    I remember watching this after the 2003 finale that left me in tears. I loved to see Ed and Al reunited again. I cried when I thought they were going to be apart forever :( I was such a crybaby back then! And even though I have watched Brotherhood (and I love it!!) 2003 anime and this movie will forever be in my heart. Gosh, now I'm nostalgic.

    FMA 2003 left an open ending in the last episode. I was dissapointed at first, thinking: "It cannot end this way!". When this movie came out I bought it and watched it with my anime club. Of course only 4 ppl out of the 10 actually paid attention. Everyone else was too into Moon Phase and not shonen. But we loved it and for me, it gave me closure. The Elric brothers reunited in the end and will face the future challanges together. FMA was the first anime that had me facing a lot of REAL WORLD themes. I cried, reflected, and was insipred. It changed my view of anime. From its characters to the plot, to beaitiful music, FMA 2003 is a unique masterpiece to me and deserves a lot of love.

      FMA 2003 got really strange with all "the other side of the gate" stuff. I still enjoyed it though, it's pretty much what differentiates itself from Brotherhood after all. 😄

    Personally I liked this movie better than the star of Milos I think the idea for that movie could've worked better as a filler arc in the original series or even brotherhood. This movie definitely had a more theatrical feel.

    • @nyodesu
      @nyodesu 5 лет назад +15

      Actually, this film was mean't to be an entire Season 2 of 13 Episodes based on the Japanese commentary. I really liked that idea better, because then more of the world could be established and developed a little more in depth. I guess that's what the Fans are for though, eh? Just write out something that could've been close to it. They could've at least gave the film a little more time, maybe another year. It could've really helped the film in the long run, and maybe the Season 2 idea they had would've actually gone through and worked out better than the film did, but I'm still happy with what we got in the end, we still got a good film out of the series. That's all we can ask for, right? 😄

    I wouldn't say that FMAB was more intense, I felt the same amount of intensity in both series, but I would like to say it was a much bigger story. There was a lot more going on with much more problems at stake. But while the manga (which of course FMAB was based off) had pretty much a decade to complete the story, the 2003 anime only had 2 years with their own version. They made it up though with more character study and more drama, thats why I think they're both as intense.

    In my honest opinion, FMA 2003 and this movie were pretty good, even if in some parts they fall apart, I still have respect for both the show and movie. They did convert an entire Season 2 of about 13 Episodes of content into a single film (they talk about this in the Director Commentary, which is Japanese, but subs exist for it.) That's pretty impressive, all in only about a year, I'll bet if this movie got made into the 13 seasons or at least had more time to be developed, this movie could've been better, still better than the other two FMA films, that's for sure *COUGH* Live-Action FMA *COUGH.*

    I go back and forth on this movie. On one hand it ties up a lot of the loose ends that the anime left, and in my opinion it does a decent job of it. But at the same time the ending completely fucks over some of the supporting characters (especially Winry)

    Why does no one like this movie I thought it was a good way to wrap up the first series.
    I can agree though, some parts were a little iffy, :/

    Favorite part of the video is from 0:42 to the end. Not only is the anime EPIC, but the soundtrack as well.
    Sound effects help, too.

    FMA tops my top 10 anime of all time. Watched FMA when it first aired, so long ago! then brotherhood! and I still love it! I'd put it at number 3 of my top 10! It's just too good. If you ain't watched it, then go watch it ;D and I was always hoping for a continuation of them when they went into our world, would of loved to see the brothers live without alchemy.

  • @theresal2726

    Brotherhood follows the manga while the original series separates from th manga some where around episode 15. Brotherhood also introduces new characters from Xing like Ling, Lan Fan, Fu, and May. Some of the humunculi's appearances change like Wrath. Not to mention how the humunculi are created. Brotherhood is defiantly one anime to watch, but try to watch it as a new series and not as a remake for the old one because they are both different in their own beautiful way.

    Damn I wanted this movie so bad as a little kid like 11 I got it when it first released in the US , watched it so many times.. still have no idea where it went. Also glad that anime is becoming more and more popular among pop culture in the USA, I used to be embarrassed as a kid that liked anime that people would joke if they found out that I watched it. Now that sounds so ridiculous, I wish I could go back and talk myself into watching more . Now I’m just rewatching all the anime I watched as a kid including full metal and naruto and all the mayazaki films, also found out there’s a NEW Miyazaki movie!! So I’m pumped to relive my childhood shows

    FMA 03 is my favourite show of all time. I have such mixed feelings about this movie. On the one hand the animation and music is beautiful and I can watch it just for that. But the story... oh god the story. Killed Izuimi Curtis killed off screen, some no name villiian nobody remembers and to top it all off what a bad ending.

    This movie is a continuation of the 2003 anime (this first FMA anime series). ***SPOILER***So when Ed revived Al Elric in the 2003 anime, he still was 10 years old. When Al is shown in this movie, he's 13, so his hair grew longer, dark brown/gray color. Brotherhood is the 2nd series. It's also the one that follows the manga. When Al's body is brought back in Brotherhood, his hair is gold (same as Ed's.) Also note that he has bigger and grayer eyes in the movie, wheres in Brotherhood he has gold.
