ABOUT CHICAGO FIRE
From renowned Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf ("Law & Order" brand) and co-creator Derek Haas, the writer behind "3:10 to Yuma," comes Season 8 of "Chicago Fire." The family inside Firehouse 51 knows no other way than to lay it all on the line for each other. Capt. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) leads the Truck Company and brash Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) runs the Rescue Squad. The firehouse also includes Battalion Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), a fireman's fireman. Paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) returns alongside seasoned veteran Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Randy "Mouch" McHolland (Christian Stolte), as well as resourceful firefighter Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). Completing the team are dependable squad member Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso), paramedic Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) and the newest addition, candidate Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende).

Then Severide said that when he pulled something like that when he was a rookie, Boden could have fired him but he didn't instead he made him a better firefighter.

@@nycot107 remember, gallo was still a candidate when he was introduced in the 8th season. so yeah, he'll probably do those more often as well "for his WHOLE CAREER".

Replacing Otis will be an impossible task but I am sure he will add to the firehouse in his own way. What a first impression and all the way through watching it I was thinking that is a very Severide thing to do. In fact I remember in season one a person was hanging out a window and was going to fall and whilst the others got the ladder Kelly scaled up the drain pipe to make sure the person didn't fall. I could understand the Chief's reluctance though as he has lost so many men and women both to death and awful injuries he was scared to potentially lose another!

For anyone that did not know, something similar to the Firefighter's climb occurred in real life. A male in France climbed several stories using the building balconies to rescue a Toddler.
I'm sure there have been other instances that are similar. Link is below

Gallo is so damn athletic and agile
Wouldn't it have just made more sense for him to go inside the building and run up the stairs then up the side of the building? I mean the building wasn't on fire so it would take just as long and you don't have to worry about falling off the side of the building.
Exactly you prefer the safer route but sometimes you have to take the shortest and hardest way. Everything will not always make sense
Elevator would be faster.
@@HulklingsBoyfriend That would be if the elevator was on the first floor when you pushed the button. If you had to wait or the elevator to come down from the third flood you would be better off just running up the stairs.
edeptlen but what if the elevator wasnt working or jammed, that would cause another issue for the firefighters, fire, police, and ambo crews have to take risks even if its the logical thing to do you wouldnt realise that untill your in that situation yourself, you may never do it but when someone is dying or is about to fall and die your instincts push you to save that person and not even hesitate about your own safety
