The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat, side by side on the window sat…. This was one of those poem books they make for kids similar to The Owl and the Pussycat.
Hit those marbles with a black light and separate out the ones that glow. And Siam became Thailand in 1939 so Bob was right on the age...some seriously cool stuff!

very impressive mix of obscure items, enjoyed seeing all of it, the Ray Gun reminds me of Burk Rogers and Ming. William Jennings Bryan, " Scopes trial" counsel
What a fabulous haul...I think your silver tea pot is actually a coffee pot. Milk glass collectors LOVE marbles. Lots made from left over milk glass, and slag glass.
It is so exciting to see what treasures await inside each box! The breadth of your knowledge is amazing! I get that feeling of anticipation just like when I was young visiting relatives with my mother and a box of toys would be placed on the floor for my brothers and me to explore! 😍😍😍
William Jennings Bryan (March 19, 1860 - July 26, 1925) was an American orator and politician. Beginning in 1896, he emerged as a dominant force in the Democratic Party, running three times as the party's nominee for President of the United States in the 1896, 1900, and 1908 elections. He also served in the House of Representatives and as the Secretary of State under Woodrow Wilson. in office March 5, 1913 - June 9, 1915
I'm from Preston (now part of Cambridge, Ontario) and grew up very close to the Savage Shoe factory. Cambridge had several shoe factories and I used to wear shoes from Savage when I was a kid. Great to see a box in such great shape!
These boxes held some amazingly beautiful finds! It’s wonderful to know these treasures are still out there in the world. They sure don’t make them like this any more.
So much fun! Really great finds; this is my favorite unboxing of treasures I've seen in a while. Loved that hat with all the pins, the tobacco cards, '30's art deco toys and decals and the big mohair teddy bear. Wish I could come up and see you and your wonderful store. Thank you for sharing the unboxings with us. I enjoy every one!
Avery exciting time going through the boxes! Great there were many memories and a good return for your investment. I used to play marbles with the boys in the very early 60s in the dirt on my stomach with the boys during recess.
No baseball in that pack as they are English cigarettes. My dad used to smoke Players cigarettes and they had a sailor in an old fashioned uniform on the front and dad used his dad magic by rolling up a small piece of cigarette paper and wetting it slightly, putting it in the sailors mouth having made a hole in the pack to put it in It then got lit and it looked like the sailor was smoking ! So exciting!! Players slogan was ‘Players please’ I went on a tour of the Queen Mary in the 1960s in Southampton I think, before it was sold abroad
Alex - That Teddy Bear was the same type of Teddy I had when I was a little girl in the early 70's. It was my first Teddy Bear and a gift from my grandmother who loved going to estate sales and swap meets. It was taken away from me a few years later because I was told I was too old to carry around a Teddy, it disappeared one day while I was attending 1st grade. I cried for weeks after that. I was bought a new Teddy bear but it was never the same. I still hold grudges about the "parenting" I received, but seeing that Teddy in your video was such a wonderful treat. I am glad to see another one made it through all these years. Warms my heart and I am thankful you showed it!
Oh that is cruel! My 6 year old granddaughter takes her teddy everywhere. In fact he is actually her mother’s teddy, and her mother (my daughter) always had him on her bed, even as an adult.
@@franceswatts4001 I kept every special toy my son had growing up. I never wanted him to have those kinds of memories too. I want his kids to play with them someday and maybe their kids too
Wooooo whooooo! Score ,score ,score ..... A incredible collection with a Lifetime of memories . They all landed in the right hands ! Congratulations on all those great finds !
Interesting to see the Australian National Airlines flyer. A piece of Australia's aviation history. In Oct 1957, Australian National Airways (ANA), (established in 1936) succumbed to Ansett Airlines offer of £3.3 million for their airline. The new entity was called Ansett-ANA, the name it retained until Nov1968, when it became Ansett Airlines of Australia. Ansett Airlines was in service for 65 years. Sadly, it was forced into liquidation in 2001. Their last flight was in March 2002.
Being from Indiana it looks like the souvenir from Indianapolis is of the Soldiers and Sailor's Monument. It was dedicated in 1902 as a memorial to the Hoosiers who fought in the past wars. We became a state in 1816.
That Rolex is a cool find! Probably worth 2-3k. Looks like cal 1210, ref. N62960, movement signed Mentres Rolex SA, Geneva Swiss 17 jewels, within a rolled gold and steel case. Pretty neat!
That is such a cool collection of things that you picked up this time. One of the earliest collections that I think I have seen you unbox. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
That campaign button for William Jennings Bryan is probably pretty valuable! He ran in the 1896, 1900, and 1908 US presidential elections. He also served in the House of Representatives and as the Secretary of State under Woodrow Wilson.
Yes, definitely from Marks and Spencer in the UK. The tin looks at least 50 years old. Their modern tins are all beautifully decorated. The St Michael trademark hasn't been used for many years.
That St Michael tin is definitely Marks and Spencer and most certainly a biscuit tin Because of its lack of decoration and perfunctory logo makes me think that it was possibly used in store from a time years and years ago when M&S used to sell loose groceries like biscuits and you could buy as many or as few as you liked without being restricted by pack sizes. All these trendy stores today where you can buy by weight seem to think they invented this method of shopping - nope your Victorian /Edwardian ancestors - right up to pre supermarket would recognise this way to shop
@@lynnedelacy2841 Yes, you're dead right. I don't remember M&S actually selling loose biscuits but our local grocer did. You voted buy a bag of your favourite or a mixed assortment, all wrapped in brown paper bags fastened with a twist at the corners 😁
@Jane Austin I’m straining to remember but I think they did and that’s exactly the type of tin the biscuits would be in, bigger I think than the usual retail tin
These are my favorite videos Alex- searching through treasure boxes and finding old toys. I just recently picked up the Minic Brewery tractor trailer- with key and the original beer barrels. The Dinky Toys you have are not all pre-war. As a general rule, if the hubs are ridged- they are post-war. If the hubs are smooth, they are pre-war. Thanks for sharing your finds!
I’m sure others have commented, but Williams Jennings Bryan ran for President in the US 3 times, losing all. He went in to be Secretary of State under Woodrow Wilson. He was well known as a great orator in the US. That must be quite old since he ran around the turn of the last century.
Sometimes your just out of bands and in a hurry. Or you refuse to buy expensive stuff when you have string which is just as good. Especially since you've been collecting it since you were in short pants.
What fun, felt like a session with the folks, looking through boxes of treasures and listening to their stories. Imagine a teacher having artifacts like these to introduce the next topic of study. That would get them to put down their phones!

I had to look at when elastic bands were invented. It was 1845 so that would be a really old set of cards 😉
Sometimes your just out of bands and in a hurry. Or you refuse to buy expensive stuff when you have string which is just as good. Especially since you've been collecting it since you were in short pants.
Lots of that stuff was recruited for the War Effort. So string was probably a preferred option.
String lasts longer and does less damage than a sticky perished rubber band (which is what they used to be called).
