i love this video. As i crochet, i wanted to crochet a planter holder for hanging plants.... i certainly didn't want to buy any. i used my RedHeart Yarn and just doubled strand to your one strand. i added a square cup coaster to assure my pot doesnt fall through when and if the wind blows. im in carolina and it can get a bit windy on my street.
i have 5 red plastic pots for 97 cent each, 5 Drawft Celosia (6 sections = $1.88) so thats 30 of them total.
thanx a million for this very easy and beautiful video.
its getn warm out and i like planting as well as crocheting when im not at work.

I'm so glad to have stumbled upon this video after coming up empty at the local chain stores for a couple of outdoor pots that lost their plastic hangers. I followed your instructions but had to make my lengths much longer using heavy cording we have in our stash of goodies. Worked like a charm. The plants are now hanging!! Accomplishment feels great!! Thanks!!

I grew making them at school. The indigenous population in Mexico is incredibly creative 😊. It was a popular school craft for Mother's day. Perfect gift! We made them with jute as the original. My hands were raw and bruised, but it was so much fun.
We highly value the contribution made by our indigenous groups.

Cute! These would look cute hanging in the trees above our outdoor dining space. I'm thinking I could put battery operated candles in them to make the space look extra fancy during our monthly gatherings. Also, Cinda has a great personality!

  • @freda45

Love this. I did lots of macrame 40 years ago. Lots of very fancy knotting, but I love the simplicity of your hanger. Your calculations for the length are brilliant. I put simple half hitches instead of beads to give it some interest. The simple design also uses less cord so it's really inexpensive. Rope and cording has gone up, up, and up, since I was doing it back in the 70s.

I’m new to this but I have some adorable little yogurt jars that beg to be painted with sea glass paint (or left plain) filled with succulents, small plant cuttings or just a sea shell collection. They would also look cute surrounded by a little macrame hanger. The bottom of the jar is flat so I hope that’s ok. Could also put a tea light in them and hang on a patio. Lots of ideas for these little guys & I’m anxious to try some.

I am working in the yard and repotting plants. I needed a quick plant hanger for the porch. I removed my shoes, went to my computer and googled "How to make a quick plant hanger from rope" your video was one of the 1st to come up. I watched it, wrote down the math and out the door I went. Plant hanger in 15 mins. And a "pretty to look at" to boot. AWESOME! I will be back for more ideals. :-)

I know this video is old, but just in case this happens to anyone else, you aren't measuring the "Length" (in geometric terms) of your pot initially; in order to get the correct starting "length" of string that will fit your pot, you need to measure the CIRCUMFERENCE (if round) or the AREA (if square-ish) of your plant pot since it is a 3D object--but you don't need to calculate it, just wrap your string around the widest part of the object you are using as your plant pot to get the right measurement you need. Now take THAT number x 2 + 24 inches. Otherwise, if you just measure the Length and not the circumference of your object, you'll end up with a teeny tiny little holder, but it will be adorable and you can use it for a different teeny tiny pot.

I’m totally lost in the whole math and cuttings , 0:44-1:00 , she is not even showing the rope cut and how did that happen. Beautiful piece however sadly unclear beginning rope cuttings.

I watched this video and made my own plant hanger within like 5 minutes afterwards. I made mine with the same length of rope but I have smaller pots so I was able to make it so it's one pot right above the other. I love how it turned out. Now I just need somewhere to hang it...

I'm early, allow me to make a joke:
Two guys are in the woods and one dies suddenly.
    The other calls an ambulance.
He says "l think my friend is dead, wat do?"
The person on the other end says
    "First, make sure he's dead"
    The operator hears two bangs.
The guy says, "ok, now wat"
ok sorry terrible joke I know plz don't kill meeeeeeeee

Yes I love macrame. This one looked so easy. I want to make a few. Your explanations will make it so easy to follow. Would also like to broaden my knowledge in knots a step up or two from this project.
    Thank you so much
