You should be! You have a great setup there and great fans! Everyone seemed delighted to be there Tuesday night and to have a club like Frankfurt in their home.
We have some of the best training facilities in the US. It is better than many MLS training facilities. Louisville has a bid to host a national team in 2026
I saw a similar response when FC Kaiserslautern came to Louisville last year. Many Kaiserslautern fans came to Louisville for the friendly. That's a great video Tom. I was up in Dayton and I entertained the thought of coming down for the game and I would have if I didn't see the friendly last year....
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I heard some folks talking about the Kaiserslautern game but Frankfurt is definitely a big fish. It really was a good experience and a FANTASTIC stadium!
@@SoccerZombieSTL Kaiserslautern has a bigger fanbase in the US and yeah ofc on the performance side frankfurt is the bigger club for now, but from fan experience and history and throphies kaiserslautern is head to head with frankfurt
Thanks! I made it to the North side too late to actually take advantage of the cheap beers so I wanted to get something that showed them off and your cans were perfect models lol
Why they came to louisville? 1. It’s a decently large town 2. is centrally located 3. big German population. 4. Lou city is a competitive team but not a threat to actually beat Frankfort. 5. World class training facility (will be hosting a World Cup team) 6. Fun stadium atmosphere
I was at this game. It really was one of the quieter games I've been to. Blow out in a friendly. It's expected. But during a regular season game, and especially during a rivalry or player off game, it can get LOUD.
Yeah it felt people were happy to see the spectacle but with it being a friendly and no stakes involved, I can definitely seeing it being quiet. But people were genuinely happy to be there and they weren't staring at their phones the whole time. Just a bit of a different vibe. I'll have to be back for a game with some stakes involved (Lexington next season maybe?)
@@SoccerZombieSTL As a season ticket holder, I'd recommend a game against one of our league rivals! The ones against Charleston Battery have been great recently. Lexington usually isn't as much of a threat
Also I have quite the scarf collection including the split scarf from this game, ours are $35, other USL clubs where I have been selling them for $25. From what I have seen our merchandise is definitely more expensive than other clubs at our level
It was a really good time and everyone had so much fun. It was such a surreal spectacle seeing a Bundesliga giant take on a USL Championship club. Like two worlds colliding lol
Loved this vlog mate. Just came back fromt eh states and caught an MLS game, and was really impressed by the whole experience. Your vlogs really inspire me to get back to the States and do a soccer roadtrip including the lower leagues. Thank you and keep it up!
I appreciate your feedback! I'm always curious how Brits view the American game (as you Brits were when I vlogged the game in your country a few months ago) so I'm glad we leave a good impression! It's not as easy to "groundshop" in America as it is in your country but it's still a fun time!
There's not many of us in the States, partly because traveling in this country is both lengthy and pricey. But hopefully we can get some more vloggers aboard!
I came late to STLFC but ever since I’ve had Louisville pencilled in as a place I had to go, thank you tom for confirming for me that it would, in fact, rock.
@SoccerZombieSTL the club is fantastic, the fanbase is fantastic and very friendly and as an international supporter the fans have made me feel apart of the loucity family.
as a Louisvillian our atmosphere is the best ive seen in second division i have season tickets and me and my dad go every week to games Lou city inspired me to go pro
So that's so awesome that you can share that with your dad! Me and my dad had season tickets to the St. Louis Rams growing up, and while my team got taken away from me, Stan kroenke can't take those memories with him to LA. I'll be back someday!
One thing you didn't mention that I feel is fairly underrated is how close fans can get to the players. For example the players enter and exit the field by crossing through the concourse which I feel like you just don't get at bigleague clubs. And win or loss the players always do a lap around the field signing autographs. If you wait by first row your guaranteed at the very least one autograph/picture. Same goes for Racing FC of the NWSL
I did get a shot of fans crowding around the walkway where the players entered but I didn't include that and other things just for a bit of brevity, but that's a very good point! Mario Gotze signed stuff and took selfies with fans after the match. My friend Jake got his shirt autographed and a selfie, too! x.com/stljakeh/status/1818553590304104553
I was at the game. The crowd was quiet. The crowd and supporter sections are typically not very vocal with chants for any game. We do have a great drum line though!
And like I said, I was on the other side of the drum line so maybe I just wasn't hearing it. But just because it wasn't loud doesn't mean it was a bad environment at all. Far from it!
Im sure the atmosphere would be better in a league game or us open cup. Especially in a local derby or playoffs etc. Friendlies always have subdued atmosphere
Lexington is getting a opening new stadium for their USL League One and Super League teams next month. Would love to see get out there when or if you can.
What did Patrick say about Frankfurt coming to Louisville? Something about Hertha Berlin buying somebody? I'm confused as to how Hertha have any connection to Frankfurt coming to Louisville. Clearly Patrick was enjoying our booze. 😂
Thanks man! Louisville needed this love and I’m proud to a season ticket holder of this great club!

Yeah Lexington is kind of crap but I was thinking since it's a derby it might be heated. Was thinking Charleston or Indy would be a good one to catch.

Also fun fact, they built the stadium to be modular so if they wanted to expand upward, they can!

If we ever get promo and relegation then we’d be promoted the first season
Easily! LouCity and Battery up, San Jose and New England down!
then after promotion we would be mid table
Can totally see that honestly
