  • Transaxle is in place and the High Low shift works perfect. Next problem? What do we do about mounting this engine? Should we just cut the hood and get over it?

You inspired me to start and flip tractors and part them out and with all the tips that you showed it makes me successful so thanks a lot
Before I started watching you I dint know nothing about lawn tractors and now I flip them and part them out after school and do good money so thanks you very much I’m only 15 years old

I really wish I had your fabrication skills, I'm having the hardest time just trying to fit a V-twin Kohler in my John Deere that had an oppy Kohler, and here you are building a tractor around an engine and frame basically. Keep up the great work, love the builds.

Do not let the video magic fool you. I planned and measured this idea out for 3 months before doing this. Most of my side talk with you the viewer is ideas and problems I sorted out months ago off camera. I include it because I want you all to see the thought and process.

Use a GT6000/ GT5000 Hood for better Clearance!

    1. So Maybe Make a new set of brackets / connection point for the hood and raise it up maybe 4 to 6 inches so it clears the engine entirely. 2. Make a shaker/snorkel style hood scoop for it and let it poke out the top of the hood. 3. Run the exhaust down and back thru the frame and out the back with strighte pipe and no muffler. 4. Have fun with it. I really like both of your feeds.

Lol, i just got a new helmet and the same little welder. Works pretty good👍. Hood scoop for sure, and run the exhaust out the back, dont need that diesel exhaust in your face👍. Gonna be a cool machine🤘

I am going to do a video on the welder soon. Just a heads up they take burn in time to come up to full capability. Every one of the cheap welders I have owned does not come up to full power tell a solid 8 to 10 hours of use.

Thanks for letting me know buddy. I have only done really thin to maybe a 1/8 in steel with it so far. I have a 1/4 to 3/8 in pipe bumper for a 93 Bronco im gonna test it out on soon. I ran it for about 3 hours on my new project yesterday. Not a bad little welder so far👍🤞

I know I commented something similar in an earlier video, but what about a jack shaft. Then you could have a smaller pulley on the engine and a big pulley on the jack shaft. Or could you notch the frame and bring it out and make like a square on the side of the frame so you could get the belt on. Thanks for the videos. It’s cool to see what other people can come up with.

    • @RCGRacing

Agreed on all points. Right now my goal is keep it as simple as possible the more complicated it gets the harder to fix at the track

Nice new welder! I recall quite a few comments online with people liking that brand. I have no idea quite frankly regarding this build... other than I keep thinking something like metal shaping on a lathe... though maybe like tack the pulley and then use something wooden and secure when turning over the engine and slowly move in the piece of wood something stiff, solid and sturdy to true the pulley... then tack again and repeat assuring the pulley is straight? I'm confident my Dad is rolling over in his grave with that idea if he could... most likely the elements and subatomic particles of him in the universe with memory and memory associations and whatever does mind control is thinking that... though figured I'd write what's on the mind.

You should use a jack shaft between the engine and transaxle . That way you could place the engine anywhere you want , within reason .

I agree with you. If I was looking to trail ride the machine and balance was a worry for me I would. If the machine is to off balance I will rework it to have one. Right now the goal is keep it as simple as possible.

the only issue i see right off is the pulley set up , i have had 3 of these engines and no matter what you will never get good take off speed , im not sure how long you drag strip is but with that set up it will take you for ever to get up to speed , a few years ago when i was racing I run a 200 foot track and hold the fastest pass to date with a craftsman lt with a v twin turned in a time of 3.2 sec , I wish the best of luck bud , but please rethink your pulley set up

    • @RCGRacing
      @RCGRacing  3 года назад +1

That was why I worded it as this is the biggest pulley I could run :) Off camera I have a pile of sizes from 5 all the way to 10. They all are on 1 inch bore thats why I chose the grind it down and cut method.

Get you a Fiber metal with a flip up lens. The auto darkening hoods are to dark before you strike an arc. Can't see your layout lines.

Go under the Hood , They don't need to see the engine LOL! they Will see the Smoke LOL!!!
You want that Engine as LOW as possible , you don't want to flip her on take off!!
ALSO Make sure you Bump/Advance the Pump timing on that diesel , it's Simple to do and of course crank her up to 4000RPM and they LOVE that!!!
And Trust me... It Makes a HUDGE Difference and Well Worth it!!!

@@RCGRacing I have videos on my channel talking about it , But i never posted it as in how to.
I have a Little 6HP Diesel On My Sears Tractor And I blow snow with my 38" Snowblower on her , I tested her up to 8" Of PACKED snow, And in snow i already blowed into a pile, before the Timing Advancement she would have just stalled out forsure with that kind of load.
I find They like to run "to the max" As in full advanced on the timing. now... My engines are "first Gen" so newer ones maybe different then newer engines.
Come spring time after everything is well tested i am going to post videos of how i did everything to the engine.

Cowl hood to cover the motor byt for your sake, the exhaust needs to come out the side and down at an angle away from everything to avoid soot deposits on everything.

Why not Chop the hub out of the rear pulley?
If it's the same as a older sears , lots of meat on the hub to weld another size onto it.
ALSO you should be taking off the rear pulley and welding her anyways. As they are known to rip off the pulley.
i had one of them rear hubs fail this year. Was Quick and easy to weld up one to make it much stronger.
Just saying with just a 12" on the front she will not be very fast at all.
You Should also look into a GOOD Belt drive centrifugal clutch for her.
Around 6 years ago i brought a 1" shaft 8" COG 2"Belt Centrifugal clutch , i was going to use that on my Racing tractor when i started to build her years ago.
I was going to install the clutch under the tractor on a jackshaft so the clutch would only engage at 3000-3600 RPM so she would take off extremely hard LOL!
I kind of have not toutched my racing tractor in like 5 years... Maybe ill be looking at her again seeing last year i picked up a 28HP EFI Vtwin thats brand new.
at the start i brought a brand new Biggs Vtwin 18Hp But thought it was going to be too small so sold the engine.

You are very right about the hubs. At this point my goal is to find another transaxle in the spring that I can experiment on Z hubs with and metal working counter sink drill bits. A local machine shop owner I went to school with says if I can find the angle of the tapper and the length his bet is I can order a milling bit to make my own. Then cut the keyway by hand. The diesel will never be fast but it paves the way to try any number of different high rpm engines.

Put spacers up under the engine and cut hood out

  • @BioHazardra
    @BioHazardra 3 года назад

what if you took some odd sided angle (one side longer than the other like 2x4, ect) and dropped/boxed the frame, then just completely remake the steering with some sort of direct steering similar to gokart steering? possibly have it mounted on top of the frame and going around the engine. that might would allow you to drop the front axle a bit more as well. i would imagine though the problem with this all would be violating the rules for your racing class idk the rules. as for motor/hood, either cover the engine with a little 4x4 slant cut stack poking out like a pulling tractor or drag truck, or go all out, get a mini turbo and everything and have it all sticking out of the hood like a giant fuck you LMAO
