As a Tajik, after I did an in depth research on Afghanistan’s true geopolitical historic events surrounding its propaganda invasions, I’d say Dr. Najibullah was speaking from the heart with intelligence to his fellow countrymen to unite them. I once out of youthful arrogance was anti Afghan communist regime because of my parents who were brainwashed, but now I’m for them. Ahmad Shah Masood political stance against Russia was WRONG. And Taliban is of course CIA asset so only that war of his was righteous.
Even if we relate Afghanistan to what’s happening in Ukraine it’ll also prove Dr. Najibullah correct again. Imagine a ahmad shah masood of Ukraine leading fighters anti Russia and that’s exactly what masood did in Afghanistan against his forefathers alliance while benefiting USA agendas.
Check out “20 years war deception” and Abby Martins video because in a nutshell this is the exact truth. United Snakes imperialists foreign policy is still military industrial complex

@@chromeoperaedge2092 Oh for god's sake Najibullah wasn't perfect, yes he originally used to get rid of the 'ullah' from his name because he was dealing with the godless Soviets who would have penalized him for having a religious name, but he's better than the Taliban, who were founded and funded by the Americans, and he's better than the Ghani clique. And don't be fooled by my youtube name btw.
Look he wasn't perfect, and the fact is, in our region, nothing is perfect, we have to pick from the best of a bad bunch and keep pushing, within the limits, towards better and better leaders until we're satisfied.
I understand your anger, I do, I had family members who were anti-PDPA, anti-Najibullah/Najib, but the only way forward is to realize the reality of the situation, accept the limitations of leaders without demonization, which only leads to violent reactions, and then instead engage and push for positive reformation. Reform vs bloody revolution = reform always wins. Reform is a long, slow process. For true justice, for every person as an individual for receive justice, we must strive toward engagement and pressure for reform. Sure it'll take a long time, but the time will pass anyway. The entire problem with our country is the 'all or nothing' approach. Instead we must bring all parties into the proverbial tent and seek a modest compromise toward reform. Later, one can push for greater reforms, in a gradual approach. This is the way to progress.

Washington totally ignored his proposal for a reconciliation plan to move Afghanistan forward in a constructive way. I'm not sure if it could have worked but good for him to stay and try, he was a realist and did his best. In some ways he reminds me of Dr Assad in Syria, both were placed in very similar situations.
Luckily Assad had the help of a few allies that prevented the total collapse of Syria into the hands of forces even worse than those faced by Dr Najibullah.

Instead of bickering, based on non-factual arguments and delusions made in some people's minds, we can't hide the truth. It's good to get one's head out of sand and go read on some history, written by both sides to this quagmire.
Unfortunately, Afghans or non, can't get their points across or disagree in a gentlemanly manner and respectful language. Each person shows how they are raised and how much honor they have. Hiding behind a virtual identity, mocking and getting down to an extremely poor and low level of lifestyle is an example of punks who have no honor. If you can't present your point properly then you should not bother to leave comments that only make sense to you in your head, if there is one.

Check up a book written by Fawzia Koofi "Letters to my doughters". This woman was born in northern Afghanistan in 1975, doughter of wakil Abdul Rahman, she is currently a member of national afghan assembly, lived in Afghanistan all her life and plans to run for next pressidental ellection . Her family traditionally held political power. She describes her life.
From the book: mujaheedin (sponsored by USA) and Taliban were not the same - Taliban killed important Mujaheedin commander - the two groups fought with ech other, Some of the Mujaheedins joined the Taliban later - but they were not the same and never were they friends.
Also she states something that media do not say: during the rise of Taliban, pure arabic (from Saudi Arabia) was often heared on the streets of Kabul - according to her, Taliban rised in southern Afghanistan, in madrasas infected by wahabbism coming over from Saudi.
Fundamental islam is hated in America while Saudi is the main nest. America will be silent about it as long as there are oil trading agreements with SA - oil agreements means economy NOT "we love fundamentalists/extremists". And no one ever asks one question: Afghanistan is ruined: there are no factories, no industry, meaning there are no weapons. So who is arming the Taliban? Someone .else apart from US is interested in Afghanistan - and I noticed that no muslim ever answered me that question. And this would give the answer to a question who fights who in this war.

If you can't present your point properly then you should not bother to leave comments that only make sense to you in your head, if there is one.

as a minster of state security, he was a murderer who tortured and killed thousand of people for opposing communism. However, as leader of afghanistan, he had a vision of peace. it is very difficult for me to come to a conclusion whether to believe he was a good person or a bad person. if he had continued soviet support, and succeeded in the civil war, who know what afghanistan would be like today.

By 1991, Najibullah was so far away from what he supported between 1980 and 1985. He led the KHAD, the Khadamat-e Aetla'at-e Dawlati. He was minister for State Security under Babrak Karmal. Most videos of Najibullah are made between 1987 and 1991, after he turned the Stalinist; Democratic Republic of Afghanistan into the Republic of Afghanistan and even into a Islamic state by 1990. But it would not do him any good. The Mujaheddin destroyed his republic in April 1992!
Dr. Najibullah was like Gorbachev, trying to save the ruling caste of his collapsing Stalinist state. He and the People's Democratic Party of Afganistan are a classic example of typical degeneration and ultimate betrayal of socialist principals. It is therefore remarkable that he is now glorified by many here on You-Tube. I think it is because he was murdered by the Taliban in 1996. This turned him into a martyr for those who supported his cause!
But remember, there were two Najibullah's in Afghan history. The first was the brutal minister of state security, who led the Khadamat-e Aetla'at-e Dawlati ( KHAD ) between 1980 and 1985. The second was the Najibullah who desperate tried to end the civil war and the fighting. This Najibullah is the one we see on You-Tube, the Najibullah his supporters remember. But many supporters of the Mujaheddin also remember Najibullah as KHAD leader and killer of Muslims!

The progressive people of Afghanistan remember Najibullah for what he and the PDPA did for the masses. They don’t need a lecture on “stalinism” from some dogmatic, fake “communist” Trotskyite living in a rich western country (which is the only place Trotskyism exists any way).

If he hadn't tried running away Afghanistan would not fall into a civil war. And for the ignorants who don't know history. Yes he actually tried escaping, but was turned back from the airport by the soldiers of Dostum whom Najib himself had called to Kabul for the defense of the city. When he couldn't escape from Afghanistan, he ran away and hid in the office of the United Nations.
