Systematic fault in the vacuum system with entry of cooling water into the oil circuit. Occurrence at < 60,000 km. Exchange oil pump and countless cables etc. necessary. For this, removal of the complete engine incl. front axle necessary. 7 days pure working time. Cost >10,000 euros. As said: Systemic error that occurs sooner or later in all OM656. Conclusion: Catastrophe!
@@1q2w3e4r5t6zism The other problem is the """nanoslide""" bs instead of good ol' cast iron cylinder sleeves. That thing just wears off in under 200k and you get blowby. It also can't be rebuilt because of it.
Steel pistons and alloy block with a nikasil coating, hope it doesn't delaminate the coating like has happened in other engines . . .low quality diesel and not MB engine oil will help strip the coating, I'm no fan of nikasil coatings for long term use,

Avoid anything with magical "cylinder coating", like this """nanoslide""" eco bs. Cast iron ftw, horrible choice, lots of blowby issues once that coating wears off in 200-300k km tops.
S400 d (what an amazing engine)
Imagine if the hybrid model has this engine + the 80KW electrical one
It would be hard to beat, in every aspect

Großartig ist dieser Motor.!!
Bring back the V8 CDI

It's not nikasil, it's some eco """nanoslide""" vapor deposition crap. Its very thin and wears off, giving all kinds of problems.
I want to ride this car only once.
It is intellectual curiosity.
Sadly, this will not make it to the USA :( Thanks Bosch / VW for screwing it up for the rest of us
More like "Thanks US regulations that are trying so hard against foreign competition".

Bi turbo ?
Where the engine sound of OM656?!

Impressive power output but how is it for maintenance?
