    Literally just survive on brand loyalty. I liked the hyperion tempo but the fact that after 2 years they couldn't change anything about the midsole is just a joke, whereas you see brands like new balance willing to take risks and change the SC trainer when people would've accepted an upper update for v2.

      Get the Max. Also the Catamount 2. Running is the game. Once you get passed the technical BS it’s all about comfort and longevity.

      Well said. Their shoes are not exactly cheap, and they are skimpy on deals and offers but customer loyalty, step in comfort and zillion colorways are brining many repeat customers.
      I think they are also giving a good margin to the stores selling Brooks, so they are incentivized to pair a someone not particularly knowledgeable about the market and innovations with Brooks Ghost/Glycerin/Adrenaline GTS. Many Brooks runners are not even aware of Hyperion Tempo.
      I think with name change Hyperion (aka Hyperion Tempo 2) is getting more mainstream, a better price and better outsole (looks heavier though) and even a GTS version. I am actually excited for that one. Definitely looking for reviews.
      For me, Hyperion Max is not a max. stack shoe. They should really have named it Hyperion Tempo 2.

      Not everyone wants "change" and "innovation" when it comes to running shoes. I respect Brooks for small, incremental changes and sticking with what works for 90% of runners instead of going full blown with the marketing and hype. ASICS has "innovated" hard over the past 2 years and subsequently almost all of their shoes are super soft now. Not everyone wants that.

    Catamount 2 sounds great. I don't like the rock plate in the first version. Great foam, but the rock plate muted all the fun.

    • @TolunayOrkun
      @TolunayOrkun 2 года назад

      They need to use a flexible rock plate that is non-intrusive like Saucony uses in Xodus Ultra/Peregrine. On a technical terrain with rocks/roots poking underfoot a good rock plate really provides benefit but again it has to be a good rock plate design. I guess that plastic/nylon mid-foot (shank) will provide some protection but as you toe off you will feel the rocks. Have to see the reviews.

    What happened to the adrenaline Gts!?

    • @TolunayOrkun
      @TolunayOrkun 2 года назад +1

      Still there. It is really the GTS version of Ghost. Brooks has eliminated a number of stability shoes from their lineup a couple years ago but added GTS to other shoes (for example Levitate GTS and Glycerin GTS) I guess they fear losing existing Adrenaline customers if they bring up Ghost GTS and get rid of Adrenaline. In other words, it is marketing play. They are afraid to rock the boat and have unsuspecting customers keep buying technologically inferior shoes with minor changes from one iteration to another. I am surprised that Brooks did not directly go to DNA Loft v3 in Ghost 15. It is a missed opportunity, or they are too conservative in a fast-moving market but then again as long as someone is buying them, they do not have any incentive.

    • @AlbieDay
      @AlbieDay 2 года назад +2

      @@TolunayOrkun I was talking with my local Brooks rep, and the only reason the v3 didn't make it to the Ghost 15, is cost. They wanted to see how it was received in the Glycerin and then make a decision for the Ghost 16. By the time v4 comes out, you'll probably see v3 in the Ghost/Adrenaline.
      Still..... Uninspired product line that survives solely on brand loyalty moreso than innovation or producing a fun shoe. I feel like Brooks is the khakis of the running shoe world.... Never exciting, but you know you can probably wear it to the office and not get sent to HR for a dress code violation.

    You guys think that Hyperion max asking price 170 usd is good price when we think what other company offers for similar price range? Like endo Speed 3 is 10 bucks cheaper with better foam and nylon plated.

    • @Believeintherun
      @Believeintherun  2 года назад +3

      Price is subjective. While a very nice shoe (review to come) at $170 it would not be our first pick. The “max” is also misleading. This is not a max cushioned trainer. It’s more like a firmer Hyperion Tempo.

    • @TolunayOrkun
      @TolunayOrkun 2 года назад

      @@Believeintherun So buy Hyperion Tempo instead (or now maybe Hyperion w/o any qualifiers). Hyperion is positioned toward consumer space as it even gets a GTS. I hope the new outsole does not add too much weight or kill the bounce.

  • @leanneeggenberger9127

    Am I the only one that doesn't like the new Ghost 15 and Glycerin 20? They don't feel cushioned at all to me..wouldn't mind checking out the new Leviates..but Brooks shoes don't feel the same to me anymore.

    • @TolunayOrkun
      @TolunayOrkun 2 года назад +2

      Ghost 15 is still using older foam DNA Loft v2. Besides it is a 12mm drop shoe. So while the heel is decently cushioned the 12mm drops means the forefront has too little foam to handle longer runs. Brooks along with Mizuno are the last holdouts in 12mm drop space. Most everyone is now between 4-10 and there is increasing trend towards 4-8 range
      The new nitrogen infused DNA Loft v3 is in Glycerin but they killed it with too much outsole rubber. The foam did very well in its debut shoe Aurora-BL last year. I heard Brooks is bringing back Aurora-BL.

    • @pbnotj1
      @pbnotj1 2 года назад +2

      Most reviewers seem to agree with you ! I like the glycerin 20 but I think the way the new midsole and outsole interact works best for larger runners? I am 6’1” and find the midsole outsole works very well for me . I have heard of some lighter runners feel it is too firm . But brooks is my local running shoe company in Puget sound and really want them to keep up with the other big running brands but I do fear they fell behind years ago and haven’t kept pace. Still I love my glycerin 20s but running shoes are so personal they need more options to fit different runners . That Hyperion max looks interesting:-)

    • @TolunayOrkun
      @TolunayOrkun 2 года назад

      PUMA yes 100% but I really don't see Reebok doing that much better than Brooks either but at least what they offer is much more affordable for tight budgets. They seem to have killed their pebax based "Run Fast" lineup and only offering designs with good old Energy foam which is good but not a performance foam. Energy X with forefoot carbon plate is a heavy and stiff shoe that does not really perform. They should have brought that shoe with full length PEBAX foam from Run Fast series (Floatride foam instead of Floatride Energy). As a result, they need to heavily discount the shoe to move the off the shelves (or warehouse) Maybe I should convert that shoe for causal use or gym use. Disappointing. I recommend just buying Energy 4 as a daily trainer. More versatile and cheaper.
