We had a similar problem. We got 2 barn cats, then installed a dog door for our Doberman’s so they could hang out outside at night as well. Took about 2 weeks then we started finding the body’s. The dogs hunted harder than the cats. Been rat free since
JD, you need to use your equipment. Sitting is the worst thing for it all. Mice moving in is just one of the issues that come up. Your poor mini excavator has to be a mouse condo by now.
They come in the side of the vent under the windshield then nest in the cabin air filter box. Haven’t had one go through into the truck though. Usually smell the issue before they get all the way through. Also check your engine air filter often, they like to nest in there as well.
I had a kangaroo rat move into my engine bay. I only seen just a tiny bit of droppings in my garage by a bag of dog food. Meanwhile he got into the airbox chewed through the air filter and he packed the turbo FULL of dog food. Not being on top of the situation started the truck and left for town. Before I hit my mail box less than a mile the check engine light was on truck was blowing tons of black smoke. Just over 6k later the new turbo was on. I hate rodents.
I am so sorry. We had an edge that encountered $20,000 worth of damage that we repaired and then 2 yrs later was totalled due to new rodent damage (Just a few months ago). My truck $5000 damage. they come in under the dash and often times through the interior air filter. You have to move that truck and park it in different locations so it doesn't become an opportunity. Best case is mice....they are so much easier to deal with. Rats are a NIGHTMARE! The wires are covered with soy and the seats are made with soy as well. The rodents leave during trails which will lead others in. Cover wires with metal cloth wraps. Spray with like Honda wire spray. Wash even where you can't see. My insurance said that once they find the car, it will keep happening...hopefully this was a one and done for you...hopefully. happy to chat if you wish...good luck
That's crazy how a rat got in the truck. When you find out how they got in take pictures and show the dealership and they can send the information to the head office and Ford can fix the problem

JD: "Come here ya lil' rat!!"
Rat: "Hang tight...I'll be right back"

You are 100% right.
Looking forward to where they are getting into the truck.

Soy based insulation on the wiring is a big reason why rodents are getting in vehicles. Going green is not always better.
You need to get some cats out there

Lol, welder gloves would not be enough for me! To be honest, I would have to bribe my wife to remove the traped rat out of the truck!!
ugh that sucks. that guy sure looked pretty big.
Get some barn cats

I got a mouse in the hvac vents of my 22 F350. Smelled horribly for 2 weeks.
Spray Lysol in the hvac intake which is the vent under the windshield on the outside, while running the system. Works great.
Cats ?
I think they have house cats, not barn cats.
@@dbsmithy they need Mouse Cats. Lol
