@Growling Sidewinder. Thank you Once again for another great Friday evening production. I just purchased an F-22 shirt. I hope more Raptor merch follows in the future and I hope we get some F-35 merch in the future too.
That first kill had to be the most Ace Combat moment I've seen you ever have in this game. Edit: also yeah, AC7 has it with the delta wing F-22 and F-16 experimental designs.
I’m an early 80’s baby and I remember being gifted at some point a Hotwheels sized die cast F-15 STOL/MTD. It had the red, white and blue paint job and everything. Even at that age I could appreciate the radical looking design of the aircraft. It definitely got the most playing time of my toy jets. 😊
Reminds me of the novel "Day of the Cheetah" written by Dale Brown. That made me fly my imagination for how the air combat maneuvering of the super-maneuverable fighters would be. Although those to be developed planes were never assembled for active duty, I still can imagine and fantasize those wings are in the air, wishing how our sky could have been.
I love the F-15 STOL/MTD! Seeing this lovely aircraft brings me back to playing Ace combat 4 shattered skies and other AC games. It was my go-to fighter in the AC game sires. Such a wonderful aircraft
This is what I've been waiting for. I'd love to see more of these weird experimental aircraft in action, like the F16XL, Su47, X29 or even the YF23. Though admittedly I have no idea if these exist in DCS
Great Job Longshot - great first kill I was convinced his F15 physically hit you ,I remember actually getting a fairly large model kit here in Ireland in the late 80s for a Strike eagle but one of these was in the kit,pre internet only seen a single image in a flight magazine before that ,
The first time I saw this plane (in-game) was in Ace Combat 5, flown by the 8492nd Squadron or the Grabacr Squadron, and in a non red-white-blue livery the plane looked so menacingly! Such an awesome plane!
That is awesome! I would love to see DCS do other aircraft that didn't make it into service. Like the F-16XL or the VF-23. Be very cool to see those out there
Chuck Yeager once said he would take on any pilot in a dog fight, in any other aircraft -made, with the F-15. At the time he had by far the most hours in the F-15. I personally got to see him fly the aircraft at Edwards Airforce Base, and also grew up around all those guys out there in Flight Test as a young boy back in the 60's. My father was a Flight Test engineer out there in those days, and all those guys were a very tight group that knew how to make things happen.
Bro, that was an amazing mini-doc at the beginning; I forgot I was about to watch you play with it. Also glad to see Longshot back in the mix. ....and I just got to the most ridiculous kill I’ve ever seen. You’re prolly not too happy to see Longshot back in the mix after that one😂🤣 “..it hit me like a rocket as opposed to an actual missile.” Read: kinetic kill as opposed to explosive kill?
Props for the spotlight on it's performance. One of the best one offs and just like the F22 first flew in the 80s and still is one of the best planes today.
8:28 - Ace Combat 7 only got the STOL/MTD very recently as a DLC, it's been in the series since Ace Combat 04, back in 2001, and a similar aircraft appeared in 2 (1997). It's been every game since excluding 6.
Based on the excellent quality of content you create should both entertaining and informative, you deserve a lot more subscribers. My 12 year old nephews do lame Minecraft videos and they have over 200. Just shows how niche the flight sim genre is. Your work is truly appreciated 👍🏽
I loved this plane in H.A.W.X 1. You could do some insane maneuvers when in pro mode, slowdown pull back throttle until the nose points backwards and full throttle again, and launch missiles. Guaranteed hit almost every time. 🤣 Only the F15 & F22 in the game were capable of this maneuver as you said.
I am glad I found this channel, even through I've never had any experience with this software what so ever! Your deep dives into the history are quite interesting as well! I did produce some potting tooling for the F-22's imbedded arrays. Cool project to say the least!
7:20 - I have a recording of Longshot. It says "Whew! Oh Sheeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiii-" First he said it, then he DID it! Then, his "Jester", R-2, squealed in delight.
@@commandergeokam2868 true. I do wonder though, would the canards interfere with the cannon? It looks like the canards are mounted right over the firing port. Another this is that the older F-15s did not have digital fly-by-wire flight control systems. So while the airframe might have been more agile, the tech of the time was limiting. I wonder of the STOL F-15 retained the analogue flight control computer or if it had a fly-by-wire system.
@@Reaper_03-01 probably it would have a different angle in the gun so it doesn't interfere or even they took it out For the control system i think they had the fly by wire because of the load of the manuvers would require better control from the computers and the pilot

They have a little of the thrust reversal stuff going on in the F22 for sure. I have seen that thing nose up, hit the brakes, tail hook around and be back at 400 knots all in 5 seconds.
The F-15 STOL.MTD was in various different Ace Combat games under various different names, but typically known as the F15S, and is even in the game Project Wingman as well.
Play with the viggen and do a dogfight with it! Use it like the usn used the phantom in vietnam, never drop out of mach, and you gonna have a great time!

4:26 that is called the F-15 ACTIVE. They used the same aircraft model, but it’s different program. It would be very interesting if the ACTIVE and the STOL/MTD faced off against each other in DCS.

Lol some of that footage is what I took at the 2005 Edwards AFB airshow I posted it on RUclips called F-15 Active under the name " megashegem" looks like somebody cleaned the footage up a little bit
Idk if that's what it was, but in Great Lakes, IL in the fall of 1999 we saw a jet with a white underbelly that had that front wing like the STOL MTD. It flew by twice within maybe a month or two. Never knew what it was but seen a STOL MTD on FB and its the only thing I've seen would fit the profile.
hey GS no the F-15 STOL/MTD also showed up in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, Ace Combat 04: Shattered skies and Ace Combat 5: the Unsung war to name a few I believe it was in Ace Combat 6 as well but not sure I haven't played that one yet
Just a side tidbit; the F-15 in the first clips from Lakenheath aren’t of an F-15D, but an F-15E without conformal tanks. It was doing an FCF. Rare to see a Strike Eagle slick like this.
Technically the 2-D nozzle variant was a serious proposal for production for the USAF. The 3-D vectoring nozzle was pure science testbed.
