎Your pottery collection is quite enviable! A pottery studio in your basement would be great!! 😊👍
Extraordinary! I love everything. Each detail is so special. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home so well done and bravo!!
Truly &Ave put all your love into this home for your family.
love the transformation, love the space not a fan of 3 colors of cabinets, but still impressive
This is truly amazing! Every detail. Just fantastic. We live less than an hour from that area, and have driven by that school house. Just incredible!

I designed a tri-color kitchen in our 1890's home we renovated in Illinois. I loved it!!!

Absolutely love how you reuse and re purpose. The hard work and I'm sure aggravation will be so worth it. Keep posting!!
Completely satisfying video. Everything is beautiful. This obviously feels SO much different than a NY apartment!
Thank you so much!

At 10:05 when the floor is being finished, that brought back memories. The fumes must have been horrible for weeks! The finished product looks great.
I really enjoyed your tour. What a wonderful space. It will accommodate your family for years and years! Enjoy

thank you so much!!
Absolutely stunning! There’s not a single design choice I don’t love.
So amazing, beautiful kitchen.☕️🫖☕️
Your kitchen is beautiful!!!! Your upcoming Polywood video should be good. I'd love to have some of that out on my covered deck.

You could hang those pretty plates as an art grouping.
I love what you have done! I really enjoy seeing your progress. Thanks for sharing!!
What a blessing your family has been to this place. Nice to “visit” with a fellow Hoosier. I’ve loved this series and look forward to seeing more!

It's so awesome to finally see your beautiful home come together. It is absolutely stunning. Can't wait for the rest. Thanks, as always, for sharing.
little dabs of felt on the bottom of the chairs will help them slide better and save the floors.
Stunning!
That corner of the kitchen with comfortable chairs is perfect, but a couple of floor lamps for mood lighting would make it very comfortable for me.
Been with you a short time, however with cocktails in hand, I managed to binge watch ALL your vlogs that I could find. Such a beautiful and intriguing journey. Looking forward to more videos, maybe two a month????
Looks wonderful. So great to see the three year transformation.
