    nothing finer than making things grow from the earth to feed the people.
    farming & ranching under respected, under appreciated ,
    maybe one day these folks will get help instead of regulations that put them out of business
    loved it 👍

      Yep! Well, hopefully someday! I really have no idea if that'll ever happen, maybe, but I'm not holding my breath. Too much disconnect these days between consumers and producers, people don't realize the idealized utopia they've been sold is never going to be good for everyone, and rarely good for anyone, but it looks good on paper. Anywhooo... Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Being a native Iowan, I enjoy your videos. But I'm sorry, I do like regulations such as the Iowa Groundwater Protection Act, which help to ensure Iowa's agricultural heritage continues long into the future. Not all regs are bad.

    Nice shots. Kind of wish I would have bought a white planter for the nostalgia of it to go with my 1850 but happy with my Kinze I think

    • @burningdinosaurs
      @burningdinosaurs  4 года назад +1

      It would go great with an 1850. We used to plant with the 1950T originally, then dad moved it over to the 2-105. It's been a really good planter. Sure, there's been some repairs here and there, but for the most part the row units have been flawless. Kinze makes a good planter too! Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Nice! Dad's been notill since the mid-80s. I think there's some places where some subsoiling might help, but overall he's had less input costs and yields are still great. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Dad would like to get a corn planter someday, maybe a 6 row JD 7000 series. I'd like a white but its whatever, hes buying it. Nice to see more 2-105's on here 👌🏼

    • @burningdinosaurs
      @burningdinosaurs  4 года назад +2

      LOL! Yeah, someday my boys will be big enough dad and I can just have them load the planter! Yep, anhydrous was put on a week or so before he planted and he's been no-till since the 80s. I actually think he's got some ground that could benefit from some strip tilling, but doubtful he'd ever do it since he gets pretty good yields on it now. Thanks man! It's amazing how 70s and 80s equipment has become so old, isn't it!? lol. Time flies! When dad first got that tractor in the 80s, it was pretty fancy! Well, it's still running! But definitely not considered fancy anymore! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    That’s my favorite tractor of all time right there. My great uncle and cousins had one for hay and it did everything. Mowing, raking, tedding, baling, collecting bales. It kind of looked funny hauling a Tedder down the road😂

    • @burningdinosaurs
      @burningdinosaurs  4 года назад

      Dad's had this one since the 80s, lots of hours on it, but it's been a good tractor! It's pretty much his everything tractor these days too, except for the 1655 loader tractor. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      BurningDinosaurs heres a super controversial opinion: I prefer the Field boss tractors over the Oliver, because they’re just the natural evolution of them. They definitely had a better factory cab

    • @burningdinosaurs
      @burningdinosaurs  4 года назад +2

      They are! They're basically 1855/1955s with Perkins engines and one of the best cabs of the time! A great combination! I think lots of people have bad feeling about what White did to the Oliver corporation, but White did produce some pretty great tractors.

  • @FarmallFanatic

    • @burningdinosaurs
      @burningdinosaurs  4 года назад +2

      Yeah! Like I was saying to Ed, it's amazing how stuff seems like brand new but is 40 years old already! Time flies! Them 5100 series planters are getting pretty cheap these days, but yeah for the most part White planters seem to hold value pretty well. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @AJmx2702001

    Still Wished I could get basic planter like a white 5100 but now its all Precision based and I am not impressed with it so I Am sticking with Kinze but Agco is pumping me to Look at the New Fendt Momentum Planter soon so it might be on the farm for 21 if they let me try before buy

    How many hours on the 2-105? That T6.354 Perkins will go a long time.

    • @burningdinosaurs
      @burningdinosaurs  4 года назад

      Yeah, Perkins makes great engines... if you leave them alone and don't try to turn them up or anything. I have no idea how many hours, I'd guess it's pushing 16,000-18,000 off hand. Seems like 20 years ago it was turning over 10,000, and while its use has gone down, I'd still bet it's quite a bit. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Um, that's new equipment BD!!
    Our newest tractor is an '86, our JD 8200 grain drill is mid '70s..
    Cultipacker, big disc, hay mower and balers are the only newer stuff 😂🤣 and I'm trying to buy our old Case 2670 back.. I think it's a '79??? Wish I had it right now, it would be discing..

    How many acres?? Love the old tractor engines, such a distinct sound.

    • @burningdinosaurs
      @burningdinosaurs  4 года назад

      White 2-105 has a Perkins Turbocharged 6-354.4 (354CID) rated at 105 PTO HP, so probably about 120ish at the crank. He planted about 120ish acres in those 2 days I filmed. I agree, the Perkins has a sound of its own. Growing up with dad having a tractor shop, I started to be able to tell the different tractor engines coming down the road, IH, Case, Farmall, JD, Oliver, White, we had them all in the shop at some point. Good times. Thanks for watching and commenting!
