Hey Sound Bites!!! Glad you guys are digging this one so much :) This song was really fun to make - I was expecting to enjoy this game but what I wasn't expecting was to find my favorite game since Witcher 3. I LOVED it :) Aloy's personal journey really spoke to me & I could relate to a lot of what she felt in the story, so it was a pleasure to write. Big thanks to Sarah for her amazing vocals once again, her channel link is in the description and you can also hear her on my song 'Call Of Home'. Keep rockin'!! Gav
I felt the same way about the game. Best since the Witcher 3. And she shares some of Geralt's snark and cynicism... I love it. :) Ashly Burch did a wonderful job voicing Aloy!
What I really like about your music is that you can hear that you don't just make songs about games that are hyped right now. No, you make songs about games that inspire you and I think this is probably the best way to make such songs and also they're getting a much better quality. Keep going :) PS maybe you can do a song in the near future with DAgames if you want because I think your voices would fit very well together
One of my favorite games! Hawkeye's line from Age of Ultron suits this game so well: "We’re fighting an army of robots and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense."
Truth be told, I've been waiting for a game like this since I first played Fallout 2. A tribal take-down on the Post-apocalyptic, not just the usual "survivalist-somehow-remembers-old-world" kinda thing, but a whole mythificiation of the old world. Horizon Zero Dawn delivered, and I hope there's other games like this one.
Dorvuzak Uzn first off, I was being sarcastic; second, this kind of 'mythification' is just "good old days" talk writ large, and third, if a bunch of mechs are the new wildlife, wtf these people living on???
Sean D.G I've seen such stuff in works of fiction that tend to be detached from reality like Warhammer 40,000, with the stories of the Techno-barbarian tribes and how they survived in their post-apocalyptic planets. Maybe we could accomodate it to this game. Bear in mind that at least some couple of centuries have passed since the apocalypse, therefore making a mythification posible.
Always getting goosebumps at the "I will run, I will fall" and the "In the bones, of the earth" parts. The voice, the instrumentals, it's close to perfection.
You've written awesome song inspired by awesome game. It seems, you've repeated the success with "Wake the White Wolf"!) Love the lyrics, vocal, music and video - I have watched it about 5 times)
ShadowxPhoenix Holy crap me to just a few minutes ago! I do programming, coding and game design so the most fun math lesson in my life, the B i got in that test and this new song is getting me to work like a machine right now!
the female vocalist has an absolutely beautiful voice, and the song itself, while already damned good, was made even better for it. one of my new favorite songs, for one of my favorite games
Honestly one of the things I loved most about this game's story is basically summed up in that line. In most stories the outcast has to prove their worth, to earn the right to be treated like a human being, like they somehow owe the people who abused them. The narrative usually has the protagonist be motivated by trying to gain acceptance. They have to forgive and forget and usually have to preform feats beyond what any reasonable person could expect for even some basic respect and it's just kinda icky because the ending usually has them in a position of servitude to the people; think messiah or leader where they are expected to further self-sacrifice for the people who never treated them as a person until they "proved" that they were "worthy." And the narrative treats the self-destructive behaviour as a good thing and usually condemns people who strike back or try to leave their abusive environments because they have a responsibility for whatever. But in this case when people start worshipping Aloy she gets pissed at their hypocrisy and it's great! I love it! Aloy reacts healthily with anger. Even her attempts to "prove" herself are merely to gain knowledge about her mother! Aloy knows she owes these people nothing because they have never treated her as one of them and they cannot expect her to suddenly fall to her knees in gratitude because they finally deigned to treat her like a human being or a hero after years of neglect! She has nothing to prove to anyone because her self-worth isn't reliant on narrow-minded people who threw a baby out of their society and only let her back in when she was useful to them. It's just refreshing.
Horizon is one of my favorite game series ever. Finished Zero Dawn a while back and just started Forbidden West a few days ago. I love getting lost in the world of Horizon and learning more about what happened to Earth a thousand years prior
Listening to this song again (and again and again...) and it just keeps catching me by surprise. I'll listen to two other songs and my brain forgets how /amazing/ this one is, so I re-discover it every loop. The way the powerful modern sound fits with the tribal elements, and all of the vocals... This song is everything I want.
This is the song that introduced me to your channel. It appeared on my Aviators playlist while I was working (probably months after it came out) and I replayed it constantly. Been a fan of your stuff ever since. Thanks for creating music Gav!
Some moments literally gave me goosebumps! I don't know how he's doing that, but with each passing song Gavin and his songwriting gets better and better! Sarah obviously did a great job as well! Great vocals!
Honestly the only reason I initially subbed was because I really enjoy you on podquisition but since then songs like this make me wish I'd found you sooner. Amazing work as always.
How awesome would it be if the song got cut off by RUUULES OF NATUUUURE! and Raiden just comes otu of nowhere in blademode slashing all of the mech things in Horizon?
I don't know if I can properly describe just how amazing the instrumentation of this song is. It immediately got under my skin in a good way and really brought this song to life in a way that I haven't heard sine Lady of Worlds. While I feel that pretty well all of your songs are good, I closely follow your releases in the hopes to hear more true gems like this one. Well done to you sir, and to Sarah as well, for this amazing song.
You know, I don't think I've actually listened to any of Gavs stuff for a while, and I was thinking to myself the other day, "You know, I bet Miracle of Sound could do a really great Horizon song," since I had just finished the game and absolutely loved every minute of it. And then I saw this and was reminded just how awesome Gavs music is. Great job with this one man! I feel like I should probably go and check out the rest of the (presumably awesome) stuff I've missed recently.
Beautiful song and it really portray the character of Aloy well. God, we can feel the emotion. Especially since I can relate to the character and understand how she fells. I really must finish the game.
Usually when I listen to the same song over and over again, it starts getting annoying. But I've been listening to this almost non-stop since you posted it, and, well, I keep falling more and more in love with it
Aloys father aka rost may not have been in the game long but the bond formed between the player and him in those few moments here and then his epic sacrifice to save aloy is just so sad but like that's how yknow your in for a good game
Had a little chill run through my nervous system while listening to/watching this video. Some kind of visceral resonance with the sounds and scenarios. A little reminder from the primal me perhaps. Truly fine piece of work.
It is so great to see that gav has finally found a style he can implement to every game and movie. That style is an uplifting theme that is almost uplifting keep up the good work.
I've been listening to this on Spotify like 20+ times for the past few days and it still doesn't get old x3 I freakin' love this, it's so motivating and empowering
This is amazing! I've not played the game, as I don't have the right console for it, but the video and the music makes me intrigued - and I've always loved anything you put out musically from all the different games and shows you've done songs for... your musical creativity is unstoppable!
I cannot believe the talent and effort that are put into these songs. I really feel that you should be out there, performing these creations of yours in front of a large audience. This was another spectacular song mister Dunne :-D
holy crap man we need more like this song cheerful and inspiring (some of your songs are usually a bit too dark for me) also please do more stuff with her voice is simply amazing
Okay.... this is maybe for the first time I had a chance to play the game before I heard the song... and it only made the song so much better. Those subtle references, poetic, yet fitting descriptions, tunes that are original and yet capture the spirit of the game so well.... I salute you, for you are master of your craft, Gav.
Dudemitri Moxemberg Ever heard some of his first ones? “Gordon Freeman saved my life”, for example. Let’s just say.......he’s improved since then. Dramatically.
I don't if it's the the beautiful and inspiring lyrics, the spectacular vocals, or the music behind it all, but there's something about this song. This song is something special. I was smiling throughout and my eyes started water at certain lines. Saying great job is too much of an understatement.
Oh my goodness, this is such a cool song!!! I've never even heard of the game in question, but I don't need to in order to enjoy this work of art. Sarah's voice is beautiful and haunting here, perfect for the lyrics. Great job, Gavin!

That is exactly the announcement I came here looking for. Thanks.
Super excited already! (For both the game and your song!)

I have no idea where do you find these female vocals, but hell, they all are beautiful!
Sarah's an old buddy of mine, we've known eachother since my days gigging in bands :)
And here I assumed he was just able to change his voice at will.

The ability to change voices at will makes total sense. He *is* a Miracle of Sound, after all.
