    Just got the CITI Premier, for my upcoming trips to Barbados and Patagonia. Thanks for sharing how you use cards for your personal travel.

      Prior to adopting Kenya as my preferred home away from home, I looked long and hard at Barbados. I've been there and it is indeed a beautiful island. To this day, I get emails weekly from a real estate agent given my interest in the residences at Crane Beach.
      Be sure to check back in and let me know about your credit card journey in Barbados. Have a great Bajan vacation 😂

    I am so excited to subscribe because I’m planning on applying for the Citi Premier (possibly Strata later this year). The main reason why I want to be a part of Citi’s ecosystem is to rack up points to fly Qatar Airways. Thanks for the content. I look forward to seeing much more on your Africa travels.

      I'm excited that you're excited 🤣. Thanks for joining. I'm heading out for a 6 county Africa tour for 3 months so there will be plenty of Africa content. Check out my travel channel. It is all about Africa. @RichardDebs
      The Citi premier is my go-to card when I travel. Stack those Citi points. Flying Qatar, Emirates, etihad and Turkish is awesome.
      Jury is still out if we will ever see a strata card.

    Great video. I recently got the Citi Premier, and have the fidelity of 2% which is great for retirement. Planning on either upgrading the Citi to the strata or get the Marriot boundless, which will eventually upgrade to the Ritz. The strata will most likely have a lot of similar benefits to the ritz with protections and credits.

      There is no guarantee that any Strata card will ever see the light of day. Additionally, none of us know how much longer we'll be able to product change to the Ritz Carlton card. Here is a shameless plug to use my boundless link 😊. cards.bumacompany.com/marriott

      @@RSquared-travel-rewards You are right about that. Do you think my setup even needs a hotel card with the access it gives? The Citi covers pretty much everything, and the fidelity is a 2% catch all and used if mastercard is not taken,

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards

      @@Jes1919 I know nothing about at Fidelity cards. My world revolves around Amex, CP1, Chase, BILT, Citi & Wells Fargo.
      If you don't care which hotel you stay at or you don't care about hotel status or you don't care about getting a free night every year, then you don't need hotel cards. I view hotel cards for those who will be travelling a few times a year and therefore enjoy the perks of hotel status. I love them because I happen to fall into that bucket. However, many folks don't need them at all.

    Heading to Paris in a few weeks and want to purchase a city pass for all the attractions. Would you recommend the Citi Premier or another card?
    The prices are in Euros and are purchased in advance online.

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards
      @RSquared-travel-rewards  9 месяцев назад +1

      It depends on your vendor and how they code the city pass. I expect it to be entertainment so if you have the Savor One, you could be in luck. If coded as travel then Reserve is best for its broad travel category.
      - Savor One
      - Reserve
      - Premier
      - Venture X
      That would be my order depending on the cards I have with me but it can't hurt to research/email the vendor.
      I'll be in Paris for 1 day later this month. If you see me, be sure to say hi 🤣

    What are the qualification requirements for approval for this card. Is it better to establish a banking relationship with Citi before applying?

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards
      @RSquared-travel-rewards  Год назад

      The interesting thing is that I find that Citi appears to be the least interested in whether or not you have a banking relationship with them. I find that Amex, Chase and Capital One cares.
      My experience with Citi is that they are very sensitive to many inquiries within a 12-month period. If you have 700+ fico and just a few inquiries, I expect that you'd be approved for the card.

    The jab at youtubers for not talking about this card because of no beneficial affiliate link was a power jab lol. I agree, This card is great for those who travel internationally for more then 2 wekks in places like africa,
    asia, middle east.
    one point that you are missing though is that you highly underestimate how much people don't travel internationally. Part of my family is spread in east africa (Kenya uganda Rwanda) and this card has always been a dream for international esspically in africa.
    But you and me will know that based on actually traveling, learning with real life experience.
    For a guy thats just talking about the saphire reserve or amex platinum its not really based on real life broad travel experience. People don't use these cards for what they are worth at all. The citi premier should be way up for team travel but its not.

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards
      @RSquared-travel-rewards  9 месяцев назад

      I was thinking that my jab was silent 😊. My interest in credit cards is to purely allow me the amass points to help facilitate my travel so 95% of my content is about how I use my cards and hopefully like-minded folks might find some value. If I have convinced a few folks to visit Africa, I would have succeeded in my mission of helping to open hearts and minds to new experiences.
      I'm heading out again at the end of the month for at least 3 months so you better believe that the Premier will once again be front and center!
      I wouldn't be mad if you shared the channel with others who might find it interesting. It's tough to make a dent in such a crowded field.

    Wait until you have any kind of issue and call Citi premier customer service. You will become so frustrated and see why everyone hates Citi.

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards
      @RSquared-travel-rewards  Год назад +3

      I've been a Citi card holder for many years. Sure their customer service is not like Amex's. However, I start with their online chat in their portal where I can have live conversations with a rep and only call if it's an absolute requirement.
      I bank with Citi where I have Citi Priority status. As we all know with airlines and hotels, whatever status you gain, helps with the entire experience when dealing with an issue. To be honest, I have very little reason to contact Citi because the premier just works.
      Thanks for watching the video.

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards
      @RSquared-travel-rewards  Год назад +2

      I don't believe that owning the Premier impacts banking. However Citi has made significant updates to their banking to which I haven't fully digested.
      I recommend CP1 and Amex banking to folks because there are no fees and no minimums.

      Not at all Frank. I love traveling and credit card points are an essential part of my travel strategy. I'm simply showing how I use the points. Anyone can read a website and make a video about a credit card, but I figured I'd show what I do with benefits.
      BTW, I will definitely be on a safari in South Africa using my Citi points to book the hotel I showed in the video.
      Thanks for watching Frank and I invite you to watch a few of my videos as well on my travel channel @RichardDebs
