    This is the first demo I've seen where the tester really goes after the glass and isn't being gentle with it.

    i like this particular video because in most safety glass demonstrations the demonstrator tends to be wary of cocking up and easily breaking their companys glass, whereas this man really has faith in his product and conducted this to the viewer

    Good demo! the point is that if a thief has to work that hard its not worth it to stick around after the second or third try- Its 100% better that having no window film- So whats the problem? BTW smash and grab is a 1-2 punch, what makes it profitable to thieves is that is done quickly! its not a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 punch that equals a boxing mach and hand cuffs- Good video don't mind the haters!

    Its a safety film. Its not designed to stop a army. its designed to slow you down. If you want to stop a army then get the appropriate glass. once someone hits the glass with or without the film, its trash in a commercial setting regardless.

    The point here is that nobody is going to walk up with a brick and smash your window out and be inside in 3 seconds. They will need tools, and will have to do work.

    First is tempered glass second is laminated glass which has a film between two layers of glass to prevent breaking. Not a fair comparison.

    Best security though in my opinion is Noise, as that is something that thieves hate for some reason. There is nothing worse to a thief than to walk into a Back yard and hearing a 120 DB sound of a Rottweiler barking down their ass. You swear they will never come back. This was installed by me on a person who wanted to have the "Beware of Dog" sign on their gate but still a thief came in. After the 120 DB Rottweiler Noise was installed NO ONE EVER came back . In 10 years no one ever attempted to come back. It's really a simple system I made using one of those automatic lights and left a non working light ( on purpose for looks) and wired the sensor to an automated talk box LOL. Anyone who trips the light will be in for a surprise. Also added some fake dog poop for kicks.
    I also made another system but used inside the house and it is very similar, however it turns on the lights randomly and it runs a dialog recorded by the home owners talking about mundane crap. I took some Microphones to their house and recorded their dialog there. I placed about 4 mics around the house and had them read a scripted conversation and had them walk around so that the mics picked up distances between them. After mixing the tracks that main track was put into a small talk box. This was for someone who was not home often so they needed it look like someone was home.
    This idea was not mine but came from the Home Alone movie ( Go figure)

      It was a custom amp ( small amp) attached to the talkbox and some cheap relay switch so that the amp only turns on when needed for the noise. I used Silicon Rectifier Diode to harshen the barking noise ( like when dogs salivate with barking).

      It's not hard but not easy, I don't know any theory ( school work) on electronics, just what I can do with my hands and google ( Google helps a lot). . The system for dog barking I put in our backyard is running into 2 rock Speakers coming off a small amp . They look like rocks but are actually speakers, and I used a sound piece from the Bram stokers dracula movie where the white wolf is going to bite Mina and Gary Oldman calls the wolf to stand down .Since the speakers are actually inside a foam rock shape so non one knows were the sound is coming from so it's pretty scary at night and during the day you can run your iphone or mp3 player through the system and hear it through the rocks speakers as well. My dad thought it was a stupid idea until the cat's started screaming when they set off the alarm LOL. Still nothing beats the talking house system I set up for a neighbour. ( Okay credit to Home alone)

    Great product - but not insurance approved in the UK, so we have to install security shutters on exposed glass while the commercial premises are unoccupied. However I can see many uses for this in Schools, Shopping Centres and even iPhone / Smart Phone users.... !

    Notice the first demo uses tempered glass, and the second demo uses laminated glass with the film. This is a very misleading demonstration as laminated glass is already much, much stronger than tempered glass.

    This video makes no sense. If you're going to test the center punch on glass without film you should test the window with film using the center punch. Using 2 test methods doesnt prove anything.

      Because that wouldn't do anything but break the glass. The film stops the glass from falling out. So the center punch isn't needed if you are going to hit it with a bat

    After the glass is cracked, what's to keep a (smarter) thief from just taking out his pocket knife and cutting the film?

      lsw Film is double layered. You would have to cut the exterior film, extract the glass, and then cut the interior film. All while being completely visible to anybody passing by on the street, definitely not something you want to take the time to do if you're a thief.

    good vid! how thick is the film and is it installed on both sides? This is the next thing I want on my house. to all those knocking this vid, the film is designed to delay entry, not prevent it. without the film, as this video shows, you have 3 seconds for perp to enter. with film, its around 1 minute to even breach a hole, let alone get your body through it. Coupled with reinforced doors and locks that can be unlocked through the hole that was made, you have a good 2-3 minutes easy. The way I have my set up, within 30 seconds Ill be laying prone in my house with my AR trained on the fatal funnel you will be entering after you finally break through the glass. See you on the other side, baby! :)

      I can't help but wonder what the glass treatment costs. It might be better getting hurricane or bullet proof glass instead. I like your thought about how it will delay someone- enough so that a glass sensor can trip an alarm. I wouldn't think a thief would enter a house with an alarm already sounding. ?

    The glass was ruined after the 1st hit. You still have to buy new glass and pay for all of the films AGAIN. Plus, if it doesn't have an approval # for hurricane or security protection, your insurance company won't give you a rebate on your homeowners insurance

      The film is not designed to "save the glass". It is designed to delay/deter forced entry, and prevent injury resulting from broken glass. Plus, insurance will pay for the repairs.

      ShatterproofLLC I know what it is designed to do - I simply added the facts about the product that you omitted. Also, does this demonstration also include the perimeter frame clamping system or is it simply adhered to the face of the exposed glass only? I haven't seen any cost figures, either.

      We are not affilliated with this company and I don't want to hijack their video/comments, but it is a wet glaze attachment system. Usually Dow Corning 995 structural silicone which is made for this purpose. If you look closely you can see the black outline around the perimeter. It works very well.

      Homeowner here that has had a lot of breakins in the vicinity. One last week was a home invasion and the criminals had weapons. I can give two shits about my glass breaking. Money is replaceable. If it slows the perpetrator down and gives me time to defend myself that's a win-win

    Do i need tO installed oN both side? How about If the length Of the Security film less 5 cm than windows, such as window length 157 cm, film length 152 cm does it Will impact ?

    No, you misunderstand. They are comparing standard tempered glass with laminated glass that has their film applied to it. Laminated glass costs about 3 times more than tempered glass. Good quality laminated glass (car windshields for example) is already much harder to penetrate than tempered glass, so it is a stupid demonstration. For the cost of replacing your window with laminated glass (+ security film) it is much cheaper to buy window bars.

    Good demo video! However, 99% of the time they just through a rock at the glass during a "smash & grab" break-in. They don't expect the glass to hold together like that, let alone carry a baseball bat and a large crowbar down the sidewalk and risk getting that kind of attention from cops.

    Not sure you really understand the video or failed to read the notes? It's comparing the use of toughened safety (required by regulation in areas with public access) vs toughened safety glass with laminate applied... Not really misleading when that's exactly what is meant to be demonstrated... lol
