Arresting gear for fighter jets. (Wikipedia)
Land-based military airfields operating fighter or jet trainer aircraft also use arresting gear systems, although they are not required for all landings. Instead, they are used for landing aircraft on short or temporary runways, or for emergencies involving brake failure, steering problems or other situations in which using the full length of the runway is not possible or safe. There are three basic types of land based systems: permanent, expeditionary, and overrun gear.

If you've never been there, there is a house right at the end of the runway. "Ah, the serenity".

Most people think that only carrier based aircraft have a tailhook system on them. Fighter jets with tailhooks are more common than than you would think. F-15, F-16 and the F-111 have tailhooks on them in case of an emergency landing.

that super that made the arrested landing, was that a training drill or was there a problem. the pilots didnt seem to be in a hurry to get out of their jet.

Shawn Trzecinski was actually a gear failure. Rear gear set did not retract causing an arrested landing. The arrested landing was a precaution but common practice under those circumstances

I Invented the Intake Section that was later to be part of the SuperHornet Intake, but got no credit for it.

No surprises if thats true. Most companies have it written in your employment contract that if you invent or develop something on their dime you dont own the rights to it.
Especially if it was your job to design something to fit a requirement

I draw a picture of an aircraft when i was a kid with the intake under the nose but a little ways back just like an F16 before they were even invented.
