Gojira is always a blast to play. Mario Duplantier is one of my favorites. He has his own style that is 100% recognizable.

@Adam Smith why would you need triggers? It's preprogrammed. She is just playing over it. And even if it isnt, you can trigger from mics easily. But this is 100% preprogrammed midi with something like sd3 or bfd

If the drums were just triggered by her live perfromance it would be perfectly fine with me, but this preprogrammed play along is just ridiculous. There are a few points that are dead giveaway, i m working in music production. Too clean/drums sound too isolated (you can't achieve this type of sound in a small room and without samples), too few mics on her drums to get this sound, they didn't even bother to put overhead mics. Timing is just too perfect, that means it's quantized in midi, also not much dynamic difference in all the kick hits and snare hits, that means they programmed them at same velocity levels. So, too few mics/no triggers to use triggered samples. Either she is playing on a click and someone programmed the midi afterwards (tedious but can be done in like 30 minutes if you have enough experience), or she is just mimicking.
@Adam Smith I don't believe, i know. It's just like lipsyncing. As i said i m in this business and i know what can or can't be done. With no triggers and so few mics you can't even trigger efficiently or achieve this type of sound. Clearly audiable quantization/too few samples/no velocity change. It's midi 100%

Finally! A female drummer who doesn’t wear 2% clothes, doesn’t need a $50,000 dollar kit to play 3 toms and a few cymbals, and doesn’t use a bunch of fancy camera angles. Just a kid who knows how to play👍

Me and my band play at a drummer's garage and drums are maybe 3 times older than me there. Crash sounded like trash can cap. So he took one part of hat and placed it on crash upside down like this )( (turn head 90 degrees). Now it sounds better. Wish you could see it

I was never really a fan of Paiste cymbals but these in particular are darker toned, similar to Joey from (ex) Slipknot. Meinl and Zildjian K are the sweetest sounding cymbals on the market hands down.
@@tatchueable K's are a much higher price point than 900 series paiste's. check out the signature and 2002 ranges for a better comparison.

I'll disclose the fact I'm not a drummer/percussionist (wish I could be), and the only instrument I could ever play well has stings
It's cool to see great songs and great sound from smaller kits. Easier for people without experience to watch the techniques. As much as I enjoy the sound of drumming, seeing the performance just makes it great.
Also, I bet Gojira would be proud of this performance, as they embrace minimalism in terms of equipment and production when it comes to making their music.
Gotta be one of my most enjoyed videos of yours tbh.

I don't know what but something in the video is not right, it almost looks like there's a backing track on top of the actual drums she doesn't seem to even have that many mics to pick up all the sounds from the drums but they just sound clear and solid.
yeah most likely a backing track, she most likely added a backing tack to make the listener enjoy it more, then it record raw audio from the camera mic and it peak a lot and sound bad. but based on watching her play, she CAN play this song
It's probably just a mostly triggered set to keep levels consistant. I doubt there's any backing track other than the original song

@@iltechli342 yeah it looks like she knows how to play the song but sometimes if you don't hit those cymbals right or the snare it just kinda makes you sound bad and that's why it caught my attention because if you listen to the parts she hits the ride it sounds the same in all times she does but there's no mics close so maybe there is a mix of an instrumental drum backing track on top of the song's backing track and the camera's audio

Hey guys! I recorded and mixed this cover so I thought I'd chime in.
There're no samples on the kick (and rest of the kit actually). Just good foot control and some mixing tricks. I hope this clarifies the matter! Thanks
@@romankharyukov I can see only one mic, but it sounds like you have overheads. I want be shocked if there was no mic for a kick drum, and it was a trigger all the way.

I can see that she can play, but i would rather hear a sound from your camera than this.
I find it VERY hard to believe there are no samples whatsoever on these drums.... I've never heard hits that consist in my life. I'm curious of your "mixing" tricks. Did you sample her actual hits and track the whole song and then have her do a video play through?

@@Societyofknowledge Most metal drummers play their china the other way around, including Mario Duplantier, Gojira's drummer. Also the sound difference isn't very big, apart from maybe losing a bit of attack (and imo this bit of attack being lost would make her china sound better).

Is it me or the audio is a bit laggy or off?
Shes using pre recorded audio. The cymbals wouldnt be as clear as they are with no overhead mics. You can also see that some of her hits are misplaced from the audio as well.
