- Experiments in crossed stitches. Think outside the square in this tutorial, watch as Tracey @artfiberstitch creatively explores the cross. It can be stitched in a variety of ways as witnessed in my previous video. Here we can see the whole process from conception through to a beautiful little fabric art landscape, while pushing the boundary of this humble stitch. Layers of scraps of organza, net, and fabric create a lovely background then with the addition of only different crosses used imaginatively to create trees, grasses, even a fence.

You do lovely work! Thank you for showing me how to get started. I've been an admirer of mixed textile embroidery (and needle felting, but that's another interest of mine) for a long time 😊
You are so welcome! So many people focus on the one craft, but I love so many, who can choose !

Lovely. You have a really good eye for colour.
Oh thank you Patricia! Whenever someone asks me my favourite colour, I am always stumped because I love them all at different times!🤣
Beautiful, you have an eye for colour and composition and know how to bring it together. A lovely piece of textile art.

What is the base fabric please? I have been given some artist canvas (untreated) on a roll and I was wondering if that was what it is? Your piece of art looks lovely 😊
Hi Alison. I have just been using Unbleached Calico. It is easy to stitch to, strong, light, and I also like that the ecru colour works well with just about everything.
@@artfiberstitch sorry for the delay in replying but I wanted to thank you for letting me know what base fabric you used. 😊
