You can use any member of the Active Directory domain to prepare Active Directory for Exchange 2016.

benjamin baroukh there is no more cas and hub role. it is all in one. once you complete migration. shut down old server for some days and then uninstall if things are fine.

i have exchange 2010 installed in two VMs(mailbox & cas role in two diff. VM). also i have one 2013 exchange enterprise license which bought in 2013 and expire in 2015 without use. now exchnage 2010 end of life is going to be end. now i am planning to migrate 2010 to 2013. can 1 license is sufficient or i have to buy 1 more license for CAS role instance? our existing infra have 2 mailbox(in DAG) and 2 CAS installed(NLB)
Each instance need one license, in your case 4 license required to me 2 cas and 2 mailbox

I have successfully migrated from exchange 2010 to 2016 everything is here working perfect except here are some random user they are not receiving emails until we restart/reconnect outlook 2016. I recreated, repaired the profile many times. We have replaced the PC itself for several some users. doesn't help. The interesting thing is that Its not happening to all users here but random users and not all times. We're really fed up here . Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you. (സഹായിക്കണം 🙏 )

Also check if connection status if it is showing correct autodiscover URL when trying to make http connection with server
This must be DNS cache issue at user's machine as it might not have refreshed. You can try clearing cache on client side and check.

Can we prepare all of Schema, AD, and Domain options first without installing Exchange 2016? We aren't ready to upgrade to 2016 at this moment. We have completed all of the other prep work up until this point but we would like to know if we can continue with the rest of the preparation work concerning upgrading the Schema, AD, and Domain still run our current 2010 Exchange?
Hello Bob, you can update the Schema, AD, Domain without installing Exchange server 2016. You pre-staging your environment.

Ruben Tambussi scope of this video is exchange server migration. Edge server is a optional component in exchange topology. It is not mandatory and mostly people use third party devices as smtp gateway instead of edge transport server. It is also not allowed to install edge and mailbox in one server.
Thanks for answer Mohammed. You are right, we select any smtp gateway like trend o something like that, and maybe we have a better solution for antispam, je. So, we come back near of Exchange 5.5...just only we need the LDADS with mailbox server and Eureka: MS Exchange live for ever!! Thank you again for you time and your very good work. Regards

Yes..you can migrate exchange server to a standalone server. once you complete your migration, you can go for dag in new version

hey Niyas, can we run both exchange 2010 and 201 same time in our environment. how can we achieve that? do you we need to just add 2nd IP on mx record for mail to flow from both servers.
You can run both exchange 2010 and 2016 same time. We call co-existence. In this case you have to NAT public IPfor owa access to 2016. Because a down-level proxy from 2010 to 2016 will not work. put both server as source in send connector also. You don't need to do anything on mx record for co-existence.
so when the new email arrive, it will to 2010 not 2016- right? because 2016 is not on mx record list.
how do you receive your email. if you are receiving it directly to exchange server. Just change your SMTP NAT to new server.
