Mike I find your analysis (plural) of boardgames always on point. It is always a pleasure to hear your point of view about solo on each game, thank you for being our spokesman ! You should be reviewing games more often with Tom, your additional point of view will be appreciated a lot by the community I believe. Now I have to consider wether buying tapestry or not for solo... my wallet hates you, again :D
Brilliant review. So clear what your experience was, where your viewpoint was and that made it straight forward to make up my own mind as to whether this game is one that I’d like to play/buy. Thank you so much.
I love to paint, but I am all over pre-painted minis. Worst case scenario, I prime them and paint them myself. Noting, however that I've never actually done that :).
Setup and Teardown is wonderful to discuss. For example, I love Charterstone, but sometimes I think it takes too long for whatever time I have to break it open and play. I often pass it over despite the love I have for it. Unrelated, but wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your session on the Spaces Between segment with Roy. Your enthusiasm for gaming and your thoughtfulness regularly seen in your videos shined throughout the interview. You’d be a valued member in anyone’s gaming group! Too bad you’re out of state for my group.
great review! :) asked my FLGS if they will get it and probably will buy it there when they will. was almost convinced before watching your review but am even more now.. ;)
Mike, as always, what a fantastic job! This review has me really hyped to try Tapestry, especially solo. I love Viticulture and Wingspan solo and am excited to try more!
Question: Besides the Automa, does the Solo Mode contain some number of (thematic) Scenario-Based win conditions? This is the 'next step' in Solo Modes after all. For an example of SB-SM, I'd like to refer to the current KS of Merchants Cove, for instance, where (besides having an A-SM) the game provides thematic scenarios with specific gameplay instructions and win conditions to guide a solo player. This adds much-needed variety to the solo game experience, something Automas only touch upon, as they are mechanical in nature and often only affect the actions of gameplay (tactics) and not the overall gameplay (strategy) or win conditions (not to mention any narrative).
It does not have scenarios for the solo mode. While I think those can be great, I don't think they're necessary to have a viable, robust solo mode. The Automa Factory has upped the level of AI bots across the board.
I recently got Tapestry on sale with a local store (with a good discount), and I'm pleasantly surprised with the addition of single player rules and cards. At full price I wouldn't consider this game but on sale it's a great game with a very good single player implementation
Thanks a lot! for this video. I have spent hours enjoying solo-plays of Scythe, Viticulture, Gaia Project and others. I am also a huge fan (since the 90s) of the Sid Meier's Civ series. So, this is a good boardgame, with a solid solo mode, a good review, and a Civilization theme. What else could I ask? :-)
Great review. The solo mode doesnt sound that different from Scythe. Scythe had the cards racing for stars separate from the map units hindering you. They just combine the scoring at the end. I will gave to disagree about 7 wonders. No knock on Tapestry, but 7 Wonders sounds more like a Civilisation game due to interactions and staged development.
If I enjoy a game, I'm going to lose precisely zero sleep worrying over whether it's a "true this" or a "real that". It's pointless exercise. A game stands on its own.
I tend to agree with you on this. I only felt the need to address it because I thought this issue being raised online was one that might distract from the game as a whole.
Am I pronouncing automa incorrectly? I’m saying it as “or toe ma” rather than “au toma”. been playing with the automa on scythe for ages and just realised I’ve not heard it spoken before.
Thank you for all your kind words, Mike, you truly made my day.
The Automa Factory is a big reason why solo games have come so far in the last few years.
Pro trick: you can watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Kase Jayden yup, I've been watching on Flixzone for since november myself =)
What a great, professional review. I got all questions answered watching this review!!
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad it was helpful for you.
This is the first time I've seen a review by you and I must say I am looking forward for more of them. Thank you :)
That's very kind of you to say. Thanks for watching!
Totally agree on the pre-painted minis - I'm not a painter either and anytime I can get them already painted it's a big plus for me!
TufanoAlex 100% agree.

Very thoughtful review. I definitly will consider ordering this once it is available in germany. Thanks for this clear review.
You're very welcome! I'm glad it helped.

You're quite welcome. Thank you for the kind words.
Excellent review, it was great to hear your thoughts centred around the solo play mode, many thanks.
You're quite welcome. Thanks for watching.
Gaia Project uses the same automa deck combo mechanic and its a wonderful solo experience imo. Very nice informative review
Yes, I think that was their first attempt at the dual deck system? I still need to play that one.
Euphoria is also similar
I love to paint, but I am all over pre-painted minis. Worst case scenario, I prime them and paint them myself. Noting, however that I've never actually done that :).
I thought they looked wonderful, but I'm not a painter. I'm glad to hear that some painters are happy with pre-painted minis as well.
Thank you. I have had Viticulture for a couple months and, after hearing your thoughts, I'm going to give it a try.
Really appreciate your review Mike. Wonderful insight, discussion points, and overall information shared. High quality as always. 👍
Thanks so much for the kind words, Robert.
Good review Mike. I did end up ordering this yesterday, I’m low-key excited for it.
That's low-key awesome.

Thank you so much for this, Jack. That really means a lot.
Very nice review Mike!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the detailed review of the solo game, glad to see that you like it.
You're welcome!
Excellent review Mike. Not sure this game is for me but your detailed and clear review helped show me the solo play. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much, Nicole.
Thoughtful and clear review. Thanks!
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching!
You sold me Mike, just pre-ordered after watching this!
I hope you enjoy it!
great review! :) asked my FLGS if they will get it and probably will buy it there when they will. was almost convinced before watching your review but am even more now.. ;)
Thanks Mike, really thorough and helpful.

Pre-ordered, can’t wait!
Wow! Great review. Thank you.

Thank you Mike!
Thanks was on the fence but from what I've seen, this looks pretty good, simple enough yet complex strategically
The rules are simple, but the decision space is surprisingly large.

Yay!!
More Solo-centric reviews!! 😊
Trying to represent for the solo gamers, Shane!

Your solo content both on your channel as well as on The Dice Tower is always appreciated! 😊
I see Raiders on the background. Does it have a solo mode?
Yes it does and it's really good. He also does a solo play-through of it on his channel
@@Fighterfan69 thanks for letting me know I will check it out.
Yes, as FighterFan mentioned, I have a play through up on my Solo Mode Games channel.
You have to buy the Solo deck for Raiders separately (it's available direct from Garphill Games). But it's pretty good and challenging to beat!
I saw 'rolling for the number of victory points when you build something' and I was immediately out.
Are you referring to the Conquer Action on the Military track?
Great review.

@@solomodegames Oh, I get that. I understood your point of view completely.
Am I pronouncing automa incorrectly? I’m saying it as “or toe ma” rather than “au toma”. been playing with the automa on scythe for ages and just realised I’ve not heard it spoken before.
This is a question that never seems to have a definitive answer. I always assume I'm saying it wrong. I just try to be consistently wrong. 😃
Excellent video, Mike. Very well articulated.
